To keep the thread going......
Give the name of the range of mounatins beneath were the Elves awoke. |
The Orocarni. Just read that part in the Sil today for the... umpteenth time!
|
How fortunate! Your go.
|
Who was with Orlegwhen he was killed?
|
Túrin. Running away from crazy people shouting Golug!
|
Yes, Orcs are crazy people. And they smell funny too... Go ahead!
|
Give me some information on the most important region of Númenor.
|
Arandor, the Land of the King, was part of the Mittalmar, the innermost region of Númenor. Within Arandor was Armenelos, the capital city of Westernesse. It also bordered the eastern side of Meneltarma, and had a port, Rómenna, on the Bay of Rómenna.

Great Research. As i've come to expect from you!
|
Research, Ha!
Now this will take some research. Good ole JRR seemed to hold Bilbo at a pretty darn high standard for running. Especially for a fifty year old, fat, three foot guy. According to information available in the Hobbit and in the Atlas of Middle Earth by Karen Wynn Fonstad, you should be able to figure out Bilbo's average running speed. Now, I know math isn't my hottest subject, but I'm pretty sure I've got my calculations right. Lets see how you all do. |
Since I'm leaving soon, and I'd like to see this one answered, I'll give you a hint. When Bilbo began this run, in which he ran at ____ mph, it was from Bag End to Bywater, which I have estimated to be 5 miles. By the way, his speed is impossibly fast, so don't be surprised at the answer you get.
|
30 mph. Wow, that's one fast little Hobbit.
|
If the distance truly was 5 miles then Bilbo's running speed would be 30mph! (I recall that it took him 10 minutes to get from target A. Bag-End to target B. The Green Dragon)
EDIT: Darn you Saucepan, you beat me!! [ March 04, 2003: Message edited by: Annunfuiniel ] |
You got it Saucepan Man! To think that I could be out run by a fifty year old, fat smoker, who is three feet high...
|
How many of the participants in the Battle of Five Armies actively feature (as opposed to just being mentioned) in LotR, and who are they?
|
Four
Gandalf, Gwaihir, Bilbo, and Gloin |
Yes, Bilbo... Gandalf... Gloin... Gwaihir and a lot of other Eagles like Landroval and Meneldor the Swift
|
I think Estanesse takes the prize, since I was thinking of characters who were specifically identified in The Hobbit, and of the Eagles only Gwaihir was identified (by his title, anyway).
Arguably, Thranduil could be included, since he plays an active part in the War of the Ring, but since he plays no active part in the story that was told in LotR, I am happy to exclude him from the answer. So, Estanesse, it's your turn ... |
Maglor settled between between which two rivers?
|
Between Little Gelion and Greater Gelion.
|
Yes you’re correct
That is fast It was an easy one but still very fast |
Yes, I strike like a lightning!
Ok, that was...stupid. Well don't mind me just answer this next question: Which flower knew both stone soil and the blood of men? |
Is it the flower of Teleperion
|
Do you mean Simbelmynë?
|
Both wrong. You have to dig a bit deeper, I think it's mentioned only once...
|
Alright, next possibility.
Seregon, the red flower on Amon Rudh |
And that's the right "possibility"! Congrats, lathspell! Proceed.
|
It seems we meet everywhere, Annunfuiniel
Thank you, here's the new one: Who said: 'Only with one hand thy givest' Dreadfully easy, I suppose, but couldn't do anything better |
Yes, we meet again...and again and again! But that's cool with me!
And the answer to your question would be Ungoliant. |
And again your answer is correct!
You may proceed. lathspell |
*bows*
Hmmmm... Name at least six "things" which formed a group of seven. |
The seven stars of the standard from Gondor
Palantiri Dwarf fathers Dwarf rings Sons of Feanor the Sickle of the Valar |
Jolly good job again, Estanesse!
I just want to add the seven wall's of Minas Tirith. So, your turn it is, Estanesse. |
I’m having a jolly good time
Were did Turin first met Nienor. |
Ah, a Turin question. I cannot resist.
The mound of Haudh-en-Elleth in the Forest of Brethil. |
Again is your answer the correct one Saucepan Man
|
Well, thank-you. Turin is a current favourite subject of mine.
