Hmmm...

I wouldn't want to do that. 'tis said in the ancient lore of Meneltarma the Tiny, my pictures are blessed by the Valar, so it is protected from flame, metal, and unsavoury comment.

Of course, I always wished I was the one protected....*sighs*

Well, my dad has hobbit feet. As close as a human can get. Thankfully, he's taller and did not pass the weird feet on to me. Thank goodness! :D And one of my friends did her hair up all fancy for prom, and looked just like a young-ish Arwen with blonde hair. Odd thought, I know. And the only other one I can think of is a missionary that looked like the black Elrond. It was cool. :smokin:

astarielle 04-02-2004 06:59 AM

There is aboy on my a bus i used to catch that looks like a little Lij, but haven't seen many others. though there's this guy at my school who looks so much like Keanu Reeves, everyone calls him Reeves all the time

Lady Snickerdoodle 04-02-2004 03:56 PM

Hey! I saw someone at the DC National Kite Festival thing last weekend with a Fellowship delta kite. It made me freak out and hyperventilate, then get really angry because I didn't know where to get one. I wanted to go up and ask them if they were barrowdowners but I had lost my friend in the crowd so I had to go find her... Oh yeah, and if anyone reading this is the lotr kite flyer in question please make yourself known! I was the girl in bright pink who caused a huge collision by running backwards with my kite (random spiraly pattern on blue delta) :D :o

Ainaserkewen 04-07-2004 01:53 PM

Hah! I just realised this morning: Ian Holm is on my radio every morning at 7:30. Not Kidding! Okay, okay...not the real Ian Holm...but another radio anouncer with the same name. I've been listening to that man for 4 years! And I've never noticed before! Thought that was amusing.

Miriel Undomiel 04-07-2004 02:09 PM

I was watching 'Secret Window', when Johnny Depp suddenly said: Tom GREENLEAF! I jumped and hit my knee on the table... aouch...

Lily Bombadil 04-14-2004 06:14 PM

Okay, I went to the Exalibur Fantasy Faire near my home, and-besides couting 65 individual kilts on guys-I saw the Helm of Elendil, the Helm of Gimli, Legolas' knives, Anduril, Narsil, Sting(and scabbard), Gimli's axe(I'm pretty sure), orc and uruk weaponry, and best of all HADHAFANG! I got to hold it and Gimli's helm. 'Twas a fine day. Now, I'm pretty sure I found some LotR people there. Let's see.... Well, I'm pretty sure I found the REAL Glorfindel. No lie. This guy could've been Glorfindel easily (or even Gildor). Oh, and Ghengis Khan had Anduril. Strange... I thought I'd seen Boromir or Faramir one, but It turned out to be Robin Hood. Shucks! Oh, there was a Nazgul. And some Rangers were also present, though they better favoured Haradrim than the men of Halbarad's company. Oh, yes, and Sir Brian in the Iavnhoe-themed joust looked remarkably like Boromir, so it was like watching him die twice in two different ways. Creepy... And Black Rose Costumes was selling awesome skirts and bodices that looked fit for Diamond Took and Rose Gamgee--Elanor the Fair even! There was even a great multitude of Elvish garb. Oh, and I found this one guy in a cloak that looked like the ugly version of Merry with really BIG hair...

OH! I amost forgot! They had the circlets of Arwen, Elrond, and Galadriel, and the Helms of the Witch King, an Isengard orc, and uruk, and a Rohirrim, and they also had Rohirrim and Theoden's armour! Eru! I almost LOST my mind!

[QUOTE=Lady Snickerdoodle]Wow, I seriously think there could be a LOTR mafia. Stalking all the LOTR freaks... Someone second me on this QUOTE]

Ill second you! ;) :smokin:

Lady Snickerdoodle 04-15-2004 01:27 PM

Lily that is soo cool I want an Arwen circlet..

Yep so today at school I saw:
- a sixth grader wearing the Ring on her necklace
- a sevvie (seventh grader ;) ) wearing an Aragorn tshirt
- a car in the parking lot with a license plate that said "ENVT" which anyone who isn't a fool of a took can see stands for "ENT" but is just spelled wrong.

also, one of my so called "friends" stole my Leggy pin off my binder   , which made me go berserk and start screaming during science class when I found it was missing.
Me: IT"S LOST!! MY PRECIOUS IS LOST!
Teacher: Uhuh, can you answer the question now?

Happy ending though, my many sources and connections found the ssssneaky thiefff so I got it back on the bus. YAYAYAY

Lhundulinwen 04-15-2004 07:09 PM

I had a shirt made at the mall. Guess what I put on it? Legolas lives. hehehe :D

Maeggaladiel 04-16-2004 12:50 PM

I found a shop called "HOBBIT'S HOLLOW." It looks cute! It's got a round green door with a brass knob and everything! Never been inside, but the word "hobbit" caught my eye.

My aunt used to live on Greenleaf Blvd. Every time I passed her house I would start grinning madly. My friends eventually learned not to ask.

*grins madly*
Greenleaf ---> Legolas! Yee!

MAEG

Oh, and before I forget, I have a Legolas action figure that lives on my shelf. I was going to use him to make a stop action cartoon about him tryign to fight a wicked door-to-door salesman (don't ask) but I freaked out when I almost lost his little knife in my backyard. I decided not to take any more chances.

YAYAYAY *hops around room until plastic elf ears fall off* Cool animation idea Maeg. I'm planning to do a movie over summer and I'm trying to work in as many Leggy (and Lotr of course :D ) references as possible. Though my co-director gets annoyed with me a lot.

skadork 04-16-2004 01:44 PM

whem i was visiting my sister at college over my break, i kept seeing a car whose liscence plate was frodo 9, at a different time, but same college, i saw a guy wearing aragorn's ring.

oh & last years vacation out west (around yellowstone), i saw a sign that i swear said "national ent bank" & i saw, what i think was a horse farm with a huge sign that mention bree, only i barely caught that one. i could be wrong.

Bekah 04-17-2004 01:02 AM

I was lucky enough to spot a cafe called The Hobbit , but I didn't get to enter and eat due to not having enough time.

Finwe 04-17-2004 07:18 PM

Was this in Houston, Texas???? Because I know there's a Hobbit Cafe in Houston (about five hours from where I live).

nareal 04-17-2004 10:11 PM

god he's scary

i'd swear my latin teacher is wormtounge
but scarier.

Saraphim 04-17-2004 10:50 PM

Freakishness...

Firstly, I enjoy sneaking up behind my friends and doing a Gollum voice. They jump and yell at me not to do it, because I sound like Andy Serkis and it freaks them out.

There's this guy at my gym who looks like exactly like Aragorn, the movie version.
But once at camp I met this guy who looked like Legolas. This was before the movie came out and I wasn't poisoned by Orlando Bloom, and it was really cool. He had long blond hair and actual pointy ears. He seemed to buy into the whole elf thing too, because we played D&D and he was an elf. (not very original, but o well.)

I said on another thread recenty that I lived near a restaurant called Bilbo's. They have good potatoes.

Miriel Undomiel 04-18-2004 12:39 PM

My bestfriends mother was wearing a sweater that said 'orc' (or 'org', but who cares? ?)

Gothmog 04-18-2004 12:47 PM

Ugly kid huh?! ;)

Gothmog 04-19-2004 08:02 AM

Yes, Alexus, very ugly kid... Not too clean and neat neither, and as I said: he actually behaves like Gollum... :)

No, Finwe. Sorry to disappoint, but it was somewhere in the North Island of New Zealand en route to somewhere else - I can't remember what the city/town was called or even how big it was...probably in the lower half of the Island, though...

Cheers,

When I was walking around Wellington a few years ago I saw a man who looked suspiciously like Figwit. Then I realised it probably was him.

Hmm also, I've seen all the main cast and crew of the LOTR films excluding Miranda Otto and Christopher Lee but don't know anyone who resembles them except Ms Otto who seems to have a clone working at my old University.

skadork 04-23-2004 02:01 PM

a couple days ago, i was in our chorus room at school, when i saw a book, i can't even remember what it was, it was a kid's book, maybe somet weird version of hey diddle diddle, but anyway, i read the authors name, & stopped out of excitement after i saw "goll-" thinking, "that's awesome! gollum wrote a kid's book!" then i looked again & saw it was gollub. darn that 'b'. although, that man's name does sound like someone with a stuffy nose trying to say gollum.

Eowyn Skywalker 04-23-2004 03:06 PM

My best friend is Gollum's twin sister... she acts like him, jumps around like him... and talks JUST like him... it's scary... expecially when she does Gollum\Smeagol scenes, because she can do the swiches soooo easily... I'm scared.

And my mom can talk like Galadriel.

Anorial 04-24-2004 12:35 PM

A friend of mine is a teacher and says one of her fellow teachers looks like Strider/Aragorn. Says he's a jerk though so that sort of negates the thrill. She's madly in love...excuse me, obsessed...with Viggo so he must be a tremendous jerk! :)

Mad Baggins 04-24-2004 04:13 PM

My mother visited British Columbia and brought me back a little "Hobbit Hut". It was a little sculpture. But it wasn't a little round hobbit hole...it was an isosceles pyramid. Kind of like a little wedge of cheese, except wooden.

Everdawn 04-24-2004 08:24 PM

Saw a trailer for Van Helsing. And boy does Hugh have the look of Aragorn!

Mad Baggins 04-30-2004 07:00 PM

I went to the Agassiz Festival of the Arts today with my school bands and the judicator reminded me suspiciously of Billy Boyd. Of course, that was before he began spouting gibberish.

Everdawn 05-01-2004 05:38 AM

I saw Ian Holm in Hamlet, and i at once thought.. thats a very strange outfit Bilbo is wearing.

Gruckel 05-05-2004 02:21 PM

I saw a total look-alike of one of the horses of the horadrim.:D

though I haven't seen anyone else... I guess I've just got bad luck... cute horse though :)

Miriel Undomiel 05-07-2004 04:38 PM

<-----pretty tree

As I was just posting on the ''You Know You're Obsessed''-thread :
I saw something (Boy/girl - who knows) that lokked very much like a cavetroll. Very scary indeed!

Ainaserkewen 05-12-2004 03:19 PM

Hey hey! I just found out we have a Brandywine Cafe in my town. Must get picture for the downs collection! :D

Miriel Undomiel 05-12-2004 03:51 PM

I was watching Judging Amy the other day when someone mentioned someone by the name 'mr. Barrows'...
And five seconds ago, I was searching for 'the strokes' on grokster, and one of the songs that came up was Premature nine by a band called the Downs !!! And in my dictionary it says under 'premature ': cases of burnouts and premature deaths

I wonder if the Downs (the band) know about the downs (the site and in the book) :smokin:

Miriel Undomiel 05-12-2004 04:13 PM

to all Norwegian Downers

Blimey, I almost forgot!!!
To all 'Downers from Norway: Watch the Idol final on Friday! The tall back-up singer looks just like Cate Blanchett, and this Friday might be your last chance to see her! And one of the judges, Anneli Drecker, looks like Gollum  ...

Lady Snickerdoodle 05-13-2004 01:18 PM

Someone graffitied "HOBBITS" inside a science text book, but the teacher didnt care because he is very cool and loves LOTR. Also, he says that when he was in high school, he used to take all his notes in Tengwar and will allow me to do it too if i can write fast enough. :D but i dont think i will because even though i can write it, i can't really read what i wrote so i would probably fail the next exam...

Mad Baggins 05-13-2004 03:44 PM

In Winnipeg (I believe) there is a Gaffer's Lounge.

*imagines Hobbits sitting around in smoking jackets and giggles*

Olorin_TLA 05-13-2004 03:49 PM

Lol, in one housign estate in England, ALL the streets are named after Tolkien things!!! :D

Olorin_TLA 05-13-2004 04:41 PM

I forget where this one is, but it had names like "Gandalf Road" "Thorin Road", some Silmarillion ones I'm sure too...character places I think. BNut the more toiwns like this, the better!

Who knows , maybe insteading of Middle-earth being based on the world, the world will become M-E? :D :D :D

Lady Snickerdoodle 05-13-2004 07:47 PM

i wanna move to one of those streets... everyone around here is all fusty and conservative and probably don't know that the LOTR movies are based on a specific written story.
hey... 8 more posts until 200! spamming isn't allowed, is it.. :(
