Meela 05-18-2003 05:37 AM

GaladrielOfTheOlden
Mithadan
The Only Real Estel
Anything But Arwen
Sophia The Thunder Mistress

I know this isn't a forum nick (its actually on the chatroom) but I'd like to add Pink_Viggo to the list.

eleanor_niphredil 05-18-2003 05:48 AM

I would say that any nickname that took any amount of time to think up is worthy of a nomination. Any simple Legolas9 or aragorn2 is not worth nominating.

Yup... thats how it comes out!! It's one long name.... I have never seen GlikuyfjutdjFairy (what ever fairy) post..

Arafangwen 05-18-2003 10:02 AM

Why do I always seem to find some of the better threads so late into the game?

Meela
Rynoah, the Overly Happy
Trippo the Hippo
mark12_30
Skippy the Nazgul
anythingbutArwen
DayVampyre
Hilde Bracegirdle
zifnab
Sauron_the_Abhorred
Elvish Princess
Rosa_Baggins
TolkienGurl
kittiewhirl1677
Firondoiel
the phantom
Sharku

That was a lot but there are a lot more. I guess I just have a very open mind. But I like all of those, they bring the funniest images to mind!

Exactly! And did I mention your name? I don't think I did so I am now.

Niluial

a few reasons for that, that name just rolls off your tounge beautifuly, the meaning is also beautiful, which both suit her perfectly! I'm done raving now. Off to stalk .

Meela 05-18-2003 01:26 PM

I wish I had chosen a more interesting name... curse my mind of 2002!

Arafangwen 05-18-2003 01:38 PM

In case you didn't notice Meela, your name is at the top of my list, I love it! Although it does make me think of Grima for some odd reason....

Meela 05-18-2003 01:51 PM

Thanks, I noticed, but I dont see my nick like everyone else does

Lol, yeh, the fact that i have a grima obsession does put me down as being linked to Grima... Sound the same, too... Greema... Meela... Greela... Meema... Geela... Mreema... ok, I'll stop now...

GaladrieloftheOlden 05-18-2003 02:14 PM

I wasn't here but would like to thank Tarien Ithil, Niluial, and Meela for saying my nick was nice, even though I don't like it
I like all of yours too
I also like Estelyn Telcontar's nick because it sounds so nice.

~Menelien

Tarien Ithil 05-19-2003 11:43 AM

Oh, GaladrieloftheOlden, it's a great pleasure.

Anyway, no matter what you think, I still think your nick is cute.

Best Wishes,

Tarien Ithil

I am so glad my nick just slides off of the tongue. I was not going to take this name because I could not pronounce it … hehe … but now I can.. and I love my name too

Arafangwen 05-19-2003 01:57 PM

Has anyone else seen these?

Pookabunny
Feared Half-Elf
SilverEmbers
Keeper of the Feet of Melkor
Taure Leafsilver
Sillabub

Personaly those just jump out at me like a little kid on halloween.

Meela 05-19-2003 02:02 PM

Yeh, I love Feared Half-Elf. Such a great name! And so is SilverEmbers.

Arafangwen 05-19-2003 03:02 PM

I just found another great one!

Mizu the Disco Llama

Uh-oh, now Beren's not the only one who makes me think of a certain llama in a green shirt.....

GaladrieloftheOlden 05-19-2003 03:42 PM

I really like lots of nicks, but my all-time favorite is most ceertainly propagandalf But there are many which are really amazing, it's just that that one sends me into fits of giggling every time I see it

~Menelien

Edit: Capitalization...

He does have a funny nick, but lots of people have funny nicks too!

Like Maril and Trippo. I'd say Saucepan Man's nick is one of the most original.

Amanaduial the archer 05-27-2003 12:04 PM

The Saucepan Man is from The Faraway Tree, isnt he? I like that name just because it reminds me of the book title, and it is such a dreamy book title...

A few others...

Mithadan- it reminds me of a character in a book I read, who was a pretty cool character, albeit an evil one. But hey, they're often the best. Well, either that or annoying.

Glingleglingleglinglefairy- even if I can't pronounce it! Its generally a cool name, and its a character in one of the Discworld books, books which are, although on a slightly different slant, on the same level as LotR in my opinion.

Childlike Empress- I just like it. Plus, it sounds like it could have great potential for an RPG character.

Marileangorifurnimaluim- splendid in its unpronouncibility!

Gorothlammothiel- because it shortens to Moth. (sorry, sorry...)

It seemed like a good idea at the time- a fairly new member, I think, and I'm not entirely sure of the spacing. Its just cool!

The guy who be short- short people unite! Plus it sounds slightly leprecaun-esque...

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 05-27-2003 12:42 PM

Childlike Empress
The Childlike Empress is a character from the Neverending Story. A classic book and slightly less than classic movie . I also am quite fond of this nick.

I'm also quite fond of the names
Maikadilwen and Maikafanawen. I have no idea what "maika" means, but I like the way it sounds.

Sophia

Amanaduial the archer 05-27-2003 12:49 PM

Yes, what does Maika mean? It appears in a few nicks.

When you do translate some of the elvish sounding names, they're quite nice, and quite thoughtful, even if they have only bee slung together randomly from a name generator, like my own.

Tinuviel of Denton 05-31-2003 09:56 PM

I like Gorothlammothiel, ElfChick, TolkienGurl, burrahobbit...oh, there are too many to name.

Never mind about you, burra.

steve 05-31-2003 11:31 PM

I gota say Burrahobbit is my favorite nickname, just jumps out at you, and that he would remember that little part in the hobbit and use it, I just love that nickname

Helkahothion 06-01-2003 04:40 AM

Purplefluffychainsaw
Anythingbutarwen
Amanaduial the archer

Maikadilwen 06-01-2003 08:59 AM

Quote:

Yes, what does Maika mean?
It means "sharp/piercing" which is why so many people are convinced it's refering to my tongue....

And yes, there have become quite a few with that in their names, but I was the first!

Tinuviel of Denton 06-06-2003 12:53 AM

Shadowfax Clawson
Sapphire_Flame
Cerulean Fire (hmm, sounds familiar)
littlemanpoet
lore_master (a little presumptuous, think ye?)
Dragoneyes (dragons are so cool, only in Tolkien they're evil )

Tarien Ithil 06-14-2003 01:00 AM

Niluial
Aylwen Dreamsong
GaladrieloftheOlden
Tinuviel the Nightingale
Mornie Alantie

And a whole lot more....will update!!

GaladrieloftheOlden 06-14-2003 08:37 AM

Tinuviel of Denton is a name I like. I don't quite know why, but it seems original.

~Menelien

Tinuviel of Denton 06-14-2003 01:53 PM

Actually...

I picked it because Tinuviel was taken.

Oh, yes, speaking of which...

Tinuviel Took (Elf hobbit. Cool)
Tinuviel the Nightengale (A bit redundant, but still cool)
Luthien_Tinuviel (She got here first. Waaah!)

and any other names having to do with Luthien. I want to be her! (Except I don't think I'm brave enough.)

Trippo The Hippo 06-14-2003 01:58 PM

I'll just say thanks to everyone who liked my nick. You guys rock.

p.s. You like my new sig?

Diamond18 06-14-2003 02:49 PM

Our newest member at the moment:

Who the heck is that?

Hasn't made any posts yet, but I love the name. Though I'm not sure how we're going to shorten it for conversation purposes. WTHIT? Yes, Wthit. Pronounced "with it". Perfect.

Cúdae 06-14-2003 03:24 PM

I'm late. Why does this always happen? Oh well, here are my nominations:

the phantom
Cuthalion
(being a little partial to names starting with "cu")
Silmarien
Kalessin
the real findorfin
Celebmornie
TolkienGurl

Yavanna228 06-14-2003 04:03 PM

One that I like:
hobbit punk
This name makes me smile every time I see it. Hobbits are the least likely, in my mind, to go punk, so it's sort of ironic. Very nice.
Peace

Horse-Maiden of the Shire 06-14-2003 06:03 PM

Yes, I do like hobbit punk as well. I used it for my website...and my sig....oops...

Aww nobody likes mine? Wah! Lol, just kidding. I like:

Sophia the Thunder Mistress
The Saucepan Man
hobbit punk
Glingleglingleglinglefairy

Would you believe that's another of my sisters? How funny.

I can't believe no one's mentioned

The Barrow-Wight.

That is the best nick on the Downs, no contest.

QuickSlash 06-14-2003 08:34 PM

Ah, I'm not going to read all through this, as five pages are far too much for me.

Maril (or Marileangorifurnimaluim) HAS to get props for having such a long, creative name. ~_^

But, my favorite little...presonal description, if you will, is definitely Birdland's, with The Ghastly Neekerbreeker. Always loved that.

MLD-Grounds-Keeper-Willie 06-14-2003 09:18 PM

Actually, the Barrow Wight has been mentioned, but that's ok. I do things like that too.

I nominate, burrahobit, Orual, the Barrow Wight, The Saucepan Man, Tar-palantir, Helkahothion, HerenIstarion, LePetitChoux, Gwaihir the Windlord, Iarwain -who could forget that one? not me-, littlemanpoet, Child of the 7th Age, Diamond18 cheesemaster, the witch king, Túroch, and Theoric Windcaller.

Well, that's a lot, but I like all those nicks. However, I think that the best one has to be MLD-Grounds-Keeper-Willie. Whoever that person is must be really smart, and I'm sure he's soooo cool, I mean, just look at his nick, it's the best handsdown, who could argue with that? (that was a rhetorical question, it needs no answer, no one can argue)....

Tinuviel of Denton 06-14-2003 10:07 PM

Gee, I have no idea who that could be. I suppose the name's okay. Maybe.

Burrahobbit. Not burrahobit.

arelendil
Dorelnar
Jessica Jade (even though I have no Middle-Earthly idea who that is)
Tigerlily Gamgee (I really like Tigerlilies, they're pretty)
Amanaduial the archer (interesting picture that one brings to mind...)
Envinyatar (the renewer. Cool.)
Elora (related to Danan, I wonder )

Horse-Maiden of the Shire 06-14-2003 10:32 PM

that's what i always think when i see that name! but i thought it was Danon? or Danone. Oh well.

I like QuickSlash too.
