Tídwald speaking to Totta: Hey! Rattle and bump over rut and boulder! The roads are rough and rest is short for English Men in Aethelred's day. |
Excellent once again, Guinevere! And correct, of course. Pray proceed.
|
Thank you, Esty. :)
"--------/, ---/ -----/ ----/ --/; ---/ -/ -----/ -----/, ----/ ---/ ----/ --/ -----/ --/ --/- ." |
T please - as in "T"raditional opening letter...
|
"--------/, ---/ ----t/ ----/ -t/; --t/ -/ -----/ -----/, ----/ ---/ ----/ t-/ t----/ --/ -t/ ."
|
The predictable S next, please.
|
T , S (but we has only one! :( )
"--------/, ---/ ----t/ ----/ -t/; --t/ -/ s----/ -----/, ----/ ---/ ----/ t-/ t----/ --/ -t/ ." |
Hmmm, let's try R then.
|
TSR
"---r----/, ---/ ----t/ ----/ -t/; --t/ -/ s----/ -r---/, ----/ ---/ ----/ t-/ t----/ --/ -t/ ." |
N, perhaps? (This looks to be a tough one!)
|
TSRN
"---r--n-/, ---/ ----t/ ----/ -t/; --t/ -/ s----/ -r---/, ---n/ ---/ ----/ t-/ t--n-/ --/ -t/ ." |
To B - or not?
|
TSRN B
"---r--n-/, ---/ ----t/ ----/ -t/; b-t/ -/ s----/ -r---/, ---n/ ---/ ----/ t-/ t--n-/ --/ -t/ ." |
How about D?
|
TSRNB D
"---r--n-/, ---/ ----t/ ----/ -t/; b-t/ -/ s----/ dr---/, ---n/ ---/ ----/ t-/ t--n-/ --/ -t/ ." __________________ |
L please (I'm still puzzled!)
|
"h's?
|
TSRNBD H and L ( good choice!)
"-l-r--n-/, ---/ ---ht/ --ll/ -t/; b-t/ -/ s-ll-/ dr---/, -h-n/ ---/ ----/ t-/ th-n-/ --/ -t/ ." |
Definitely time for a vowel - how about A, please?
|
TSRNBDHL A
"Alar--n-/, ---/ ---ht/ -all/ -t/; b-t/ a/ s-ll-/ dr-a-/, -h-n/ ---/ ----/ t-/ th-n-/ --/ -t/ ." |
"m"s?
|
Finally! When I had the first word, the rest was not hard to find.

Yes, that's it! :)

You'd forgotten Barrow-wight dwelling in the old mound
up there on hill-top with the ring of stones round. The Barrow-wight to Tom Bombadil . (You have used that quote before, Esty , in July, to be precise. :D ) |
You're right on both counts! Must be some mysterious influence trying to repeat a message - or it's just my forgetfulness... Go ahead with a new one!
|
:) I think I remember the quotes I found out better than the ones I posted...
How long can we go on before we run out of suitable quotes, I wonder? "-----/ ---/ -----/, ----/!" (....) "--'--/ ----/ ---/ ---/ ----/ --/ ---/ -------/." |
We may have to change the rules and use normal sentences instead of direct speech quotes; there are works that have no direct speech at all - several of the Tom Bombadil poems, for example.
And now for something completely different... W, please! |
"-----/ ---/ w----/, ----/!" (....) "W-'--/ ----/ ---/ ---/ w---/ --/ ---/ -------/."
|
R 2 (without D2) please.
