<font color="orange">Frodo 007 just gives me a crazy mental image of Frodo in a tux trying to woo all the ladies. The name's Baggins... Frodo Baggins.
|
Here's a great new one: dancing spawn of ungoliant .
Somehow, I find the mental image of one of Ungoliant's offspring dancing a little jig highly amusing. |
Oh, Saucepan Man, you beat me to it! Everytime I see the name dancing spawn of ungoliant I start giggling wildly.
|
I think Trippo The Hippo is a winner!
The Saucepan Man is also great... I really like his picture... Makes me laugh... *Nova* |
Thank you Novnarwen. I agree with you The Sauce Pan Man's avatar is cool. I like when people have themes going.
|
Yavanna has told me that we name means "Fruit". Lovely!
|
I like yours, Trippo the Hippo :) It is funny and quite original
|
I am surprised no one has mentioned davem; it has quite a subtle elegance to it when you say it out loud (unless it is meant to be pronounced "Dave M" - I'm not entirely sure).
On a slightly different note, I would like to nominate Tuor Turambar, Cursed by the Valar, for obvious reasons. |
My favorite is purplefluffychainsaw. Makes me laugh every time I see it.
|
*sighs* I just had to be SO original in picking my name.
Well, I also nominate purplefluffychainsaw along with bombariffic (I love that!), and a new person here at the 'Downs, Ruler of the Frogs. I don't know why, but I just love that one. :D Anything but Arwen and Oddwen are my honorable mentions. ;) |
I will not stand out with much of originality but I shall tell my admire for the nicknames The Saucepan Man , Trippo the Hippo (sounds cute somehow :p ) , Lush (the black cat avvie fited this nick very good) and Bethberry .
Ophe |
I like... hmmm...
mark12_30 the perky ent Sirithheruwen Trippo the Hippo The Saucepan Man Meh, there's more, but my brain is fried from the heat. |
I secretly envy Mister Underhill his moniker and his erudition.
I find myself wondering where Heren Istarion came from (the name, not the man.) Child of the Seventh Age strikes me as the most canonically clever of all nicks. Ever. And for sheer mystery, Mithadan, whoever he really is. (Drat him.) Others I wonder about often: Orual Sharku (that took guts, or a sense of irony, or both) the various manifestations of Sauron (why?) ditto the various Nazguls |

"I find myself wondering where Heren Istarion came from (the name, not the man.)" If you mean where in Middle-earth it came from in, I have your answer: it is the name of the order of the Istari. If you meant how H-I chose the name... well, he probably just chose it because it sounds cool. :smokin: I envy the cleverness of The Squatter of Amon Rudh. The name is original & pleasant to say, & the icing on the cake is his location, 'Bar-en-Danwedh', which is synonymous with Amon Rudh while at the same time closely resembling the sound of 'Barrow-downs.' My hat is off. |
HerenIstarion sounds cool...
There is a whole boiling soup of reasons. To quote myself from elsewhere:

BTW, there is a new Tar-Ancalime around BD now. Many cheers and kudos to her (that is, if she is not, in fact, he, as I was back in September 2000 for a day) I remember being welcomed by BW with words like 'she is scholarly type', that was funny. Now the same goes for new Tar-Ancalime too - she is scholarly type too, or so I figured :) Another strange thing just noticed - whenever Mithadan's mystic pseudonym is discussed, I inevitably come out (withing proximity of three posts) with explanations concerning my own (look here) There are no chance meetings, eh? Probably one day Mith will crack up and give away the secret of his name. I crave to learn it, I do. PS Quote:

HI - do you seriously expect this forum to tolerate all your 5 different alter egos? As we all know, one of you is enough! :D Sticking to HI was ok though, it's got a fine ring to it. Nice pick!
well, I only read the last two pages, sorry, no time! burrahobbit,Lush,Estelyn Telcontar, Squatter of Amon Rudhwere already mentioned... Some new ones I like off the top of my head: The Perky Ent , Sleepy Ranger- cracked me up the first time I saw it :D; also I like the guy who would be short, and there was once someone (I haven't seen him for a while, though) whose nick was The Rip Designs Dude, and his hobbit name in the ME Name Generator was Pippin Took - how cool is that? Of course he boasted of it all over ME Mirth - or was it Novices and Newcomers? But seriously now - Pink Viggo? eh... |

I too like davem. It's kind of...oh...I just like it. The Perky Ent is also a name I really love. Eowyn Skywalker is also very cool. Blah, there's more but I can't think of any anymore. |
You have a pretty interesting nick, Sirithheruwen. I like the double h. :D
|
Squatter, I am equally glad to give such undue credit, but you should have kept quiet about it being a coincidence. It would have made us both seem cleverer. ;)
|
Hmmm... I like:
purplefluffychainsaw Morgul Queen Dancing Spawn of Ungoliant The Only Real Estel the guy who be short Elennar Starfire The Saucepan Man tom bombariffic LePetitChoux -- although it is interesting that Choux is plural, but Le is singular  The Squatter of Amon Rudh Orlando's Top Fangirl -- it's just so *original* Oddwen High King Fingolfin -- because he's my little brother and I helped pick out the name. ;) Luthien_Tinuviel *Varda* mark12_30 ElenCala Isil Those are all the ones that come to mind at moment. |
I'd like to nominate a new nick that I find clever: Elf @ Heart

I'm fond of Perky Ent, and Saucepan Man.. woo. And Meela.. I think that name rocks. Ineviatably, the guy who be short, is a wonderful name. ^^ And Dancing Spawn of Ungoliant and... Marigold Gamgee! Does that count? *goes on and on* |
I like the names The Perky Ent and The Saucepan Man.
SpM, is your name taken from Enid Blyton's 'Saucepan Man' who is a very funny (and partially deaf) character in the Faraway Tree series and who also makes a brief appearance in A book of Brownies? Delightful books. |

I have a soft spot for Gimpel the Fool . You know, The only true wisdom consists of knowing that you know nothing. and all that good stuff.
|
I like these the best:
Hookbill the Goomba Squater of Amon Rudh Propagandalf Anything But Arwen The Saucepan Man mark12_30 Witty, catchy, original. |
Propagandalf and Anything but Arwen are great names...I also love InklingElf, because of the Inkling part mainly...The Saucepan Man is of course wonderfully kooky...I remember a Boromir the Disco Llama though I've not seen that name around for quite a while...
Oromin likes my name! I feel so loved... :D |
Perky Ent.... because it is a bit "hasty"
Squatter of Amon Rudh because it is intriguing... Fordim Hedgethistle ... because it could be the name of a regular at "The Pony" Child ofthe7th Age and Evisse the Blue.... because they are mysterious.. Lady Snickerdoodle ... because it makes me laugh |
Radagastly is a good one...
|
The Perky Ent
NightKnight Evisse the Blue SaucePanman Inkling Elf |
I love Esgallhugwen's nick, probably because I accent the "hug" in the middle of the word. So I say it "es-gall-HUG-wen". I have no clue if that is how you say it, or how it is supposed to be said, but I like it all the same!
|
Awww Well thank you Sirithheruwen its so nice to hear others comments about your name, avatar or sig. I'm not sure how to pronounce it exactly, it may be more of a, es-gal-lhug-wen, thats how I pronounce it ;)
