Amanaduial the archer 01-21-2003 01:00 PM

Wow, congrats to your sister Morai! Where was she getting married?

Morai 01-21-2003 01:37 PM

Little Church of the West in Las Vegas Nevada. (One of those drive in wedding deals)

Amanaduial the archer 01-21-2003 01:39 PM

Ive been there!

Ithaeliel 01-21-2003 08:57 PM

Hey Aman, is Nuhrive meant to escape or will she be caught? I just wanted to know so there weren't any screw-ups.

doug*platypus 01-22-2003 03:45 AM

If she escapes, then the only motive for the Elves to attack would be either revenge, or for a little kidnapping of their own. In which case there wouldn't be an attack, and a very anticlimactic story. One of us evil guys will post soon, and my guess is that after much dillying and dallying she may eventually be caught (but not yet, as this is a good way to give the elves time to catch up).

Amanaduial the archer 01-22-2003 11:38 AM

Yes, I intend for Nuhrive to get caught again. And Im guessing the bad guys will not be happy about her having run off...

Aylwen Dreamsong 01-23-2003 08:12 PM

Nuhrive was dragged along in a daze, her own dagger point still at her throat, held in the grasp of Ru-Sahn.
Aman, do you mind that Jemel's hawk, Aniram, craftily snatched your dagger? Maybe you could post about it, unless Aniram should send a different token to the company. If it isn't suitable, just say the word and I'll edit the post .

Sorry, but yet again, I used elvish in my post. By the time this game is over, you'll know every "rough" translation there is! Anyway, Jemel says to Aniram, "Mára mahta, Aniram?" hopefully meaning, "Good flight, Aniram?"

Aylwen

Amanaduial the archer 01-24-2003 11:34 AM

Sure Ill post that in my next post. Ru-Sahn can just drop it maybe?

Hmm, talking of Ru-Sahn...where have our baddies gone? I mean, we only had two to start off with, and an NPC or two, so could those two please post.

Ithaeliel 01-24-2003 07:26 PM

Ru-Sahn posted two days ago; I think I'm going to wait for doug to post before I do it again for Ru-Sahn. I feel Feadhros has been a bit neglected by me lately.

doug*platypus 01-25-2003 04:52 AM

I'm still trying to get my head around times, distances and the absence of fords and bridges.

At one point,
Quote:

He was now leading his men back to the Great River to find their rafts.
and then, seemingly on the same night as the boar attack, we were
Quote:

fifty and some leagues off into Mirkwood.
I was trying to think of a way to resolve this, and also looking out for what promised to be an interesting story about a falcon snatching a dagger from the midst of a group of hunters and warriors. I thought that any signs that could be seen around our previous campfires would have proved that we had the elf captive, and Rű-Sahn could have walked off with a nice dagger if he survives for a future quest.

Now that it has been established that he drops the dagger, I can carry on and post - either sometime tonight (sorry, NZ time) or tomorrow afternoon. See you all back on the RPG thread!

Garen LiLorian 01-25-2003 06:18 AM

Wow. Fifty leagues. That's pretty good. That's what, about a hundred and fifty miles? Is that what you meant to say, or am I getting my distances mixed up? It is three miles to the league, right?

EDIT:
Oh, hey, Doug, it's all good. You've also managed to both leave boats on the great river and be tracked by Garen across the entirety of the House of Lorien's lands (from Dimril Dale down to the northern borders of Lórien)

Of course, that's mostly my fault. I just couldn't figure out a way to involve myself otherwise. Your band is just good at wandering.

Doug- Sorry about the drastic location change for the Easterlings; I tend to skim too lightly over some posts and I assumed they were going... well, east. Also, where did it say that the dagger had been dropped? I had it as being snatched out of Ru-Sahn's hand. I'm very sorry for my mistakes.

doug*platypus 01-25-2003 07:15 PM

The Lands of LiLorian

Er... OOPS!! Boy, you men have really been slacking off, lately! Galadriel's not gonna be a happy camper! Sorry, I thought for some reason that your lands were to the south of Lorien. But I guess they're all around. Incidentally, what does Garen look like, is he (as I think) the only man in the search party, and will the Easterlings be instantly able to recognise him as a man and not an elf (I would guess 'yes')?

As for the dagger being dropped, I'm sure that I saw that somewhere on the discussion thread, but now I can't find it!! Doh. Good post for Rű-Sahn though. Since it happens only to him, and he is quite secretive anyway, it fitted in very well.

Garen LiLorian 01-25-2003 10:22 PM

Yes. For several reasons. He is probably shorter and broader than the Elves, although he's tall for a Man, but also because he seems to be a great deal more of a quintessential "fighter" than the rest of the party. He has a spear as well as a sword, and wears light armor and a helmet. Besides, all the rest of them prance around like little, well, elves Garen probably sticks out like a sore thumb.

Also, he's got great clod-hopping Manboots. All the rest of these fairies are wearing moccasins. And he has blond hair. Most elves are dark, right? (Doesn't it say somewhere that only Elves of the house of Finrod have golden hair?)

Susan Delgado 01-26-2003 01:40 AM

Garen, that depends on the tribe: Vanyar are blond, Noldor dark, and Teleri silver. Most Lorien Elves are...uh...Silvan (mixture of Noldor and Teleri: Elf-mutts ), so probably they would not have blond hair.
It was actually the house of Finarfin that was noted for having blond hair (but you were close: Finrod was Finarfin's eldest son). The blond hair came from Finarfin's mother, Indis, who was Vanyar.

Any other thoughts?

I've always found Elven genetics fascinating. I suppose the fact that a single blonde ancestor colored the hair of an entire family means that among Elves, Blond is a dominant trait. Interesting!

doug*platypus 01-26-2003 04:14 AM

What kind? Plate? Leather? Might sound pedantic right now, but will come into play later. I think all the Easterlings would be wearing tough leather to cover their chest, back and thighs, over their tunics and pants. No helmets, and only a few warriors (such as Rogar) with crude, round wooden shields.

Garen LiLorian 01-26-2003 05:34 AM

Hmmm. The thot plickins. What kind of armor? Well, Tolkien was pretty specific that plate armor didn't exist at the time of the Battle of Pelennor Fields, so I think it's safe to say I'm not wearing plate mail. Not to mention it'd be uncomfortable as **** to wear for weeks on end!

So, to answer your question, a corslet of chain mail, a helmet of mithril and steel gauntlets. Otherwise leather. Remember after all that I am a prince. I get the good stuff.

Amanaduial the archer 01-26-2003 12:21 PM

the thot plickens? Hmm, curiouser and curiouser...

Morai 01-26-2003 05:05 PM

Your Distraction is Here!
Grettings, I was wondering when the search party was going to stumble upon the easterlings. Since Harlon's main purpose for being there is to distract the enemy, I was thinking he should be the first to "cartwheel" into the action.

Susan Delgado 01-28-2003 12:16 PM

Ivy, please remember to disable your sig when you post in the game thread.

Aylwen Dreamsong 01-28-2003 01:12 PM

What happened to dragoneyes and Lilebria?

Aylwen

Susan Delgado 01-28-2003 01:37 PM

Well, Lilebrian only posted the once and never even gave us a bio, so I think it's safe to say she's gone. I don't know about dragoneyes.

dragoneyes 01-28-2003 02:22 PM

There's been nothing to do and I'm on an imagination low, sorry. I'm still here though.

Amanaduial the archer 01-28-2003 03:02 PM

She did give a bio. 1st page. But yes, Im pretty sure shes gone.

Ivy of the Woods 01-28-2003 05:40 PM

Oops sorry about that, I keep forgetting to disable it. I will keep that in mind next time I post.

Ithaeliel 02-02-2003 03:22 PM

Hello! Is this RPG dead? Just when it was getting good!

Morai 02-02-2003 04:22 PM

I know why I haven't posted. It's because I've lost the idea of how far the rescue party was from the easterlings.

dragoneyes 02-02-2003 04:50 PM

can we catch up lots for some reason because otherwise we're just riding and riding and riding...

Amanaduial the archer 02-03-2003 02:49 PM

Good plan.

The time at Lorien seemed to have gone alot slower than the easterlings time; Its about 4 days for the easterlings, 2 for the elves. So we're going to do a weird time warp thing methinks and could the elves catch up quite alot.

The easterlings are not happy at Nuhrive. She gets a bit beat up maybe, then that night methinks Im gonna try and escape again. Then it can go two ways (this is a rough outline and can have phaphy bits, dont worry.)

1.) She gets caught. Now the easterlings, especially mystery man Ru-Sahn (ooh, that rhymes!) are REALLY angry and decide they shoudl just get rid of her; shes too much trouble. The elves come storming in at the critical moment though.

2.) She escapes, finds the elves and leads them to the easterlings. Then it might get a little nasty...

If anyone else has a plan, could they post ti here, or if it is more specific and mysterious, could you PM the people who are involved, and myself. Is there a plan for Ru-Sahn?

Susan Delgado 02-03-2003 04:25 PM

I've been trying to think of something for Sultir to do, unsuccesfully so far.

*ahem* "phaphy"?

Morai 02-03-2003 08:42 PM

Ooo..plan number one sounds better even though it might be difficult to post. (At least for the capablities of my wee brain.)

Amanaduial the archer 02-04-2003 12:10 PM

Indeed, I liked one. Come, player, speak now, or forever hold your peace...

Phaphy, you know, like phaphing around. Its a verb, I phaph, you phaph, he/she/it phaphs... *notices weird looks* Ok, Im really gonna shut up now...

Ithaeliel 02-04-2003 07:07 PM

Heyyy! My character's trying to be NICE! I'm also trying to reveal his true past; I think maybe a fitting thing for Ru-Sahn would be when the elves come he finds he knows someone (probably Garen) and either redeems himself or fights to the death. Hmm...

I like your plan, Aman! Good job.

doug*platypus 02-05-2003 04:29 AM

Quote:

That's IF said Easterlings decide to beat her up a bit more. Don't be too masochistic, Nuhrive. After all, she is eventually going to be sold as a (some kind of) slave, and shouldn't be too beaten if it can be helped. The men would rather she walked than had to be carried, as well. I don't think another escape is an option either, the guard on her has been increased since last time. Think the Three Hunters after Merry and Pippin - she will not escape again unless the elves can contrive it.
Quote:

She escapes, finds the elves and leads them to the easterlings.
This would make the prime motive for the elves' attack that of revenge. Unless you've got Fëanor or Ëol in there somewhere, that wouldn't be ultra-likely.

I think the elves (and Garen) could use the horses to their advantage best by skirting around the forest, over open ground. Mirkwood is pretty dense after all, and the men may be slowing down considerably. The men are heading east and will be leaving Mirkwood at its eastern edge. Maybe Aníram can track them from a distance - this would certainly foil their plan to throw the elves off by entering Mirkwood.

If this plan sounds okay, maybe one of the elves (Jemel, perhaps?) can post something to that effect, and then I'll post straight after.

Amanaduial the archer 02-05-2003 12:30 PM

Quote:

Yes, because of course they are so similar.
Sorry about that misunderstanding then! He just seemed a bit...menacing... Thats a good idea though, I like it.

Quote:

Of course not, Im not going to have Nuhrive crippled!!! And of course, it is an IF.

Morai 02-05-2003 06:08 PM

As I said earlier, when the search party discover the easterling's location, it might be best for Harlon to "cartwheel" upon them first. After all, he is the distraction.

I agree, Morai; you could do us a little "Bug's Life" strategy (I'm assuming most of you have seen that movie), but also you could have a little/big moment of heroism and earn some well-deserved respect for 'the fool.'

Ru-Sahn is going to neither be killed nor redeem himself- he's going to flee. He'll not be part of the Easterling tribe anymore and he'll be sorta reliving his past- you'll see what I mean.

Thank ya much,

Feadhros/Ru-Sahn

Amanaduial the archer 02-07-2003 02:46 PM

NO!!!! Ru-Sahn cant leave! Dont just waste a character like that! Come on, at least fight to the death with Garen! (sorry Garen)

Morai 02-07-2003 06:00 PM

Hmm, so much to ponder. To be foolish, or not to be foolish.... Oh my, I don't think Harlon has a weapon. (Of course being the "graceful" elf he is, he might manage to snatch an easterling's weapon.)

Ithaeliel 02-07-2003 08:22 PM

Well... how about I die by my own hand? Ru-Sahn would rather not face defeat. He'll reveal his past in full when he meets Garen and find his life has been for nothing, so he'll die. Sound okay or do we not want suicide?

Also, I would recommend that Sultir be found out sooner than later. I think we're a little too far into the journey already.
