the real findorfin 04-04-2003 08:26 AM

Gamling maybe, or possibly Grima (because of the secrets bit), but he didn't fight in the Battle of the Hornburg.

Gil-Galad 04-04-2003 04:41 PM

i put two tehre so you can choose which either put plz tell me and all you are so close

Hint: in the two poems/proses, they are in the same age! and they fought together!

Gil-Galad 04-05-2003 10:04 AM

Manardariel 04-05-2003 10:13 AM

The first one could be Theoden or Eomer, or maybe Hama.
The second one is surely Eowyn, isnīt it? But Faramir also comes to my mind...

Gil-Galad 04-05-2003 10:35 AM

Gil-Galad 04-05-2003 04:43 PM

elven maiden Earwen 04-05-2003 10:53 PM

Beren87 04-05-2003 11:00 PM

Quote:

Theoden or Eomer, or maybe Hama.
Who else was even important in the battle of Helm's Deep (or of Pellanor Fields) that is close to those three?? Those are pretty much the only important Rohirrim I would think. You've really stumped us!

Tar-Palantir 04-06-2003 01:06 AM

Erkenbrand. Don't know about a second one though, maybe Theodred?

Gil-Galad 04-06-2003 08:50 AM

sorry Tar, Earwen got it first so she can go

but you were right Tar with first Erkenbrand, but Earwen did anwser first

elven maiden Earwen 04-06-2003 08:24 PM

maiden i am
name means of the sea
had many children but one was female
who is mentioned a lot in frodo's tale
who am I?

Rochelle 04-06-2003 09:28 PM

Hmmm possibly Earwen?

elven maiden Earwen 04-06-2003 09:34 PM

of course i had to do it. your up

Rochelle 04-06-2003 10:14 PM

alrighty here goes...

I have a thirst that will remain unquenched
and although years pass I am still reminded
Only nine remain
yet I am alone

Beren87 04-06-2003 10:20 PM

The Witch-King of Angmar?

Rochelle 04-07-2003 07:57 AM

nope it's not him

elven maiden Earwen 04-07-2003 08:01 AM

sauron, or the one ring

Rochelle 04-07-2003 04:03 PM

Nope, not those either.

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 04-07-2003 04:11 PM

Shelob perhaps? Thirsty and lives near the city of the Nine...

Rochelle 04-07-2003 04:15 PM

that's a nice reasoning...but for a hint:

the nine does not refer to what you suspect, and thirst is a metaphor

Gil-Galad 04-08-2003 07:09 AM

i am gonna take a super wild guess Melkor?

Rochelle 04-08-2003 10:55 AM

No it isn't Melkor either.

::HINT: This characters appearance is made in the Lord of the Rings as part of the present, not past.::

aragornreborn 04-08-2003 04:38 PM

Frodo?

Rochelle 04-08-2003 05:29 PM

Yes! Frodo it was

I have a thirst that will remain unquenched
He will always long for the ring
and although years pass I am still reminded
His wound flares up on it's "birthday"
Only nine remain
Nine fingers
yet I am alone
Sam had Rosie, Merry & Pippin, Aragorn & Arwen, Legolas & Gimli...

aragornreborn 04-08-2003 05:32 PM

All right! I win! Sorry, lol, it's my first time. Well, I'll get right on my question.

aragornreborn 04-08-2003 05:41 PM

I hope for hope.
I die to live.
Am I young or am I old?
It matters not, for I have found
treasure beyond bound

Well, there you go. Sorry if it's vague. But, as my luck would have it, someone will get it right off.

alquadae 04-09-2003 04:22 AM

quendi?

aragornreborn 04-09-2003 08:11 AM

No.

I have no idea who that even is, and after
looking it over I realize my question is incredibly vague. So, as a hint, the character is from Lord of the Rings. Well, the person could be mentioned in the other tales as well (I'm no expert on them), but the person IS in LOTR.

Oh, and all of those lines should not be taken literally. They may be symbolic or hinting at the truth, of course - poetic license.

My goodness! I just looked over it again. And it is impossible to figure out unless you happen to stumble upon my exact thought process. OK, the character is NOT a minor character in LOTR. That should help narrow the field.

elven maiden Earwen 04-09-2003 08:46 AM

frodo, Bilbo, or Aragorn???

Manardariel 04-09-2003 08:52 AM

Arwen?

I hope for hope. Hope= Aragorn, aka Estel (elvish for Hope)
I die to live. gave up immortal life, to live a life worth living at Aragornīs side
Am I young or am I old? you canīt tell because sheīs elven
It matters not, for I have found
treasure beyond bound the treasure is love

Or maybe Gandalf???

aragornreborn 04-09-2003 09:07 AM

Oh sure. My first riddle lasted a day. Maybe I shouldn't have given so many hints. Maybe it wasn't as vague as I thought. In any case, Manardariel has it. It was Arwen. And that was a wonderful explanation, too - nearly exactly how I thought of it. Good job.

lathspell 04-09-2003 11:40 AM

Well, I liked that riddle... especially the 'I hope for hope'-part

lathspell

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 04-09-2003 12:23 PM

Yeah, I didn't think it was too vague I rather liked it...

aragornreborn 04-09-2003 12:36 PM

Well, thanks.

elven maiden Earwen 04-11-2003 05:25 PM
