I've got a picture that makes me look like I'm commanding the minions of Thangorodrim to my every whim, but you can't really see what I look like.

I think Alk.'s last post in a while was on this thread. Perhaps Alk. has done the unthinkable and abandoned the photo page and the Downs? If Alk. has, does anyone else agree that a new photo page should be created?? I would love to take on the responsibility, but currently both of my Email addresses are the free versions of hotmail and yahoo which don't allow that much space.I also don't know a good place to post them; I could check out MSN groups about posting.Or a better ultimatium could be a section here on the Downs for pictures like they have on CouncilofElrond.com.This is just a suggestion.Does anyone else have any imput??

I really think that we need to have another photo page put together, and if you are all for the responsiblity Vuelve, I think you should go for it.

I agree, that is a very good idea, Vuelve. It could have one thread for pictures and another for comments and suggestions. We just need to convince the B-W.

I agree that we should try to convince the BW before I undergo the tedious process of creating a picture page.Blah I'm not very good at that sort of thing.Anyone volunteer to convince the BW??

OK, OK. A photo topic here on the Downs sounds like a good idea, but we'll need a couple things figured out before I give it a final OK.

First, who is going to maintain it? I would need one dedicated forum member who knows how to use FTP and how to resize images. You'd have to know how to FTP, because we would host the pics on the Downs server. You'd have to know how to resize images, because we'd have to set a size limit - 250 sounds senisible to me.

I've had a few PMs about it (ohhh... I do so dislike when people gang up with PMs), but I'm not really sure who'll fit the bill just yet. Do I have any volunteers?

I'd be happy to volunteer, but I have no idea what FTP is, let alone how to use it. So there may be better candidates ... :rolleyes:

I am an experienced FTP user and know exactly what to do. I also know how to resize images and currently have lots of time on my hands. I would love to offer my help.

Although like The Saucepan Man I don't know what FTP is, I was one of the people pushing to get something like this done here on the Downs, so I volunteer to help.

Looks like BW is going to host the pics here on the downs, I can use ftp (file transfer protocol) but if you have someone else who would like to take on maintaining the new page I can send them the members pictures or I can upload them to the server.

I can do it. I've been resizing images and using FTP for a long time. Alk can do it if he wants - if so, I can just help, and take over in vacation periods.

Alk, any way of finding out who's who on there? Nice pics and all (great job), but I'd love to know who I'm actually seeing. Although it was kinda fun going through and saying "that looks somewhat like I pictured Sharku".

On my computer I just hovered my mouse over the pictures. And then on the bottom left hand corner of the browser (you know the part that says "done" when the page is done loading) that's where I see who's on it. Of course the entire URL is ther as well, but their name is there as well. :D

My computer doesn't have the hover thing either... but I figured out that if you click on the thumbnails and get the larger pic, the name of that BD'er shows up in the address bar, for example: http://www.hallsofmandos.net/Lindolirian.jpg is Lindolirian's pic.

Yup, that's me, from a photo shoot in February.

If you need any help, I know a perfectly good person sitting right here who stays home all day and is working on getting up a website, LordOfTheRingsOnline.net..... Might be a good place for pics. I'll foot the bill up to a point. I know where to get some really cheap bandwidth too. I've been learning some of this stuff, and this would be a great opportunity to learn more.

Yes, it's from the recent production of Sound of Music. On the far left is Baron Eberfield, standing next to his wife, Baroness Eberfield. Captain Von Trapp - played by Ray Woolf (famous actor in NZ, not sure how widespread his fame is) - is leaning over me to kiss her hand. I played Frau Zeller, the wife of the most prominent Nazi in the story. I'm not very pleased, as my 'husband' has just created a nasty scene at the party we are attending, hosted by the Captain.

It was lots of fun. I also played a nun - I was kneeling at the alter when the curtain came up, all by my onesies...though my knees did get sore doing that night after night after night - and I was the understudy to Sister Margaretta.

Unfortunately, our melodrama 'play' at school is a nightmare....we have to write our own script and so on, but one of the boys in our 5-person cast is an absolute moron...it's going worse than nowhere and we have only one week left!!! :eek:

You look beautiful, Aman. So do many of the others - or handsome as the case may be (no names :D). I really enjoy seeing everybody's pic...some don't look at all the way I imagined them. Erendis looks sweet, and so do the other baby pics. :p
