The other night I was being entertained by "Clue FX." Too bad only four people can play, and they are seperate from the suspects. I've always imagined Colonel Mustard as SpM. And someone I find mysterious as Lush would end up being Miss Scarlet. Yep, Downer's Clue would be an excellent game. (The BD manor....) ;)

Due to the explosion of Barrow Products, it would be unthinkable not to make a film of the Downs:
Staring Sean Bean as The Barrow Wight in

The Legend of the Balrogian Wings!

Lalwendë 02-01-2006 09:59 AM

Splendid!

I especially like the way the Balrog has NO wings. :p The film Balrog is my favourite ever Balrog but it was spoiled by them darn flappy things coming out of it's back, grrrrr.......

You realise, this will result in a new range of action figures having to be released?

Its supposed to look like the Balrog is exploding... Oh well.

The new products will be things like:

- (Sean Bean as) The Barrow Wight [With 9 1/2 phrases]
- (Mo Vistar as) The Saucepan Man [With egg cooking action]
- (Joke Name as) Davem [with cannon action]
- Barrow Downs play set (warning, may cause player to die)
- And of course, Balrog (with exploding action)

:D

[Edit] Because I'm bored and not very imaginative, I thought I'd take a bash at the Top trumps. Sorry if I've ruined it for you, Lal. :(

Why not 'solve' the issue with Barlog Action figures with removable wings? Of course, it could result in brawls among some of our 'younger' BDers.

Another idea:
Action figures based on Middle Earth Football Tournament
Including: Sleepy Ranger, SpM, Bill the Barlog, and more!!

They're cool! You're much better at frames than me - I haven't got the patience, especially trying to do them on Photoshop! :(

We could have Barrow-Downs Subbuteo! The teams for Northern Ireland or Burscough FC could be borrowed as they both play in green - I can't think of any other teams that do!

I think there will soon be need for Barrow-Downs self-help documentaries, to help us deal with the psychological problems which arise from our addiction to black screens with green writing. Following on from the recent Channel 4 success, a new documentary will soon be on our screens, trying to address relationship problems which arise due to Downs addiction - It's Me Or The Downs. Another new show will deal with trying to get people to read proper books like Lord of the Rings - You Are What You Read. Finally, with the decline in the housing market, Phil and Kirstie will seek a new direction and their new show will focus on how to get ahead on the Downs - Reputation, Reputation, Reputation.

Oh, my, Royal Doulton subbuteo figures for the sports figures.

But in keeping with Tolkien's desire for a mythology for England, would we prefer Wedgewood Fine Bone China figures or should we seek out the Spanish company Lladro, who has already cast a Lord of the Rings porcelain figure collection?

Lladro's style has often suggested to me elven proportions whereas Wedgewood seems to me to describe the hobbit rotundity. Where would we Barrow Downers stand in this contrast? Or perhaps "sit" is the more appropriate action, as most of us surely sit at our monitors. :D

Formendacil 02-06-2006 01:09 PM

Sweet!

I'm on a keychain!

Where can I get one of those? Like Kath, I think we need to find a manufacturer- and not just for these, but for all the great (read: zany) ideas people are coming up with...

Hookbill the Goomba 02-09-2006 06:57 AM

Coming soon, to a shop near you:

Buy a segment of Barrow Downs grass. Only Ł300, buy now while grass lasts!

Also

Play Crazy captions at home, with fridge magnets, including scenes from the films as well as key phrases such as "Gandalf the grey uncloaked", "Mount Zoom" and many others to amuse all your friends.

Morai 02-09-2006 06:23 PM

Random Titles putting in some thought....

Hmm...I was thinking more along the lines of Barrow Downs Daisies. Then again, with all the people here pushing them up, the grass may be worth more due to supply and demand. ;)

I kind of figured it was a joke, but it still pussled me a bit. . .

Shouldn't it be "eat and die" :p

Hookbill the Goomba 03-01-2006 02:29 PM

Hilarious. Though I would add: Those still alive, who have respiratory problems (or lack there of for that matter) shouldn't use Barrow B-O as that it's odor is rather toxicating. Please talk with your mortician before use.

One must not forget the extra lethal dosage of caffine. Sometimes I wonder if people here actually sleep. ;)

Well, Gandalf is a pretty cool guy; I'd like to be like him. :p

A little known fact: That book is the same one you see in my signature, so now you know where I got it.
I’ll have to design a Barrow Downs Gandalf cloak… Hmm… Actually, that may not be a good idea…

Nilpaurion Felagund 03-03-2006 12:46 AM

Re: Metaphysics.

Cloaks? Gandalf has cloaks? Why bother with cloaks?

Well, when you've had a heated discussion on the Downs, sometimes you just need to sit down and have a nice cup of Tea. But wait! You dont' have an apropriate mug! Well, fear no more!

Kath 03-03-2006 02:15 PM

Hookbill I want that mug!

Estelyn Telcontar 03-03-2006 02:36 PM

Actually, there used to be Barrow-Downs mugs for sale. Perhaps someone who has one can put up a picture...

Hookbill, you may have one or even two if you arrive with an offer to negotiate an exchange for one or two of yours. ;)

Hookbill the Goomba 03-07-2006 10:39 AM

Yar, ye drive a hard barging, Bęthberry.

Anyway. By the request of Eomer, I have made this little beauty:

Well, I was sat here thinking to myself:
"With all these Barrow Downs products, one would need an awful lot of cash. How will everyone buy it?" Well, fear not, oh people of the Downs. For the time has come to unveil: Barrow Card!

200% interest back on all purchases, 90% interest to pay ever month or decomposition sets in. :D
