Nice to see that my thread is still up and kicking....I do notice that the questions are welll....not vague enough..:p Here is my first post
Vague Descriptions I came up with this new game, might be a good one! Here's how it goes...You make up a question about someone, thing,or place(,LOTR related of course) being as vague as possible.who ever gets it right starts a new one. Please start your questions with that guy/girl,that thing, that place,or something along that line so it's not too vague! I will start... You know that Girl with the feet? The one who's name could describe cheeks? And something soft? The answer of course is Rosie Cotton, but you see how the consept has strayed a little...If this is more desirable for people then, hey keep on truckin' just thought I'd give a heads up.:D |
Yeah, that's true Legate, though I think I was looking for something else...actually forgot that myself
Anyway, you're right Valier, now I realise this is too much like trivia and too little like what you originally had in mind. Good thing you returned to poke us a bit. :D btw, you might be interested to join THIS |
Ok, time for a new new. Remember those from the book that had snake pits?
You mean goblins? :p
Yes, now it's starting to feel like good old times! Tremble, Quiz Room, your nemesis has come!:D |
Yep, of course it's the goblins.
All right. Who were the three and two?
The three and two are the victims of the attack on Bree, where 3 Men and 2 Hobbits perished.
Of course. Could you say names, just for the sake of it? The thread is of course yours :)

Fatty Bolger?
yep
He loved his servants as his children.
You mean that green-skinned man with triangle-shaped neck? ;) I.e. Beorn?
Of course I do mean him. :D
Please take the thread. |
Remember that one who was vulnerable to disease?
could it be Lalaith?
That was the answer I thought someone may post :) But no, we are not told that she was vulnerable to disease, only that it affected her. But the important thing is about the vulnerability. Now since you ruled out this option, there are not many others left. :smokin:
Is it Denethor's wife Finduilas?
Nope. That person did not die from that disease (or, at least, there is nothing about that in the books). :)
I believe you speak of Frodo Baggins, who after returning to the Shire had long periods of illness, especially around the aniversary of his stabbing on Amon Sűl. Because of this vulnerability, he was forced to sail west.
No, no... it was only one specific kind of disease and this person was vulnerable to it.
I keep thinking of Bilbo Baggins and his famous flu, but that is not probably the correct answer...
No, though you are getting closer.
A hint: you won't find the disease this person was vulnerable to in any medic's handbook.
Maybe... another hint?
What about this... the fact that this person had this disease ultimately caused the person to move away from its home place.
Now, after half a year, no attempts were made... yet I don't belive that, at least somebody, would not see what is obvious...
I believe Legate wishes to ultimately win this thread by being the last suriving person to know the answer...
No, really not ;) Come on...
1. There was a person. 2. This person was vulnerable to a certain kind of disease. 3. This disease is a kind you won't usually find in a medic's handbook. 4. It caused this person, eventually, to move far from this person's home place. 5. That person did not die because of the disease, as far as we know. Come on. That is quite a LOT of information. And, okay, I could add, for example: 6. We actually don't know anything about the person since it caught this disease. |

No, no, not really. The disease, if we were to take it literally, was not metaphorical.
Would it be Turin and the Evil Breath of Angband?
Nope, no way. Did you ever read he was vulnerable to it? I didn't.
Forget Angband at last. Forget ill winds. This disease did not spread by wind. It was not spread by, for example, blood contact as well. You won't get the disease if you were eating from the same plate as the person who has it. And so on. You won't find it in a medical's handbook. Not even in a medical handbook of a medic who would work in M-E. |

But is the real answer uhhhh, is the real answer ahhh, is the true answer....dang. I'd better delve into my deepest memories. I've only read a couple of ME books in the last two years at least and my powers of recall are rusty. |
Keep trying then :) The main point, though, resp. the only thing that is stated explicitely in the books is, that this person was vulnerable to the disease. There is not actually explicitely stated that this person actually caught this disease. (Although it of course is plain from the narration, but if we were really picky...)
Just a thought: Arvedui III and some disease in the Northern Wastes?
1. There was a person.
2. This person was vulnerable to a certain kind of disease. 3. This disease is a kind you won't usually find in a medic's handbook. 4. It caused this person, eventually, to move far from this person's home place. 5. That person did not die because of the disease, as far as we know. I see Queen Beruthiel of Gondor and maybe her disease was catomisia?! She loathed cats and because of all the stuff she did with the cats and her strange way of acting she was sent far away from he home place. :D |
