Yes!

Eruanna 04-06-2003 01:02 PM

Thanks...Here's my question:

Galadriel was her chosen Sindarin name, but what two other names (proper names not nicknames) had "The Lady of the Golden Wood" also been called?

[ April 06, 2003: Message edited by: Eruanna ]

Lord Elessar 04-06-2003 02:30 PM

well all the names i could find are:
Alatáriel, Artanis, Galadriel, Nerwen

all the names she has i think !

ps if i'm correct relinquish my right to ask a question since i'm not a frequent here!

Eruanna 04-06-2003 02:41 PM

That was quick!

Well done Lord Elessar (and welcome to the Downs )

If you don't wish to pose a question then the floor is open.....

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 04-08-2003 02:45 AM

I'll ask one

Which two kings were slain by Gothmog?

alquadae 04-08-2003 03:50 AM

Azaghal
Bregolas

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 04-08-2003 12:26 PM

Was Bregolas actually a king? *puzzled*
I should probably have said "two of the kings" not "the two kings" because there were more than two... Azaghal should certainly count.

Hm...

Oops oops oops, Read The Full Question.
Get a little excited some times.
"Gothmog, Lord of Balrogs. High captian of Angband, slayer of Feanor,Fingon and Ecthelion."

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 04-08-2003 05:46 PM

Now you can have it... I was thinking of Feanor and Fingon.

Sophia

alquadae 04-08-2003 06:29 PM

Thank you.
What is known as a "Dusk Singer"?

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 04-11-2003 07:11 PM

A nightingale... Lomelinde... I think?

alquadae 04-12-2003 05:20 AM

Yes Great!!

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 04-12-2003 01:43 PM

Where did Nienor meet her brother Turin and not know him? (before they married each other?)

That's a hard question to word, if it's too confusing, tell me.

alquadae 04-12-2003 03:10 PM

Haud-en-elleth

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 04-13-2003 12:55 PM

Eruanna 04-14-2003 06:45 PM

alquadae 04-14-2003 07:00 PM

Yes indeed, please carry on!!!

Eruanna 04-14-2003 07:18 PM

Which one of the Eldar was the first to meet men and by what name did they call him?

Galadriel's Slave 04-14-2003 07:42 PM

Finrod Felagund, who was known as Nom the Wise.

Eruanna 04-15-2003 09:38 AM

Correct, Galadriel's Slave.

Welcome to the Barrow Downs, please proceed.

Galadriel's Slave 04-15-2003 03:37 PM

Which jagged precipice was the Dark Elf executed by being flung over?

Beren87 04-15-2003 03:39 PM

Eöl was cast over Caragdűr.

Galadriel's Slave 04-15-2003 07:44 PM

Yes indeed... go for it

Beren87 04-15-2003 07:53 PM

Allrighty.

What year [circa, anyway] did Thingol forbid the Sindar to speak Quenya?

Estanesse 04-20-2003 04:54 PM

It's Before the Dagor Aglareb(75 FA )
and after the Journey of Turgon and Finrod(50 FA)

So I guess that Thingol forbid the Sindar to speak Quenya circa 65 years First age

Beren87 04-21-2003 11:23 PM

Good Job! Just when I thought I had made a difficult question too. Your turn.

Estanesse 04-23-2003 08:19 AM

Thank you.
How many Noldor High Kings were there in the first age and name them.

Lindolirian 04-23-2003 08:52 AM

If you are including the Years of the Trees in the First Age, then there are five. Finwë, Fëanor, Fingolfin, Fingon, and Erenion Gil-Galad. If you you are refering to the First Age counted from the first rising of the Sun, then there are three. Fingolfin, Fingon, and Gil-Galad.

Estanesse 04-23-2003 08:59 AM

I'm referring to the First Age counted from the first rising of the Sun,
but sorry your answer is not correct

Lindolirian 04-23-2003 09:07 AM

GASP!!! Being away from the books for 40 days has depleted my knowledge. I think I forgot Turgon. so.. FOUR!

gosh i think i'll die of humiliation if i get this wrong...

Estanesse 04-23-2003 09:19 AM

hehe your right of course

The floor is yours

Lindolirian 04-23-2003 09:28 AM

What was the name of the man who told Beleg of a man who saved his daughter?

Estanesse 04-23-2003 11:47 AM

Is it Larnach
But was it not Larnach’s daughter self who told about the man who saved her

[ April 23, 2003: Message edited by: Estanesse ]

Lindolirian 04-23-2003 04:01 PM

Technically yes, but I was going to say the guy who told Beleg about Turin's whereabouts, but I thought that was too easy...

Go for it.

Estanesse 04-24-2003 10:39 AM

Who decided who would be the first lord of Ladros and who was the first lord?

Lindolirian 04-24-2003 03:11 PM

Boromir was given Ladros by Fingolfin.

Estanesse 04-24-2003 03:29 PM

Sorry that’s not the right answer

Beren87 04-24-2003 10:33 PM

My my Lind., just not your day is it.

Actually, that's strange. You would think it would be given by the same elf who gave Dor-Lomin to Hador Lorindol, which would be Figolfin. [Both gifts are given in the same paragraph in The Silm]. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Finarfin.

Whatever the answer is, I'd like to know where you go it.

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 04-24-2003 11:16 PM

Ladros was given to Boromir by Finrod Felagund, I believe.
