I do know I've read it just having a horrible horrible mind block.... is it Frodo to Gandalf? That doesn't sound right but this block is annoying me so thats the best I can do sadly
|
Nope, keep trying. Hope the block goes away; I hate it when that happens.
|
even when he sneaks out at night it is only to look at the stars, I believe this is Saruman to Wormtongue?
|
It's Saruman speaking of Wormtongue... but not to him...
|
*headdesk * Of course. I most certainly need to read RotK again!
|
Don't be daunted! Want a hint?
|
Saruman to Frodo, in the Scouring of the Shire.
|
Indeed you are right, Firefoot! Go ahead!
|
Thanks.

We have work to do, and this is no time or place for riddling or parleying.
It was said by Faramir, I think to frodo and Sam in Ithilien LOSTREGIEL |
Yep. Your go.

ofts sa tetrub tyhe anc eb, dan tey omsimtese sa gohut sa dol erte toros
there it is ( I hope i didn´t commit any mistake, I´ve checked quite a few times, just in case ) LOSTREGIEL |
Answer?
“Soft as butter they can be, and yet sometimes as tough as old tree roots,” was said by Gandalf to Frodo in The Shadow of the Past, FotR.
|
Right, Rimbaud!
Your turn LOSTREGIEL |

Bingo!
Or more accurately, as luckily Bingo was renamed...Frodo!
The floor is yours. |

I just felt like answering something, although I have no idea who said it. I recall a warping of this line from the movie, but I think perhaps in the book it was Elrond? |
Right quote, wrong speaker.
|
Sounds very much like Galadriel to me............one of those really helpful elvish comments... ;)
|
'Twas Galadriel indeed. Your turn.
|
"owe-gebteton tripis, laff won toin krad vilbonoi, nad torgef orf a hilew eth feardlud mood fo file"
Hope that works... |
"woe-begotton spirit, fall now into dark oblivion, and forget for awhile the dreadful doom of life."
Luthien to Carcharoth. |
Solved so quickly but I take comfort from the fact that at least it was solved by it's speaker!!! Over to you Miss Tinuviel :D
|
Yes, my delight in her character certainly helped me with this one. :)
Next: ...nda ew lhasl ese ndlaafgs draeb lnugicr enew eh surretn. |
And we shall see Gandalf's beard curling when he returns?
Pippin? |
correct :)
|
Gosh that really does show how well Tolkien gave each character a "voice" cos it sounded like Pip but I still can't place the quote :o
"Nyam rae het genrats shaccen fo eth drowl dan elph tof halls moce morf eth dansh fo het kwea " |
Many are the strange chances of the world and help oft shall come from the hands of the weak
-Gandalf.. |
Yes indeed.....
Love your avatar .... btw .... now if Viggo hadn't been available .... how about Hugh J for Aragorn :p |
Mithalwen, the 'beard-curling' quote is found toward the very end of the chapter entitled Flotsam and Jetsam. Pippen is saying that Gandalf's beard would curl if he had ent-draught to drink! :)
|
Somewhat OT

Well it would be an interesting interpretation ......
Thanks Luthien .... I thought it could well be something like that but had misplaced TTT :) |

"Doom hangs still on a thread", but I don't know who said it - Gandalf?
|
Thats 2 of 3
Now just find out to whom it was said and you have a corect answer.
|
Did he say it to Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli?
|
Yes, take it away Firefoot. Oh and reminiscent to old times, "Good Job!"
