What about "he's" fans? Does that mean that whoever-he-is is plural fanactics?

Maybe it could mean something like 'having to do with two books'?

Veeery interesting. This should teach me not to eat while browsing the Barrow Downs—food tends to end up on the screen when you burst into spontaneous laughter. (Names have been changed to protect the innocent).

I have not found this on the downs but my friend often spells wierd, wired. How wierd!

I saw this shocking statement the other day-
Quote:

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if Maedhros and Maglor got married.
The person didn't mean married to each other of course, but I still got a kick out of it.

Asking a question from the first page, Why do people call a full stop a period? I never call it a period, and now im thinking people are dashing off to the loo!!!

Finwe 06-30-2003 10:08 AM

Oh my God! I can't believe that I made that silly Maedhros/Maglor mistake!

Yavanna228 06-30-2003 11:14 AM

Lucinda,
Americans call a full stop a period. Just regional differences. Part of what makes our language so colourful. And confusing.

This is such a fun topic. I can be picky here. It bugs me so bad when people spell things wrong. ok, I spell badly when I'm typing, but at least I fix it.

I've got one that has been on this thread for a while and nobody has noticed...it's GaladrieloftheOlden's sig:

Friek?

Taken from a thread title (before it was fixed):
Quote:

How do you make your selve look hoobitish or elvish?
"Along with the honnit, the hoobit is an extremely rare species..."

[EDIT] Aha! I caught one of my own typos! I feel oh so intelligent.

I have seen THIS one in TONS of fics:
"Elvin"

I THINK the author meant Elven. Duh!

I also saw on a parody on Amiright.com:

"This whorl orc sh*t"

I didn't know Orcs had fingerprints!

Also,
Some weird person on some weird site put THIS:

námaríe.

The person obviously meant to put Namarié, but has put the accents in ALL the wrong places!! Gah!

Namarié! (For real!)

And ANOTHER rare species! Almost as rare as that honnit and that hoobit! Three similar rare species! The hobbbit, the hoobit, and the honnit. All rather similar to their not so rare cousins, the hobbits.
Honnits tend to have very thin, black legs, while sporting a nice pair of bee-wings on their backs.
Hoobits tend to wear shoes. Mostly boots.
Hobbbits tend to hold their consonants for a longer time than the others, and are almost indistinguishable from hobbits.
If you should perchance be talking to a hobbbit, run away quickly, for any sign of laughter on your part will be challenged as a mickey taking of the speech of this unusual creature!
