is Palantiri meant as a hint?

In that case:
Palantiri, because all others or just one item and Palantiri is (usually meant as) 7

Lyra Greenleaf 03-16-2003 05:30 PM

was anguirel the only one a mortal never saw or used?
or was the mirror of galadriel the only one not given as a gift to men, or used by men? (OK, so I'm confused!)

Estanesse 03-17-2003 03:16 AM

There is no good answer yet

Malva Headstrong 03-17-2003 10:02 AM

I guess the Ring of Barahir. It was the only jewelry
OR
it was the only item that hadnīt any magic powers.

Is Anguirel the only one not in Lord of the Rings (the book)?
OR Is the Ring of Barahir the only one without a mysterious end?
OR Is the mirror of Galadriel the only one that was never lost?
OR is the Mirror of Galadriel the only one never given as a gift?
OR Is the Mirror of Galadriel the only one not mentioned in the Silmarillion?

elven maiden Earwen 03-22-2003 11:45 PM

hint maybe??

Estanesse 03-23-2003 10:18 AM

here is a hint
Palantiri
Ring of Barahir
Anguirel
Mirror of Galadriel

Tar-Palantir 03-23-2003 10:37 AM

I suppose they were all gifts but the Mirror.

elven maiden Earwen 03-23-2003 11:16 AM

Anguirel because Galadriel has seen all of the others

Estanesse 03-24-2003 05:13 AM

No and No

Hint

Palantiri
Ring of Barahir
Anguirel
Mirror of Galadriel
Narya
And a Silmaril

gralin musicteeth 03-24-2003 05:51 PM

this is a long shot, but is it Anguirel?

All the rest have something to do with fire
*Palantiri-Pippin sees the eye of Sauron wreathed in flame
*Ring of Barahir-Barahir rescued Finrod in the Dagor Bragollach (The Battle of Sudden Flame)
*Mirror of Galadriel-Frodo sees the eye in it
*Narya- Ring of Fire
*Silmaril- made by Fëanor, Spirit of Fire

don't beat me too hard, i had to think for that!

Lyra Greenleaf 03-26-2003 02:07 PM

Ooh, that makes sense! Come on I want to know the answer its driving me nuts!

Estanesse 03-28-2003 02:23 AM

Right Item but (sorry) wrong reason

Dondagnirion 03-28-2003 11:30 AM

It is Anguirel because it is the only "Weapon" there.

do you mean aeglos, gil-galad's spear? if so, the silmaril is the only one not a weapon?

Sea Wing
Castle of the Sea
Haven Finder
Sea Home
Wooden Whale
Far Wanderer

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 04-11-2003 01:22 PM

Sea Home isn't the name of a ship

Sea Wing was was the ship in which Idril and Tuor went west
Castle of the Sea was the ship of Ar-Pharazon
Haven of the Sea was Tar-Aldarion's flagship
Wooden Whale was a nickname for Hirilonde (Haven of the Sea)
Far-Wanderer is Palarran, the greatest ship of Aldarion.

Sophia

elven maiden Earwen 04-11-2003 10:52 PM

lyra;s on Holiday so she asked me to tell you guys if you are correct or not. Nope thats not the answer.

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 04-12-2003 01:53 PM

Ok, second try. Sea Home is indeed the name of a ship, one of Aldarion's ships, to be precise.

Which leads me to guess, Sea Wing, the ship of Tuor & Idril is the only one that wasn't Numenorean in origin, or built/commissioned by a king of Numenor.

Sophia

elven maiden Earwen 04-12-2003 09:59 PM

you are correct so its your go

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 04-13-2003 12:52 PM

A short list, and probably an easy guess

Angrist
Narsil
Anglachel
Helm of Hador

Sophia

elven maiden Earwen 04-13-2003 02:32 PM

Helm of Hador wasnt a sword.

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 04-13-2003 03:00 PM

Nope, and neither was angrist, actually...
