Valier 07-11-2006 11:40 AM

Ok Gil......help us out:D

Gil-Galad 07-12-2006 07:07 AM

*sigh* i can't say no to that Epileptic/seizure-induced Kitty of yours...

well again think seven, if i say its a person then that will give a big hint...

Macalaure 07-12-2006 07:35 AM

Seven Gates of Gondolin?
Seven Rivers of Ossiriand?

Denethor, maybe?

Gil-Galad 07-13-2006 06:55 AM

but why? and no those all wrong... and i don't see how the seven gates and seven rivers are a person...

Rune Son of Bjarne 07-13-2006 08:52 AM

I know you said they were wrong, but if it was the seven gates of Gondolin then Elemmakil would be a guess.

Gil-Galad 07-13-2006 01:25 PM

its funny cause your all missing the obvious seven

Rune Son of Bjarne 07-13-2006 01:33 PM

then there is the seven Palantíri. . . but I got no idea what the answer would be

Gil-Galad 07-13-2006 01:45 PM

Its a person... so there would be no use of guessing non-living things.

Valier 07-13-2006 01:49 PM

How bout Oin?

Gil-Galad 07-13-2006 01:54 PM

how about sorry nope...

Valier 07-13-2006 01:56 PM

How 'bout Ostoher the 7th King of Gondor?

Rune Son of Bjarne 07-13-2006 02:01 PM

I know that there was only 6 High Kings of the Noldor, but if you count Maedhros there would be 7! The other would then be Fëanor

Gil-Galad 07-13-2006 02:08 PM

nope, super clsoe though Rune, go back to the fist clue though, 'other'

Macalaure 07-13-2006 02:15 PM

Another wild guess: Nerdanel?

Gil-Galad 07-13-2006 02:19 PM

not wild at all, bang on! your turn.

Rune Son of Bjarne 07-13-2006 02:19 PM

Finarfin ?

Gil-Galad 07-13-2006 02:22 PM

Sorry my dear Rune, macalaure already answered correctly

Macalaure 07-13-2006 02:36 PM

Thank you! :)

Who were the only two Sindar who, most probably, once used Quenya - after Thingol's ban?

I want names and occasion.

Rune Son of Bjarne 07-13-2006 02:50 PM

do they have to be of pure Sindar origin?

Macalaure 07-13-2006 02:51 PM

Yes, they do.

Gil-Galad 07-14-2006 07:09 AM

question confuses me but i'll go for the obvious, Celeborn and Galadriel?

Macalaure 07-14-2006 07:16 AM

No, unfortunately. And since when is Galadriel one of the Sindar? ;)

I'll try to clarify: After he found out about the kinslaying Thingol banned Quenya from his realm and forbade its usage to all Sindar. Yet, even after it, there are two Sindar who, in all probability, dared to speak Quenya at one specific point of time.

Anguirel 07-14-2006 09:01 AM

Eol and Maeglin before Turgon?

EDIT: In the unlikely event that I'm right, let someone else ask a question...I'll have disappeared...

Macalaure 07-14-2006 01:24 PM

Don't worry, Ang, you are not right. ;)

Maeglin is half a Noldo, and I cannot imagine Eöl ever uttered one word of the kinslayers' tongue.

Mmm, seems like it's more difficult than I thought. If nobody has the right answer tomorrow, I'll give a hint.

Rune Son of Bjarne 07-14-2006 03:41 PM

even better, give it now! The only thing I could come up with yesterday was Eol and Maeglin and they turned out wrong. (What I already guessed they would be, especialy since Maeglin is half Noldor)

Macalaure 07-15-2006 02:22 AM

Hint: We know exactly what they said. They both say the same three words.

Macalaure 07-18-2006 01:50 AM

Still nobody?

And I thought that hint was too obvious, already. :(

What I meant by underlining 'exactly' is that we not only know it was said in Quenya, but we actually know the exact Quenya wording.

Rune Son of Bjarne 07-18-2006 06:45 AM

Beleg and Mablung could have said "Auta i lómë" at the Nirnarth Arnoediad. . . (it is quenya right?)

Macalaure 07-18-2006 08:15 AM

It is Quenya. The Silm says, that all that heard Fingon's welcome to Turgon answered by it. So, unless Beleg and Mablung have been sitting on their ears, they said it.

Your thread, Rune.

Rune Son of Bjarne 07-20-2006 12:52 PM

Would somebody else care to take over for me as I am going away for a week, from Saturday morning ?

Gil-Galad 07-20-2006 01:37 PM

i will be honoured my friend

Gil-Galad 07-20-2006 01:42 PM

Name the place that is similar to "door of water"

Macalaure 07-26-2006 08:04 AM

I guess it's wrong, but since nobody else wants to try:

Gates of Sirion?

Valier 07-26-2006 11:53 AM

or..... Annon-in-Gelydh? or Sirannon?

Gil-Galad 07-26-2006 01:19 PM

Valier as it! your turn

Valier 07-26-2006 04:12 PM

Really!!!!????? I got one? Awesome!!!! :D It will take me a little bit to come up with one, but I shall return!

Oh and Gil.....which one was it?

Valier 07-26-2006 04:31 PM

I'm hoping this is First Age.....

Who shouted "Utúlie'n aurë! Aiya Eldalië! ar Atanatári, utúlie'n aurë!" and what and who shouted back?

I know it's a long one, but I haven't been able to go for awhile:D

Gil-Galad 07-26-2006 08:01 PM

Beren perhaps?

oh and it was Sirannon

Dimturiel 07-27-2006 01:37 AM

Fingon shouted that and all those that heard him answered back shouting: Auta i lome!" (" The night is passing!")

Valier 07-27-2006 10:58 AM

YAAA!!! Your go Dimturiel:)
