Are you absolutely sure it's not too big? Go by pixel size not kb or whatever it is.
|
It only is 49x49 pixels. Maybe there's something wrong with my computer.
|
like i said, it won't except some files...
|
My bet is that when I got the image I wanted as an avatar alone up on Google, its URL was www.url.com.gif, but the website it originally comes from, www.url.com, has more than one image. There's my problem, I think. The page it originally came from had more than one image. I'll try saving it to my computer again and getting it online that way.

New Goblin
Hi, I'm Kahnshefal, a Goblin. Just tried the name generator here and got some interesting results, but I actually got my name from a goblin name generator at http://www.jaqdhawkins.com/name.php
Looking forward to chatting to others with fantasy interests. Kahnshefal |
Greetings, Kahnshefal.
And I finally got an avatar to work. :D |
Welcome, Kahnshefal! The site says that my Goblin name would be Filana. That's a kind of pretty name, actually.
|
Welcome Kahnshefal! Thanks for the link, my name came out as Lakena.
And well done Alcarillo for finally getting your avvie to work, and what a pretty one it is too. |
Oh, and if you guys ever really do have problems with that, you can always try Avatarity. They have all different kinds of graphics. Before I got in the habit of finding my own images online and changing the size to use them, I used Avatarity to find some. They have all sizes and categories.
|
I suppose that's my next task, to do an avatar. Do they have to be remotely linked or can they be directly uploaded?
Nice goblin names BTW. I've got the book that inspired it, great if you like fantasy. New take on goblins. :) Kahnshefal |
Kahnshefal I know I've already said hi but I just noticed, your name sounds like can't shuffle - heehee! :D
|
Diacritics!
I've got a question: How does one go about typing vowels with diacritical marks, e.g. the e with the two dots above it, vowels with accent marks?
|
The Barrow-Downs FAQ thread gives you the codes you need for those special signs and also answers some other questions you might have as well. If you have questions that aren't answered there, you're welcome to send me or one of the other moderators a PM. Hope you enjoy yourself here!

A hello to the new members whose deaths I missed...
namely, Brim (pretty avatar!), Folwren (you've definitely read more than a few of Tolkien's books!), Cailín, Sauron The Great, out_of_focus, empress_han, Alcarillo, and Kahnshefal!
And welcome back, Vanima! Whew! *is out of breath* :) |
Goblin eh? Those are nice.
My Name is kinda derived from a type of goblin. Cobalt = Kobold = also a color, a glass, a poison, a metal and a newer model chevy that reminds me of a Jetta, lol. But enough about me! Time to let a voice OUTSIDE my head speak. |
Enca, I'm not even going to try to name them all...
I'll just give a big WELCOME TO THE 'DOWNS! May all your deaths be excellent in their splendour.
|
Greetings, ]Cobalt[! Interesting brackets about your name. And I see that you're location is the woods of NW Washington. It's nice to meet another BDer from the same state as oneself, assuming that you meant the state and not the city.
|
A big welcome to all of the newbies I have not welcomed yet! I hope your deaths were enjoyable! :D
Nim :p:D |
Hello
Hello I'm new.
The classic opening line for a newcomer I guess... I've read and loved the LOTR, on my first reading I devoured all the book including the hobbit in probably under a week. I havn't yet got around to reading Tolkiens other works and so I feel slighty overwhelmed by the amount of informtion all you people have! But I like learning and I'm looking forward to learning and discusing the Tolkien charecters. I just hope you can put up with me making silly mistakes and saying stupid things for a while.. But hey! How you all doing? |
Welcome, Lougwen. :)
|
Welcome to the Downs Lougwen - have fun!
|

|
I'm New.
Hey! I'm new here. I love Lord of the Rings! I made a mistake in my profile and I don't know how to go back and change it. Could I get some friendly help? I have already posted some... posts, on the "Tolkien, founder of new religion?". So I not compleatly new.
|
Welcome Kahnshefal, Lougwen, and Turgon Philip Noldor! Enjoy your deaths!
My goblin name is Oenibani. TPN just go to your user CP then click on edit profile. ~*Wilwa*~ |

|
Thank you all for making me feel welcome. :)
|
well I never actually offically introduced myself..I am back from a long vacation from the Downs, well I hope to have fun here again, you people are just crazily knowledgeable about Tolkien........I need to catch up..I plan to write a paper about Tolkien's mythology...
My name is after a kingdom of my original stories (trilogy), sort of Tolkienesque, actually technically these stories haven't been laid down on paper yet, tried three versions already and didn't like them at all, but I just love the world I created and its history. So...anyone up for a drink in the Green Dragons? |
Welcome to Turgon Philip Noldor and Fallenstar. :)
