Dark, dark brown (almost back) hair (Curly is an understatement).

So your hair is the same color as mine. But mine is not curly, just a bit wavy... that probably has something to do with the length factor in my hair though...

But I was watching the TV the other day and there was this commercial that came on with the travelocity gnome falling off of a cliff, I thought "That's Groin!" which was probably a really bad thought... I've always pictured Morsul as be the tall, dark, and brooding type. And more than a little like his P&A character (yes, the legs too). Facebook has proven me wrong though. It thwarts imagination!

The thing about me imagining BDers is that I know how way too many of you look. :D

Usually, though, I imagine (or at least associate) Downers with their avvies.

There are those that I've seen photos of, but I still picture them differently (bad habbit!). For example, I just can't see Nerwen without the fair hair of her Galadriel avatar. Lalwende is a cross between Bilbo and Irish (take what you will of it). Others I picture as they are in photos, but still that avvie association lingers there. For example, I always associate Pitch and Zil with blackand white, and Agan with orange/yellow.

There are some that I don't know how they look at all. Mith and Lalaith look exactly like their avvies. Eonwe, despite his description of himself earlier in the thread, is pretty pale, possibly with glasses (but not always), pretty tall, thin, and either has a mop of very fair surly hair or very dark slick hair. I still can't decide on the hair - one day I imagine it one way, and another day it's the other...

Interesting, G55. For the record, I look exactly like my avatar.

We do, we do... save that at this end of summer I am closer to blonde...

This thread was so much fun before the Facebook group. It almost fell into obscurity. Despite the fact that not only have I seen pictures, but actually met Lal in person, on the Barrow-Downs she will always be that picture of Bilbo. It's funny, for some Downers, the people they are on Facebook are different to me than their personas here, and for others, the FB person and Downer are the same.

The only two BDers (besides my sis, she doesn't count) that I can sort of picture are:

G55: I picture her, tallish, slim with a fairly-sized chest and hips, long wavy blonde hair, and confident but humble.

Oddwen: Percy Weasley with Bill Weasley's personality.

Hmm, very interesting... I think the real Galadriel's image has a lot of influence here. Tallish? Hm, average, I'd say. Slim? Not chubby, but can't say I'm slim either. Long wavy blonde hair? It's wavy, but neither blonde not long... Confident and humble? Neither nor. :D

One person I forgot to mention is the Barrow Wight Himself. I see Mr. BWH as a person taller than average, very dark hair, and greyish-blueish eyes. Straight nose. He usually has a serious expression on his face.

It's just that your avvie was an orange-y lion for a long time, then a yellow lion. And, as you say, your hair is blonde. And now even though you've had the black and white avvie for a while, I still can't erase the yellow/orange impression.

Kinda hard not to know what you look like after all the (relatively) recent moots and photos that come with them :p, but I haven't seen this one before. I don't know if I should laugh or cry at the fact that you are more dwarvish here than all of PJ's dwarves put together.

Funnily enough whenever people call littlemanpoet lmp I consistently misread it as Imp and sort of imagine him as a jovial leprechaun.

I actually did not realize that it says Lmp and not Imp until I put things together and understoon that lmp, Elempi, and littlemanpoet are actually the same person. :o Before that, I fully thought someone is being called an imp. :D

I usually tend to imagine people looking very similar to their avatars.

Just so you know, I look almost identical to my avatar, but with a regal composure and menacing eyes.

There used to be a separate Photo Page that is still linked at the top of the forum, but it seems to be out of action.

Talk about a blast from the past. The original photo-page is full of such memories--back before Facebook, when anonymity was actually normal on the Internet, those were (for most of us) our first real pictures of other Downers--and goodness are some of us young back then!

I'm glad to see this thread was upped! I've been meaning to go back to it myself to share some thoughts about newer downers but will have to save it till later - or, well, earlier is the right word here.

Yes, I recall how exciting it was when the photo-page got updated with new photos... I also recall that I was quite exited about peoples reactions to my own photo.

Haha, I'm too fresh a corpse to have seen those days. Nah, I was terribly excited when I discovered the photo page, and just as disappointed when I found out it's at least several years old. But the I met a BD-er thread has some regular updates on the looks of some people. ;)

After we discovered the photo page doesn't work, Volo and I spent a good hour trying to fix it (digging Volo's account details up from the mathom house that's the internet, that is) and found all the old photos still safely tucked away in his hard drive. And man, are they cute! I'll make him do something about the page as long as we're still housemates.

Anyway - now that I found my way here I might as well share some impressions.

I first thought Tar-Jêx was an American or German man in his mid-30s who was really into Númenor and enacted naval battles with miniatures. Now I know most of that is not true but I still think he likes Númenor and wargaming. Also he drinks hot chocolate in the evenings. His hair is light brown and long.

Coppermirror is 19 and American and has reddish blond hair and glasses. She's too clever for school so she spends her classes making crossword puzzles at the back of the room. She rides a bike and likes to read letters by famous authors.

Zigûr has dreadlocks and lots of tattoos and he rides a motorcycle. He's 30-40 and works in IT. He likes to drink beer and watch the sunset in beach boulevard pubs while rereading Sauron Defeated over and over.

Galin is a lumberjack. He's secretly building his own personal Barad-dûr in his backyard.
