Sorry, but I'm not going to continue unraveling this quote - I will be away for several days and will join in the fun when I'm back again. Enjoy yourself while I'm gone! ;)

Such friendly words, spoken by a friendly person, and he gets such a discouraging reaction!
Quote:

'Good morning, ma'am! Good day to you!
I hope I find you well?'
But she dropped umbrella and basket too,
and yelled a frightful yell.
It's the Lonely Troll in "Perry-the-Winkle".

Guinevere 03-06-2007 04:06 AM

Yep!

Welcome back Esty! If you're not around, nothing gets solved here... ;)

This portrayal of a friendly Troll is really interesting! (So the fanfic I read recently about a congenial orc who is friends with an unfortunate, outcast Elf and a Human is perhaps not so ooc as I had thought... :D )

Estelyn Telcontar 03-06-2007 08:48 AM

Tuor's Gs and Ms were the clue I needed to solve the quote's identity! It's always a joint effort.

Here's new one for you:

Dear me yes - that would be helpful in the case of this quote.

"The wall is fallen,
Women are weeping; the wood is blazing
and the fire flaming as a far beacon."

Some of Torhthelm's histrionics from The Homecoming of Beorhtnoth.

Estelyn Telcontar 03-11-2007 07:57 AM

Indeed! Take it away, Sir Sq.

The Squatter of Amon Rûdh 03-11-2007 08:28 AM
