Now just how *cough cough* AROUSED *cough cough* are these Huorns?
I posted the thing about the aroused Huorns. Here is my defence.

arouse verb 1 awaken 2 stir, move (a feeling or person)

And thats a dictionary definition, so neh!

p.s. - I agree. This should be kept as a PG.

I'd like to take this moment to point to the subject heading, Typos (or: Is It a Freudian Slip?) to those who question the suitability of the original joke. May not be a textbook typo, but the alternate meaning could qualify as a Freudian Slip. Furthermore, it doesn't even merit a PG-13 rating, and so if you think that's too riské, you would be horrified by the Entish Bow RPG. I rest my case.

GaladrieloftheOlden 07-24-2003 01:51 PM

I'm sorry, but I don't know what a Freudian slip really is. I plead young age... Would this comment qualify?

I found this one in a REALLY old post

Quote:

I'm sorry, but I don't know what a Freudian slip really is.
It's defined as "A slip of the tongue that is motivated by and reveals some unconscious aspect of the mind." In other words, when you accidentally say what's on your mind. Or, I suppose, it could be referring to Freud's heretofore unknown habit of wearing his mother's slip, but that's debatable...

the guy who be short 07-25-2003 08:12 AM

What she means is when you type something that has either two meanings, eg: aroused Huorns; or else there is a typo and the sentence means something else, eg: writing in dunes.
Therefore, chat mistakes and typos (such as the nazghul one we just had) do not qualify.

Edit: In two posts, I too shall do the wave for chronological order.

Crossbreads.
You've gotta go and see what BW has written on the subject on the crossbreads thread.

elven maiden Earwen 07-27-2003 10:10 AM

You mean this:
Quote:

How about if you crossed White Bread with Rye Bread. That would be crazy. Or Pumpernickel and Wheat! Funny!
I think you mean 'crossbreeds'.

Silmarien 07-29-2003 11:14 PM

A freudian slip is when you say one thing (or type in these cases) and mean your mother.

Elven maiden Earwen, that was an acceptable contribution to this thread with the substitution of angle for angel.

I had the opourtunity to see a bootleg version on the Fellowship from Indonesia with subtitles (in English, oddly enough.) The entire thing was one hoot after another. Here are a select memorable few:
Quote:

Bilbo: Not some blockheaded Bracegirdle from Hardbottle was "Not some hot-skirter from hotbottle!"
Quote:

Hobbits were "Hoppits"
Quote:

Old Tobey, Finest weed in the South Farthing became "Old Journey, find the weed in a cave of mine"
Quote:

Boromir Speech in Lorien: "Frodo's voices is inside my head. He spoke of my father in front of Gandalf. She said "Enough now, there is hope left." I can not see it. It's long since we haven't had any hopes. My father is an elf man. He allways have faith...and now people loose faith. He looked to me to make things right, but I won't do it. I don't see the glory. Have you ever seen it Aragorn...like the spike of pure silver, you could hide in the morning breeze. Have you ever been called home by the sound of trumpet?"
Quote:

Half the Shire's been invited. "Office Strider's been invited."
I've got many more!

Lord of Angmar 08-08-2003 11:05 PM

Hahahaha! I wish I had a copy. I saw a Chinese bootleg of the Fellowship that was similar. Your post reminded me that I had asked my friend (who owns the copy) to send me a few funny lines from it:

Galadriel in the opening scene:
Quote:

It beginning with fording the Great Rings, Seven for the dwarves, three for the Elfs, mortal and whitest of them all, and nine, nine rings were given to the brace of Man, who was all else doomed to die.
Saruman
Quote:

The Nine has left Minas Mordor. They crossed the river Rising on mad summer day. They will find that thing, and they kill one who carry it.
Cheers!

Finwe 08-09-2003 03:42 PM

Oh dear, remind me never again to eat while reading this thread!!!! There's chocolate all over my computer!

You guys have to see the Hindi version. One of my friends can fiddle with the languages on her TV, and we watched FotR in that. Here are a few memorable subtitles:

Quote:

Bilbo in the Shire: I know half of you halfway up your skirts, and I like to have the rest of you half as much you like.
Quote:

Pippin in the field: Look, Merry! It's Fodo Waggins!
I'm not sure if they were all typos or whether they were actually saying that in Hindi because I'm not too good at the language.

I think that last 'typo' was intentional. Something from international versions of FOTR? Still, it's quite funny.

Tinuviel of Denton 09-17-2003 08:16 PM

Also, dear sister, this is a thread for forum mistakes that make some sort of sense, though not what the writer originally intended, not chat mistakes. And what were you doing in the chat room anyway? You know we're not supposed to go there. *hands on hips, very big-sisterly pose*

A little more on topic, I seem to remember seeing someone post something about 'the ent' in place of 'the end'. Or maybe I'm just seeing things. (which is fairly likely anyway. )
