Is it some sort of clothing?

Samwise,
Teeth? Skin cells? Just a coupla wild guesses. Good one! |
samwise, is it a facade?
|
Nuranar, you're on the right track.

Samwise, is the answer EYELASHES????
|
DINGDINGDING!
Yep, that's it, Tigerlily!!!!! |
My voice is tender, my waist is slender,
I'm often invited to play. Yet wherever I go, I must take my bow, Or else I have nothing to say. Who has hands, but cannot hold, Teeth, but cannot bite, Feet, but they are cold, Eyes, but without sight? |
Is that two different riddles, Susan, or one?

Oh, sorry, I should have been more clear. It's two, Sam
|
Susan, methinks the answer to the first one is a violin?
I don't have one for the second, but I am thinking |
The second one is a politician! Just kidding, a dead man?
|
A violin is correct.
A dead man is not, however |
Could we get a hint for the second one, Susan???
|
Mmm...only a harp and a piano come to mind, but I know neither are right...

Ok, the second one is usually made of wood, or plastic, or ceramic.
|
Susan, is it a statue or a sculpture?
|
Hm. Is it a musical instrument at all, or a totally different thing?
Quote:

A grandfather clock?
That's just a wild guess. |
It could be considered a kind of statue, although if you were to describe it that way within earshot of anyone else, you'd get a really funny look.
It is no kind of musical instrument, nor is it a clock. |
Hm. This was an answer to another riddle: but--an idol? Like a Buddah?
Quote:

Not, it is connected with no major religion, although there is one sort of psuedo religion that does use it.
|
Hmmmm, this one is tough, Susan.
I am trying to think of all the clues you have given. By pseudo religion, do you mean something like Witchcraft??? Or something that is similar. |
Similar to witchcraft, but much older (if by "witchcraft" you mean Wicca). But don't start thinking it's a religious item, because it isn't. In the psuedo religion I mean, actual practioners are few and far between. It's just a thing that some people have.
|
I still don't know
Another clue perhaps??? |
The only thing that comes to mind is one of those little (Japanese?) cats that waves both "hello" and "goodbye".

I'm not sure quite what you mean, Sam, but I'm pretty sure that isn't it
It's extremely common, usually associated with females, and comes in a variety of sizes, shapes, and colors. Honestly, the ones I think will be stumpers people get right away, and the ones I think will be easy people have no clue on..... [ May 09, 2002: Message edited by: Susan Delgado ] |
Is it a doll, like a "worry doll"?
*The cat is a little statue with one paw raised in the air--when a guest comes in it is "waving hello" and when they leave, it is "waving goodbye".* Quote:

OMG!!! Susan's first riddle is now officially my favorite of all time!!! I am a violinist!!!! That is a perfect description, and hahaha to my friend who is a violist because violas SHTINK and cannot compare to the wonderful and lovely violin.
Anyway, this one should be pretty easy. If anyone's heard it before, I would not be surprised at all. Thirty white horses on a red hill, you say "go" they stomp and fight, you say "stop" they all stand still. I know that's not exactly how it goes, but you can pretty much figure it out from what I put. As for the second riddle, I have no idea. I am no good at riddles. |

Ithaeliel, the answer to yours is teeth, right? |
Sam got it, it's a doll. Not necessarily a worry doll either, just your common, everyday little girls' toy
Ithaeliel, I'm a very glad to have made your day, and welcome to the Downs! How about a couple more? 1. Where may you find roads without cars, forests without trees, and cities without houses? 2. I have a hundred legs, but cannot stand, A long neck, but no head; I ease and eat the maid's life. |
Susan, is the second one a broom?

We're still working on this one, right?

It's an item many people use when they travel.

Ahhhh, is it a map?
I find myself never trying to go for the obvious on these. I never would've thought that answer to the other was a doll, because I was trying to come up with something on a larger scale. Oh well, I get some of them on the first try. I wonder where Starbreeze went. I know she said she was all riddled out & had finals, or something, but I don't think I've seen her on the board at all lately Well, we can keep her challenge alive! I will come up with new riddles in my long car ride today as I move! |
