Gandalf_theGrey 12-31-2002 05:11 PM

Thanks, Susan!

My guess at Aragorn_Protector's riddle is Shelob.

In any case, as I owe a riddle submission to this thread here it is below:

No flowery destiny, I become one with flour ground.
Inside a hole, a smaller hole opens round.
I'm planted inside, taken out when baked gold.
Served with tea, shared with kin, or at an Inn sold.

dragoneyes 12-31-2002 05:30 PM

My guess for Gandalf_theGrey's is bread.

Gandalf_theGrey 12-31-2002 06:45 PM

dragoneyes:

Very good guess, though I'm looking for something a bit more specific.

If no one else comes closer, I'll accept your guess as the correct answer.

Meanwhile, think Shire!

Gandalf the Grey

Sindafalathiel 12-31-2002 07:45 PM

to tell the truth, I am completely confused now.

LePetitChoux 01-01-2003 06:42 AM

Seed-Cake?

raci 01-01-2003 10:22 AM

D'ya mind if I add a riddle for people to work on?

I walk through your dreams,
I cannot be seen,
I fly like a bird,
But I'm caged in your head.

Incidently Happy New Year.

Gandalf_theGrey 01-01-2003 02:14 PM

Congratulations, Le Petit Choux!

Seed-cake it is.

Manardariel 01-01-2003 02:44 PM

raci, is it a wish?

dragoneyes 01-01-2003 05:21 PM

Is Raci's imagination?

LePetitChoux 01-01-2003 05:57 PM

I show the false way for wary travellers
I am the death of the immortal
I want you to join me
In the everlasting morass

That is kind of easy I suppose, but I've never made riddles before, so please forgive me

Tigerlily Gamgee 01-03-2003 01:05 AM

Could you give a hint?

Alas, I am having a fit of dumbness...

Gandalf_theGrey 01-03-2003 02:45 AM

My guess is, the candles in the Dead Marshes.

LePetitChoux 01-03-2003 10:22 AM

Well done! It was a candle , but it doesn't matter. http://www.smilies.nl/dieren/grommit.gif

raci 01-03-2003 02:20 PM

Sorry this took so long. Yes Dragoneyes, it was imagination.

Tigerlily Gamgee 01-04-2003 12:01 AM

Alas! My timing on this thread doesn't seem to be very good.

People flee in times of war
Barricades block every door
Shelter in the dark of night
Beautiful to some's sight

Manardariel 01-04-2003 04:52 AM

Helms Caves, behind Helms Deep, the one Gimli thinks are so great?

Tigerlily Gamgee 01-04-2003 11:49 PM

Yup, that's correct.

New riddle anyone?

Manardariel 01-05-2003 08:20 AM

Wherever you´ll find me
I will come and heal
not human, or wizard
nor dwarf with a beard
I´m green and you´ll see me
in forsts deep
and those that use me
awake from dark sleep

Who/What am I?

Sindae 01-05-2003 09:22 AM

the Athelas plant???

Sindafalathiel 01-05-2003 01:40 PM

Kingsfoil, or Athelas,

WarBringer 01-05-2003 03:53 PM

Sindae, your up

Lady_Báin 01-06-2003 08:47 AM

Manardariel 01-06-2003 04:25 PM

Can I do another? Pretty Please?

I come to you when you
do not expect me
I heal and I wound
and encant thee.
You feel your life
is totally new
it is full of grace
that is what I do.

WarBringer 01-06-2003 07:40 PM

Gandalf the White!!!

Tigerlily Gamgee 01-06-2003 10:39 PM

Gandalf the White sounds like a good answer, but I still want to list something else that it makes me think of:
Hope

Garen LiLorian 01-06-2003 11:37 PM

I'd say dreams, but only because hope and Gandalf are taken.

P.S. Menendariel, you missed "Love lifts us up where we belong!" and it's splendoured, not splendid...

EDIT: Wait, no! I've got it! Love!

[ January 07, 2003: Message edited by: Garen LiLorian ]

Manardariel 01-07-2003 10:10 AM

Love and hope are both correct. I was making it on love, but then I figured hope fits, too.
BTW...
Thank you, Garen LiLorian !

Lady_Báin 01-07-2003 06:22 PM

well my timing on this thread is terrible....

Tigerlily Gamgee 01-07-2003 10:13 PM

I guess that means I am up:

No longer near
A land lays bare
A lonely tear
For some so fair
We long for you
From land afar
Wishing to know
Where you are

Susan Delgado 01-07-2003 11:15 PM

Soldiers at war? or is it LotR related?

Tigerlily Gamgee 01-07-2003 11:18 PM

It is LOTR related.

Garen LiLorian 01-08-2003 06:43 AM

The search of the Ents for the Entwives. Or the Entwives themselves. Or the Brown Lands. Or something along those lines.

Lady_Báin 01-08-2003 07:11 AM

maybe the elves in valinor? or elves in middle earth thinking of the elves in valinor?

Tigerlily Gamgee 01-08-2003 10:24 PM

Garen LiLorian, you are correct

Anyone have a new riddle to share?

WarBringer 01-09-2003 02:28 PM

ok...
Men are ensnared
kingdoms are destroyed
plans are ruined
love is broken
wars are fought
The wielder of the weapon
escapes without harm...

what is the answer?

WarBringer 01-09-2003 03:17 PM

*bumping to top*

FarathrimMaiden 01-09-2003 09:24 PM

lies?
death?
thats tricky

Tigerlily Gamgee 01-10-2003 12:26 AM

Oh tough one!

My guesses are Aragorn, the Palantir, or fate. I have my reasons for guessing these, but I don't think any are correct.

Hint?

Lady_Báin 01-10-2003 06:50 AM

um time?

bombur 01-10-2003 09:52 AM

The other cynicist makes a guess: a lie.

"Men are ensnared - by lies
kingdoms are destroyed - by men ensnared by lies
plans are ruined - by men believing the lie instead of the truth
love is broken - by lie told by/of the loved one
wars are fought - because of lies... (rather well timed reminder I'd say)
The wielder of the weapon
escapes without harm... - all too often."

If I got it right, the please go on and make next one someone. I'm lousy at in'venting them.
