How intriguing this would be! Imagine- a game with out preconceived ideas about the people you're playing with! Oh, Nogrod, how I wish you would actually play in that one. I wonder if we would still be at each other's throats if we didn't know who the other was? Also, people couldn't get away with "that's just my standard operating procedure" anymore.

It's something I wonder- will we ever play so many WW games that we have everyone's modis operandi down so completely that we automatically know who's a wolf? If it's allowed, we should do this everygame.

Well, yes. I would like to see that game one day... :) It would be nice to see after the deaths that we were the ones trusting each other!

But the later point of yours is the thing I was more worried about... If it is - as you say, and as I think myself - it would be more work to the Mod-Mod. Although, I quess people (me too!) would still like to play traditionally: that is so comforting, knowing the roles beforehand. But sparingly distributed, this "blind-game" might be a good idea...

Caranlondien 04-30-2006 06:20 PM

Excellent idea! I can't wait to see how this goes...

Firefoot 04-30-2006 06:22 PM

I think it's a brilliant idea. How many times do you go into a game subconsciously trusting someone just because of a name?

Talk about confusing though... I'd hate to be in a village with more than, say, 20 people whose names you've never heard.

Eonwe 04-30-2006 06:50 PM

Great idea Nogrod. If I can't get into LMP's game, sign me up!

littlemanpoet 04-30-2006 08:17 PM

I like it, Nogrod. I'll either be raring to go at playing after I've finished modding, or I'll be so dragged out tired I won't want to play for .... um.... days. :p

Gurthang 04-30-2006 08:54 PM

Hmmm... this is a great idea. I'd probably play, too, if I knew times and dates and those sort of mundane details... but I know it's all still in the thinking phase.

I can't help but wonder if we still won't be able to spot most people after a couple days. I know that it's very easy to slip back into your usual playing mode even if you're trying not to. Although, I think I personally am just insane enough to pull something like that off... after all, I have gotten lynched simply because of one of my crazy 'plans'. (Which almost worked *grumble*) :D

Formendacil 04-30-2006 10:47 PM

Is there a waiting list for being in this game?

I'm totally in favour of it, although I'm no Barrow-Wight... In theory, he could delete the accounts from being active after the game.... right?

Diamond18 04-30-2006 10:52 PM

Well since my WWJ game isn't even over yet, I don't think that sign up for this one is officially begun.

That was said tongue-in-cheek, Di... With both your game running and LMP's game about to take off, I don't think this game will occur QUITE yet, especially with the high interest it seems to be garnering.

I just wanted to let Nogrod know I really like the idea.

My apologies about the mess up... Don't y'all start signing up on a non-existent list, now!

Nogrod 05-01-2006 03:13 AM

Thanks for your support, people.

Sadly Barrow-Wight thought differently. I can see the point (a load of false identities around), but well, a bit diasppointed, to be sure.

Well just have to come up with other ideas to make the game vary. And we seem to have them coming all the time (lmp's game f.ex.).

Diamond18 05-01-2006 09:31 AM

Well, Noggie, if it cheers you any, I intend to NOT be someone who uses a consistent playing style. Others would have to tell me how similar my playing was in my first three games. But I'm crazy insane and even if it gets me lynched I have plans for different gaming styles depending on my mood. :D

Nogrod 05-01-2006 04:26 PM

It's always great to get the support of one's wife, at least... Maybe you will not spank me so hard on one day for this? :D

And really, that was just an idea - and I still think of it as a good one, but nevertheless... We have other options still. Maybe we should kind of declare a "day of the false-King"-game one day, or something like that?

Elu Ancalime 05-01-2006 08:10 PM

If it's any token at all, my internet was disabled for the past week and a half, and it should be sputtering along hopefully, but I suppose it was too late for that...

JennyHallu 05-05-2006 11:20 AM

Roa...I'm afraid even anonymity wouldn't make Noggie very difficult to identify, unless he had a proof-reader. No offense, Noggie...but your accent would give you away.

Roa_Aoife 05-05-2006 11:33 AM

It's less the accent, and more the attitude, I think. Not that there's anything wrong with being headstong... :D

Kath 05-05-2006 11:38 AM

Really? I'd put it down to the overabundance of commas!

It was a good idea though, it's a shame it couldn't be implemented. No one would have been able to claim that Day 1 was useless, as we'd all be spending it trying to work out who everyone else was :D

Thinlómien 05-07-2006 04:28 AM

It's probably me and Nogrod next on the modding list.

(We have negotiated with Samwise and he'd like to mod after us and that's perfectly fine with us. Anyway, I have Pmed him to see if he has a final objection. That's why it's "probably" me and Nogrod next...)

The game starts after LMP's megalomaniac game is finished. We'd prefer to start in in early June, when our summer holidays have just begun. (2nd or 3rd or something like that.) Then we could have a better deadline, since if we have school/work we can't have a deadline that most people can cope with.

The game will be called The Island of Philosophical Penguins or The Island of Psychotic Penguins and it introduces a new lycantrophe species; werepenguin.

The game will have quite basic roles.

Thanks for support Jenny! But I think it's not so much an accent, as just plain and simple broken English... :D

Kath 05-07-2006 07:14 AM

If we're taking a vote on the name I'd go for The Island of Psychotic Penguins, but then I would ;)

Roa_Aoife 05-07-2006 11:37 AM

How many different species of therianthropes are there? As many as our mods want! I'm just waiting for the aquarium version where all the villagers are fish, and are being attacked by the evil were-sharks. They can protected by a Dolphin. :D

I say go for the philosophical penguins. So many philosophy jokes are just waiting to be made.

And Nogrod, I find your English to be quite good. I didn't even realize it wasn't your first language till I learned where you're from.

Diamond18 05-07-2006 05:08 PM

I say go for The Island of Psychotic Philosophical Penguins but then, I would. ;)

And Roa, you simply MUST mod the Weresharks game! :p

Roa_Aoife 05-07-2006 05:40 PM

Alright, if I ever decide to mod, I call Weresharks. Dibs, I tell you, DIBS! Of course, no garruntees on ever modding. I like playing far too much. ;)

Nogrod 05-07-2006 06:02 PM

I'm just shivering from the thought of weresharks! :D

But what is your opinion? We (Lommy & me) have been thinking about two different scenarios:

1) The old story about the elves making the icy passage to the ME - so what actually happened to those who never made it?

2) A luxury cruise on the fourth age, where a shipwreck would throw a bunch of ME aristocracy on a deserted island?

On both scenarios, you would have to pick up your roles from highly esteemed circles. But which one would be the more interesting? A purely elven game, or a post-LotR aristocracy game?

And as Lommy noted already: we will not be competing with Lmp's game, so we would start only after that game is at an end - and if Samwise doesn't suddenly appear and change his stance on the order of the games.

That's a reasonable concord... We'll see about it.

I think I like the sound of this one best... just call me Diawen. :D

littlemanpoet 05-07-2006 08:03 PM

a most insurrectional suggestion.....

we could always trade identities, just change passwords afterwards; you know,
Nogrod be Diamond,
Diamond be LMP,
LMP be Celuien,
Celuien be Feanor, then back to who we really are once the game's done.

Nah, I didn't really suggest that. :p

* LMP ducks as The Barrowwight aims the dreaded skeletal hand of doom in his direction.... *

Diamond18 05-07-2006 08:07 PM

The sheer madness of such a plan is too frightening to comtemplate, LMP

littlemanpoet 05-07-2006 08:11 PM

Ain't it though? :D

Glirdan 05-07-2006 08:12 PM

That is a truly mad plan and I'm surprised B-W hasn't already started chucking those skeletal hands at you yet! :D :p

Roa_Aoife 05-07-2006 08:59 PM

That would so confusing, yet, at the same time, awesome. Of course, you'd have to have great trust in the exchangee to give them your password. Even funnier- we could attempt to imitate whoever we were playing as... *dies of laughter just thinking about it.*

Just so great an idea!

Thinlómien 05-08-2006 05:44 AM

Three things:

1) LMP's idea is totally mad... It might even work but I think needs a lot of consideration and maybe works better as an intriguing possibility than a real game. :)

2) I got a PM from Samwise and now it is sure that I and Nogrod are the next mods.

3) Of those possibilities Nogrod introduced I myself am for the elf-scenario (as I have told Nogrod as well). We will give it some more thought as soon as we manage... And your comments are, of course, welcome.

Celuien 05-08-2006 08:06 AM

Brilliantly confusing and absolutely mad plan, Elempi. :D

Though I wonder. With enough frequenting of the forums (as I think just about all of us in the Werewolf obsessed group have), it could be sort of obvious which of us both play Werewolf and spend enough time chatting with each other to be willing to reveal our passwords. (Mine, by the way, comes from a random generator that I constructed to make 8 character, case-sensitive alpha-numeric passwords.) So it might not be too difficult to guess who swapped identities with whom, even if we do attempt to imitate each other's styles.

*Runs in terror from the skeletal hand of Doom*

Or we could attempt to imitate someone's style that we were not playing, f.g. I'd try to imitate Roa's style while playing Nogrod, so everyone would be sure that she was playing him... On the other hand I prefer Roa's idea, it gives the game the twist of parody... :D Actually I really started to imagine it only right now and am laughing aloud... :D :D Anyway, those imitating me or Roa would have hard time...

Roa_Aoife 05-08-2006 09:36 AM

Us? I would think SPM would be harder. It takes a lot of skill to talk so much while saying so little. ;)

Ah, but you only have experience of me as a Goose. When innocent, I do occasionally at least try to say something useful ... ;)

Imagine the havoc that one could cause on the other discussion threads if one was given licence, for Werewolf purposes, to post as another Downer ...

Personally speaking, my password is private and shall remain as such. And, no, my password is not the word "private".

Nogrod 05-08-2006 02:43 PM

I too find it a bit weird idea to go on sending passwords to one another - and it would surely be looked with an evil eye by the mods. But the idea of people trying to imitate one another is just hilarious! And there should be no objections to that from any skeletal hand of doom either.

Just think about the possibilities: Lommy playing with Elu-style, Spawn going Sleepy-ways, Valier or Eonwe flood-posting Roa/Lommy/Nogrod -style, Spm starting with Nilp suicide, Celuien snapping others Ang-style, Kath building theories on top of each other, Mith attacking aggressively everything that moves... That would just be a brainstorm of a game.

But is it playable as a a real game? I kind of suspect it. But a funny thought to entertain anyhow.

JennyHallu 05-08-2006 03:10 PM

Have you ever played the game where everyone in the room has someone else's name taped to their foreheads, and must ask others questions in order to determine their 'identity'? What you're describing sounds like that.

wilwarin538 05-09-2006 01:40 PM

Well we could change our passwords to the name of the person imitating us, then when the game is over we can just change our password back to the one we had before. So for example if SPM was imitating me, right before the game I would change my password to "Saucepan Man", then when he dies or the game ends I just change it back. This way we're not giving out anything personal and it's easier for the person imitating us to remember the password.

Personally I think it would be an amazing game. ;)
