In some perverse ways I find myself in complete agreement with that. ;)

See? Just put your brain on hold and it all just starts making sense.

And someone's children have to dig the ditches...

Balin999 06-14-2005 01:18 AM

Hey ho,
I guess most of you won't know me since I'm not very active at the moment (my last post was about a year ago). Well, at least Helka should know me since he is one of the old regs too :).
anyways, I sent Tigerlily a new, more recent picture. Hope you like it.

edit: I wonder why no one has mentioned yet that dancing spawn of ungoliant is quite cute, too :D

dancing spawn of ungoliant 06-14-2005 02:00 AM

*Blush* Thank you! :)

elronds_daughter 06-14-2005 06:55 AM

Oh, but we have mentioned it! Fea made mention of Spawn taking away some of her fans... ;) Which I think is quite aplicable. :D

I remember you.

If I recall, we had a deal that if I could find you, you would give me free room and board for the year. :p

It's been a long time. Welcome back.

Her pic went up when she and I were conspiring werewolves (see ME Mirth if you're confused) so I just tacked on my comment about her pic to a pm.

So, I mentioned it, just not right here on the thread.

She rejected my marriage proposal, though. I was quite disappointed. She said something about "but you're in Nebraska and I'm in Finland, plus I've never met you".

I just don't understand her reasoning.

Kuruharan 06-14-2005 07:00 AM

Fea will be quite upset when she hears.

Gil-Galad 06-14-2005 07:02 AM

a-ha ha ha...poor phantom..., you should have taken it easier...i know i did...bah i've lost all interest

But honey, you must understand that if you want to make a pack of cubs, the distance might be an issue... ;)

I thank you all for your kind comments and for boosting my egocentrism ! :)

Red or Dead?

Is it my imagination, or do the Barrowdowns harbour more than their fair share of redheads?

Oh, yes, I'm sure she will be. But she had it coming. True she gave me a "yes", but she keeps putting it off. In January she said "as soon as I graduate", then in March she changed it to "after I turn 18 in August", and now she says "after I get my degree".

After that, I'm sure it will be "after I get a new job", and then "after I get my big promotion", and then "after I retire".

I just can't take that torture any more.

But I proposed a solution to that. Every other weekend, have your friends pack you in a box and mail you to me. On the other weekends I'll do the same.

What is your objection to that?

(I'm not sure you should answer that, I suspect we're rather close to receiving a slap from the mods for being off topic)

Not just in your imagination Lalaith but maybe there's a reason. Someone commented before that the BD's look less geeky than expected. Well red hair is technically due to a mutation so maybe we get the mutants intead :D .

But this does depend on how many of them are real redheads.

I for one am not. :p I'm a brunette actually. I dye my hair red as a tribute to the lovely lady in your avatar, Kath. :D

Orominuialwen 06-14-2005 04:08 PM

Although my picture doesn't really look like it, my hair is reddish-brown in real life, and it is natural.

Lathriel 06-14-2005 05:42 PM

Going way back to Alatar's post on the previous page...The pun was unintended. I didn't realize I had made one untill you mentioned it :D

Yes, that's reasonable. Now I'll just have to imagine you with blue long hair and really pale skin :p

Probably, so I suggest we make our parcel schedules by pm.

Dang it! I was gonna do that during the summer. Well at least since we probably live half the world apart no one can say I copied you!

Lush 06-15-2005 06:15 AM

Mmmm, let's see.

Lalwende is definitely one of my favourite redheads, as well as my favourite photographer (as I already mentioned, davem's picture is gorgeous).

I'm obsessed with Aina's haircut. Favourite accessory is currently a tie between Heren's bandana and Elennar's flowers.

And Mad Baggins is most effortlessly chic.

So there.

HerenIstarion 06-15-2005 06:42 AM

Yours truly and his bandana are always at your service, my lady

*bows

Balin999 06-15-2005 08:58 AM

Woho I'm glad that at least someone still knows me. And phantom, I have to confess that I've forgotten about our deal, but it came to my mind again when I read about it in your post... I guess I'd have been rather surprised if you were standing in front of my door and saying "it's me, phantom... finally"
:)

And I made a mistake, I wrote that "Helka" should remember me, though I meant
HerenIstarion, don't ask me why I confused the names, but well, it's been a while...

And I always said and keep telling her that Lush is quite a hottie, too *harrrr*

And phantom since I live in Austria, I'm nearer to Dancing spawn of ungolianth. ;)

I can contain my upset only if I am part of the wedding party. ;) But tp, what ever happened to us performing the most impressive service to the world and combining our flawless genetics to make beautiful, brilliant, cunning, and witty beings that will surpass even ourselves? *sigh*

Alas, now it must wait longer. "As soon as I graduate" is in barely over a week, and I'll just be too busy for a long distance marriage this summer. "after I turn 18 in August" won't work, because I've reserved that time period for the piercing that I went to get a week ago and could not.

Now the better thing to do would be for you, Mister Traveller, to relocate to my part of the country. ;) Placing all the responsibility on me like that... what could you be thinking?

And a remarkably more on-topic comment, Balin, although I do not remember you well, I recognize your name. That must count for something, right?

That's really nice of you to say Lush, I've been getting some nasty feedback from my friends who all preferred my long hair. This makes me feel better.

I wonder if I'm counted in this "red hair" observation. I've never been sure what colour my hair is. I call it Strawberry blond...but I still like to think of myself as a redhead. What think?

obloquy 06-15-2005 05:48 PM

Photo of me for the curious. That's a little old, though, so my hair is a bit different now. Feel free to add it to the BD gallery.

Might I suggest a razor? ;)

...or a lawn mower?

Esgallhugwen 06-15-2005 08:49 PM

Woah, dude! I second Gil-Galads motion for a lawn mower. Groovitude :p

Orominuialwen 06-15-2005 08:56 PM

That's got to be a wig...

Kuruharan 06-15-2005 09:01 PM

Tsk! Shame on you people urging the shaving (or mowing) of a beard and really, really big hair!! :p

Esgallhugwen 06-15-2005 09:17 PM

Your right it is probably a wig, but still. I don't mind seeing a long beard ie: Gandalf's as long as it's well kept.

THE Ka 06-15-2005 11:13 PM

No! they should keep it, but backcomb it adding aquanet!

Sorry, I make it a habit to impersonate Robert Smith... ( His hair is so beautiful!)

But, anyways, you remind me of my friend Roberto. Except, your fro is taller.

I guess my post count will explain why I'm remembered or known by only few members.
But I appreciate that you recognize me :)

HerenIstarion 06-16-2005 04:44 AM

Wink-wink. Wink.

The followng post consists of winks, mainly

Not only you, Balin, but your alter ego Sauron too ;)

I remember seeing your pic as well, one with helicopter looming on the background. I suppose it will fit nicely, what with alleged ability to fly or hover ghosts are famous for

I remember the time when 400 odd posts was considered an enourmous amount as well ;)

Aina, no worries, your hairstyle is awesome!

I was counting you in that Aina, and your hairstyle is great! Makes you look very elf-like. :D

And I also remember Balin999 but only from old threads - possibly in the Quiz Room?

Orominuialwen 06-16-2005 11:10 AM

I too remember Balin 's old picture. He looked rather like Elijah Wood in it, and I recall that he spent a lot of time explaining to people that he didn't really look like Elijah in real life, just in that picture.

Balin999 06-16-2005 11:47 AM

Wow I'm almosut famous around here :)
To be honest, I forgot that some people thought that I looked like Elijah wood.
But the pic I send Tigerlily is very different... I'm wearing a suit and in the meantime I've grown a goatie ... or sth like that.
It's possible that you know me from the old quiz room threads... but they most be very old since I haven't posted there since.... a 100 years or so :)
Your right Heren, I had that Sauron999 account... well well well.... the times they are a-changing.
I'm in an online clan at the moment (we play a Half-life-mod, not counterstrike, though)
and there I'm known by the name Targon. Any know where that guy comes up in Lotr? ;)

Arwen Imladris 06-16-2005 03:46 PM

Isn't he one of the men of Gondor? Oh wait for it, "Soldier, Third Company, Citadel Guard (Minas Tirith)". Ha. *Does little Dance*

Ok, right, on topic.

Very nice job Tigerlily! I don't really understand your picture, Gil-galad! And is that a picture you drew yourself, Abercrombieofrohan? Looks nice.

I don't have any pictures of me on my computer, but if I ever get around to scanning one, I'll send it over.

VanimaEdhel 06-17-2005 04:15 PM

Moi

If anyone was ever curious, HERE I am. Probably the only time you'll see me without makeup.

Encaitare 06-17-2005 10:23 PM

That's a really pretty necklace. :)

Tigerlily Gamgee 06-17-2005 11:07 PM

Sorry that I haven't updated in a while... my life has been rather, er, busy, interesting, disappointing, frustrating... well, I've covered the map of emotions, and I haven't been motivated to do much else. I'll try to update before I take my mini vacation, though... but I can't promise that it will get done. Depression has been winning lately, so I don't know what chance motivation stands against it.
