Tar-Aldarion was the only one to die of natural causes.
|
Lomelindi's got it! Your turn.
|
How about this…
Frodo Huan Voronwë Thorin Oakenshield |
Thorin was the only one who was never in Valinor? Assuming Huan came from there and Voronwe once went there too....I don't remember what race he was from, but he was in Gondolin with Turgon's people, so he could have been a Noldor.
|
Nope. Try again.
|
Frodo never killed anyone that we know of?
Frodo was the only one to bear a Ring of Power? Huan was the only dog? Frodo the only hobbit? Voronwe the only elf? Thorin the only dwarf? Thorin the only one in your list to have a surname? [ May 10, 2002: Message edited by: Susan Delgado ] |
I sense that I have offended…and confused.
Here's a hint: three of them did––or rather, went on––something the fourth didn't. Hope that might help you out. |
Voronwë was the only one who did not go on a quest?
|
You got it, Joy!
Your turn for a riddle, my precioussssss… |
But Voronwe did go on a quest. He went searching for Valinor. Just because he failed does not make it less of a quest.
|
Sorry, my bad. ::does the famous Pippin cringe, hears Susan scolding her:: "Fool of an LE! Throw yourself in next time, and then you will be no further nuisance!"
I'm sorrrryyyyy… ::runs and cowers:: |
::Stands tall and looks very sternly at Lomelindi for a moment, then descends into giggles:: Ahhh, fuhgeddaboutit
Can I ask one? |
Actually, Joy got the question right, so she's supposed to continue the thread.
|
Here goes. This is my first try at this.
Ingwë Finwë Elwë Lenwë Manwë |
Manwë is the only one who didn't lead a particular group of Elves?
Because Manwë is chief of the Valar, while all the rest are leaders of certain Elf races. |
Is Manwe the only onw who isn't an elf at all?
|
Lómelindi is correct. Susan you are too. But Lómelindi got it first.
|
Okay…I'll give you a hint on this one.
All but one of these people encountered a certain thing. Fram Eärendil Fëanor Bilbo Baggins |
All of them met a dragon except Feanor, when he was killed dragons weren't made yet.
|
Le, mellon. Correct, Dior. Your turn.
|
Ok, all but one of these were resting somewhere peacefully for a while, until something catastrophic happened.
Fingon Turgon Fingolfin Hurin |
Whoops, make that
Fingon Turgon Huor Hurin |
Well, all of them lived in Gondolin, except for Fingon. Is that what you mean? Then the catastrophic thing would be Nirnaeth Arnoedied, the Battle of Unnumbered Tears.
|
No, but you kinda got warmer when you mentioned the Fifth Battle, and it wasn't the catastrophic thing that happened.
|
I think we need another hint.
|
Geez, how much more easy can I make it? Lets see... How about, they were all resting at that place after the fifth battle except one of 'em.
|
Well, Húrin sure wasn’t resting after the Fifth Battle since he was, uh, captured and put on Thangorodrim?
|
Oh FACE! Make that,
Fingon Turgon Tuor .......Forget it, I was trying to say they were resting in the great mound of the slain, but I can't find someone else, so, someone else start one. Oh, and the catastrophic event would be the War of Wrath. Crap, Lomelindi, I thought I had people stumped. |
I'll go.
Aragorn Tour Hurin Thingol It's probably easy, but ah, well. Oh, it's not that Aragorn is the only one not in the Silmarillion. |
Aragorn is the only one from the third age; Numenorean
Tuor is the only man to be counted among the Eldar Hurin is the only one to meet Morgoth face to face Thingol is the only elf, only one to see the Two Trees of Valinor while they are alive. [ May 24, 2002: Message edited by: Lindolirian ] |
No, no, no, and no, but those are all very good answers.
Think relationships with other people. [ May 24, 2002: Message edited by: Susan Delgado ] |
Hurin is the only one to not marry outside of his race.
|
You know the subject matter quite well, don't you Lindolirian?
|
Yes i try to remember such things...
Incanus Hurin Thalion Goldberry Peregrin Took |
Hrm…all but Goldberry were captured and held by a dark power of some sort? (Incánus-->Balrog, Húrin Thalion-->Morgoth, Peregrin Took-->Sauron, via the Palantír)
|
No think of something they all did.... or did in i should say......
|
Who is Incanus?
|
Thats part of the hard stuff. ya gotta figure out who he is... but Lomelindi seems to know.
|

|
Incanus, Hurin, and Peregrin all fought in wars against a dark power (Melkor and Gorthaur the Cruel) Goldberry did not.
