Treebeard was what I was looking for. Cirdan is certainly older than Galadriel, having settled in Beleriand before the Vanya and Noldor left for Valinor. Gandalf states that Treebeard is oldest in ME, and Treebeard says something about the first darkness, meaning the time just after the first spring of Arda... Quite an old fellow :-) ... Remember the conversation between Aulė and Yavanna, of the Olvar and the Kelvar. Fasinating !
