The Saucepan Man 09-12-2004 07:44 PM

Well OK then ...

For 4 points, it was at the Unexpected Party in Bag End, when Gandalf revealed the map of Erebor showing the secret passage and the key to the passage.

But I still maintain that Gandalf had no specific plan for the defeat of Smaug. :p

Firefoot 09-12-2004 08:34 PM

That's what I had in mind.

And technically, I suppose it is true that Gandalf really didn't have a specific plan, other than he wanted it secret...

rutslegolas 09-16-2004 02:34 AM

Saucy it's your turn . :D :D

The Saucepan Man 09-17-2004 10:08 AM

Oops! How embarrassing. Sorry for the delay, folks.

For 2 points, can you tell me what instruments each of the Dwarves played at the Unexpected Party?

The Perky Ent 10-01-2004 06:02 PM

Wha oh! We have a tie! Firefoot and SaucepanMan, you'll have to answer this question in order to become the winner for the month! The question is:

What is the first dwarf mentioned in "The Gathering of the Clouds"?

Firefoot 10-01-2004 08:05 PM

Thorin.

The Perky Ent 10-03-2004 10:58 AM

And this month's winner is...

~*~ Firefoot ~*~

Carry on :D

The Saucepan Man 10-03-2004 11:59 AM

Bad timing. ;)

Is anyone going to answer my question?

Firefoot 10-03-2004 01:16 PM

2 points:

Fili, Kili - fiddles
Dori, Nori, Ori - flutes
Bombur - drum
Bifur, Bofur - clarinets
Dwalin, Balin - viols
Thorin - harp

Nothing is said about Oin and Gloin having instruments.

The Saucepan Man 10-04-2004 06:53 PM

Spot on Firefoot. :)

The 2 points are yours.

Firefoot 10-04-2004 07:39 PM

2 points: Name three different mountainous areas where the Dwarves had settlements.

The Saucepan Man 10-04-2004 07:51 PM

Shouldn't it be 3 points - 1 for each? ;)

Oh well, for 2 points:

The Blue Mountains (Ered Luin);
The Misty Mountains (Khazad-Dum); and
The Iron Hills/the Lonely Mountain.

Firefoot 10-04-2004 07:57 PM

Right you are.

The Saucepan Man 10-04-2004 07:59 PM

Ta very much. :)

OK, for 3 points, give the Dwarvish names for three peaks in the Misty Mountains.

Firefoot 10-04-2004 08:28 PM

3 points: Barazinbar (Caradhras), Zirakzigil (Celebdil), Bundushathûr (Fanuidhol).

The Saucepan Man 10-04-2004 09:00 PM

That'll do. 3 points to you. :)

Firefoot 10-05-2004 05:17 AM

4 points: Why does Gandalf say the fall of Dain was not such a heavy loss?

NightKnight 10-05-2004 07:43 AM

4 points: Because it was a wonder that he could still swing an axe at his age. :D

Firefoot 10-05-2004 08:22 PM

Precisely. :)

NightKnight 10-06-2004 12:19 AM

For 3 points: What was the token of war that the king of Nogrod sent to Belegost?

The Perky Ent 09-22-2005 09:33 PM

The jumper Cables of Mordor!

The light of the elda- ...well, the light shall not forsake you! Awake, dwarves of old!

Welcome to Dwarf Jeopardy! Here are the rules for the game
Quote:

RULES:

I will ask a question about anything dwarf related. Each question can be worth 1-5 points depending on how hard the question is. For example, if the question was "Who was the dwarf who traveled with the fellowship" it would be 1 point. However, if it was something like "Name two other names associated with Nibin-Nogrim", it would be 5 points, since it is common knowlege.

Here is how to win points: You bid on how many points you want to place on a question. The number of points you bid cannot be greater than the worth of the question. If you are correct, the points you betted will be added to your score. If you are incorrect, the number of points you betted will be deducted from your score. This way, if your guess is wrong and it's a five point question, you won't have to start from scratch if you bet 1 point.

the person who correctly answers the question can start the next one and so on and so forth. At the end of each month, the person with the highest score will be the Winner of the month and will be recorded in the Hall of Champions. If there is a tie, there will be a tie-breaker.

There are two halls of fame, the Hall of Points and the Hall of Champions. The Hall of Points is a ongoing hall, where the people with the most points are comemorated. The Hall of Champions is only updated once a month. It contains the winners of the months. The Halls can be found on the first post of the thread

Familiar with the rules? Then let's get started!

For 3 points, who was the friend of Celebrimbor who forged the Doors of Duirin

Firefoot 09-23-2005 05:18 AM

3 points - Narvi.

The Perky Ent 09-23-2005 07:41 AM

+3 Points for Firefoot! Let the games begin!

Firefoot 09-23-2005 04:42 PM

Four points: How was Thror killed?

The Perky Ent 09-23-2005 05:19 PM
