Or could it be the island of Almaren where Tulkas and Nessa got married? This was before Melkor returned to Middle-Earth and destroyed the Lamps Illuin and Ormal (he attacked against the lights of the Lamps or something like that).

EDIT: Nice to see you've returned, Lindolirian!

That's it! Thanks, it's great to be back!

Annunfuiniel 04-26-2003 03:33 AM

Who were named eglath and why?

Lyra Greenleaf 04-26-2003 12:49 PM

The Forsaken people, Teleri Elves who didn't go to Valinor but stayed to look for Elwe. I suppose they felt abandoned?

Annunfuiniel 04-26-2003 03:10 PM

I suppose so too. Your turn, Lyra!

Lyra Greenleaf 05-02-2003 12:56 PM

Ooops, sorry it took so long!
OK, an easy one. Who are the two Blue Wizards?

lathspell 05-02-2003 01:43 PM

Alatar and Pallando

Lyra Greenleaf 05-03-2003 05:01 AM

Very good! Your go...

lathspell 05-04-2003 10:56 AM

What was the 'Noontide of the Blessed Realm'?

greetings,
lathspell

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 05-04-2003 11:54 AM

The years of the Trees?

gilraën 05-04-2003 05:04 PM

When the three kindreds of the elves were gathered in Valinor and Melkor was chained?

lathspell 05-05-2003 03:35 PM

Exactly right, gilraën!!!

gilraën 05-05-2003 03:50 PM

Thank you, I wasn't sure.

Who gave the keys of Orthanc to Saruman?

Lindolirian 05-05-2003 07:22 PM

Boromir I Steward of Gondor.

gilraën 05-06-2003 01:36 PM

Not Boromir.

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 05-06-2003 02:54 PM

Steward Beren of Gondor.

gilraën 05-06-2003 02:56 PM

Yes

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 05-10-2003 10:48 AM

During Tolkien's creative process he changed a lot of the character names repeatedly. What was Merry Brandybuck's first name before it was Meriadoc? (I believe it was the original name for this character.)

Sophia

gilraën 05-10-2003 01:26 PM

Marmaduke? It always reminded me of Marmalade when I read it first.

Salix 05-10-2003 01:30 PM

That would be Kalimac.

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 05-12-2003 09:37 PM

Marmaduke it was Kalimac was his name in Westron, I think.

Sophia

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 05-20-2003 09:34 AM

It's your turn gilraen. *bump*

gilraën 05-20-2003 12:39 PM

What is another name for Laer Cú Beleg ?

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 05-20-2003 01:34 PM

"The Song of the Great Bow". Turin's tribute to Beleg at Eithel Ivrin.

gilraën 05-20-2003 01:38 PM

Yes, your turn

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 05-20-2003 01:40 PM

What was Bar-en-Danwedh. What does the name mean and why was it called that?

gilraën 05-20-2003 01:45 PM

The House of Ransom, because Turin held Mim to ransom for it?

lathspell 05-22-2003 07:31 AM

Wasn't Kalimac the name of Meriadoc in true hobbitish (Kuduk)?

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 05-22-2003 06:29 PM

Yes, to Gilraen,

and lathspell- I thought it was Westron (I thought the hobbits spoke Westron as a first language?), but either way, I was looking for the first name Tolkien gave the character while he was writing the story. I'll have to look it up, about the language of 'Kalimac' though.

gilraën 05-26-2003 04:26 PM

I'm sorry, I just realised it was my turn here.

Who did Lily Brown's daughter marry?

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 05-26-2003 04:30 PM

Samwise Gamgee!

gilraën 05-26-2003 04:33 PM

Yes

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 06-25-2003 07:06 AM

Another thread I've missed and it was my turn all along.

In which poem is there intentional reference to emeralds?

Lindolirian 06-30-2003 12:48 PM

Bilbo's song that he sings for Lindir in Rivendell. Aragorn insists that he adds "something about a green stone." Bilbo did not know why, but it is clearly a reference to the Elessar.

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 07-03-2003 12:12 PM

Perfect Lindolirian!

Sophia

Lindolirian 07-07-2003 12:38 PM

elven maiden Earwen 07-07-2003 09:06 PM
