The Saucepan Man 04-13-2003 05:05 PM

Anglachel, as it was forged by an Elf, Eol, whereas Angrist, Narsil and Helm of Hador were all forged by a Dwarf, Telchar.

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 04-13-2003 06:58 PM

Bingo! I was looking for Telchar... Please carry on!

The Saucepan Man 04-13-2003 07:18 PM

Thank you kind Thunder Mistress.

Beer-barrel
Clock
Kettle
Poker
Rope
Shovel

The Saucepan Man 04-15-2003 05:19 PM

Anyone?

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 04-15-2003 05:20 PM

I'm not even touching this one my index hunting techniques don't hold so good with general objects.

lathspell 04-16-2003 11:03 AM

When is a 'poker' mentioned in the books? I don't know what it is (being Dutch), or do you mean the cardgame???

lathspell

Durelin 04-16-2003 02:23 PM

Uhhhh...I'll guess but...????

Rope because it was the only thing the elves made.
or
A beer-barrel because it is the only thing Biblo would keep in his cellar?

?????

Good one Saucepan Man! Very good! *applauds*

It's a long metal thingy that you poke logs onto a fire with.

Right item, wrong reason. I need the reason.

Getting very warm (like a nice cosy hobbit hole *hint*)...

elven maiden Earwen 04-16-2003 07:15 PM

rope because its the only thing Sam had.

The Saucepan Man 04-16-2003 08:27 PM

No, the other items all have something in common that the rope does not ...

elven maiden Earwen 04-16-2003 09:11 PM

rope wasnt in the hobbit

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 04-16-2003 09:41 PM

*with the air of someone presenting great wisdom* A rope has no metal parts...

*shakes head* you're too tricksy for me, O Saucepan Man...

Sophia

Rumil 04-16-2003 09:51 PM

Rope's the only one that Uncle Andy made - obvious !!

Estanesse 04-18-2003 05:16 PM

All are mentioned as an item in Bilbo his hole except the rope

[ April 18, 2003: Message edited by: Estanesse ]

The Saucepan Man 04-22-2003 08:53 PM

You are correct, Estanesse.

All of the items listed except the rope are mentioned in the first chapter of the Hobbit as items kept by Bilbo in his nice warm Hobbit-hole.

Estanesse 04-23-2003 08:36 AM

Thank you.

golden belt
blue hat
spade
silver tassel
silver belt

The Saucepan Man 04-23-2003 05:43 PM

Well Thorin Oakenshield had a blue hood and a silver tassel. Perhaps he had a silver belt to match. And I'm guessing he may at some point have carried a spade.

So, is it the golden belt as being the only item that Thorin never wore or carried?

Estanesse 04-24-2003 09:10 AM

No thats not the answer

Eruanna 04-25-2003 01:11 PM

Is it the blue hat?
That was worn by Gandalf, all the rest were worn or carried by the Dwarves when they visited Bilbo.

lathspell 04-25-2003 01:45 PM

A spade wasn't worn by any member of the Fellowship.

Estanesse 04-26-2003 02:46 AM

Eruanna that’s is the right answer and the right motivation ,
Please carry on,

Eruanna 04-26-2003 05:22 PM

Thank you Try these:

Bow
Flour
Honey
Arrow
Water
Nuts
Dried fruit

[ April 28, 2003: Message edited by: Eruanna ]

Estanesse 04-28-2003 04:54 PM

All are named as items used or eaten by hobbits except strangely enough flour

Eruanna 04-29-2003 04:47 AM

No, that's not it....although you are on the right track.

Estanesse 05-05-2003 03:23 PM

A clue would help I think, Eruanna

Eruanna 05-05-2003 04:29 PM

You were on the right track Estanesse, you had the wrong item though. Think Hobbit, think journey.

Estanesse 05-06-2003 03:33 AM

Is the answer water. Bow, Arrow, Nuts, Dried fruit, Honey and even Flour are a gift from Beor

[ May 06, 2003: Message edited by: Estanesse ]

Eruanna 05-06-2003 02:49 PM

Yes that's it. Beor gave the other items to Bilbo and the dwarves. Water he said, they could find on their way.

Well done Please carry on

Estanesse 05-12-2003 10:42 AM

A sheath
A belt of gold
A silver belt
A bow
A box
A golden hair
A phial

The Saucepan Man 05-12-2003 05:28 PM

Is it the silver belt? They are all gifts of Galadriel to the Fellowship. But there was only one of each except the silver belt, of which there were two: one each for Merry and Pippin.

Eruanna 05-12-2003 05:43 PM

Galadriel gave Gimli three golden hairs.

Oh....is it the hair? All of the other items were gifts chosen by Galadriel to give to the Fellowship, Gimli was the only one asked to choose his gift....the hair

Estanesse 05-12-2003 05:57 PM

Nope and no

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 05-12-2003 08:39 PM

The contents of the box were intended to be shared? The other gifts were more one-man gifts.

Sophia

Estanesse 05-13-2003 05:14 AM

that's not the answer I'm looking for

lathspell 05-15-2003 03:07 AM

The Phial? It's the only thing Galadriel made herself.

Estanesse 05-15-2003 07:33 AM

No phial is not the correct answer

Eruanna 05-15-2003 05:03 PM

Is it the belt of gold?

All of the others were still in use/around at the end of the story. Boromir's belt passed with him down to the sea.

Estanesse 05-17-2003 05:54 AM

You are correct, Eruanna

All the items are at the end of the story in Minas Tirith except Boromir’s belt of gold

Eruanna 05-17-2003 04:54 PM

Well, that was a complete guess.
Try these:

Sword
Scabbard
Waistcoat
Hooded cloak
Walking stick

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 05-17-2003 07:04 PM

Bilbo took all of them except I believe the waistcoat, to Rivendell after the birthday party. The waistcoat he took off and put away.
