Only four?

Okay, one was the Gaffer in the Green dragon.

One was Ted Sandyman to Sam.

One was Gandalf to Frodo, saying that he looked the same as ever.

Another by Gandalf, in shadow of the Past.

Make that two by Gandalf in the Shadow of the Past.

one was Farmer Maggot to Frodo and the hobbits.

Barliman Butterbur said it at the Prancing Pony.

Twice.

Three times.

Four times!

Once by Bill ferny to Sam.

Strider said it once.

Bilbo said it at Rivendell, to Aragorn.

Gloin says it to gandalf.

Sam to bilbo in Rivendell.

Sam again to Bilbo.

Gandalf says it in Moria.

I know you only said one, but I couldnt help myself!

Beren87 02-07-2003 03:11 PM

Exactly like that, with the qoutes and exclamation mark, it was only said 4 times. Once by Gandalf, once by Tom Bombadil, and twice by Sam. But anyway, its your turn!

eleanor_niphredil 02-08-2003 05:59 AM

okay.

Correct as usual.

Dondagnirion 03-13-2003 10:41 AM

Russandol? Your sleeping on the job again.....Its your turn.
Anyone else want to put up a quote?

Dondagnirion
"There is no spoon."

Rochelle 03-18-2003 09:33 PM

It's been awhile so I'll put up another quote!

Quote:

but they are not yet under the yoke

Dondagnirion 03-21-2003 10:28 AM

I know that it was said about Rohan, and how they were being attacked/ had been offered alliance from Sauron/Saruman, and I am going to say that it was Gandalf, though I am not quite shure who it is right now.

Dondagnirion
"There is no spoon."

Rochelle 03-21-2003 11:39 AM

You are very close! You have the instance correct but not the speaker

Samwise 03-21-2003 07:00 PM

Was it Theoden?

alaklondewen 03-21-2003 08:34 PM

Was it Boromir at the Council of Elrond?

Arvedui III 03-21-2003 10:42 PM

Aragorn, perhaps?

Rochelle 03-22-2003 12:54 AM

Nope...none of them! Remember Samwise that this is FoTR quotes

Elanor 03-22-2003 01:36 AM

Um... Elrond?

Rochelle 03-22-2003 06:32 PM

No it is not he either...do you all need a hint?

Arvedui III 03-22-2003 07:10 PM

hint would be nice

Rochelle 03-22-2003 08:06 PM

The speaker of this quote was a good friend to have when you were in an unfriendly spot.

Arvedui III 03-22-2003 08:33 PM

Bill the Pony, no! um, legolas, maybe?

Samwise 03-22-2003 09:54 PM

Remember Samwise that this is FoTR quotes
*Smacks head* sorry...uh...Tom Bombadil?
(totally off the wall, I know, but.... )

Rochelle 03-23-2003 12:19 PM

This is definatly harder than I thought...

another hint. The speaker of the quote was not part of the fellowship, but if it were not for him, then at least three of the nine (not including Boromir) would not be present at the end of the war.

Firondoiel 03-23-2003 01:25 PM

Gwaihir?

Herudaeglin 03-23-2003 02:20 PM

Could it possibly be Eomer?

Finally!

Congrats Firondoiel it was Gwaihir. Gandalf was recounting his experience at Orthanc. Gwaihirs full quote was "They pay a tribute of horses, and send many yearly to Mordor, or so it is said; but they are not yet under the yoke."

Firondoiel 03-23-2003 03:02 PM

My turn!

gilraën 04-28-2003 03:56 PM

Airehiriel since it's more than 10 days, why don't you take a turn?
