Sleepy Ranger 04-07-2004 09:12 AM

Nope this isn't from FoTR.

Arvedui III 04-07-2004 08:29 PM

Herm... sounds like Sam, in Osgiliath maybe?

Orcrist 04-07-2004 08:46 PM

Sam in Shelob's Lair
If thats not right, can we have a clue?THe game maybe?

Sleepy Ranger 04-08-2004 12:55 PM

Its from the Hobbit.

Orcrist 04-10-2004 06:43 PM

Hopefully....

Bilbo in "Overhill and Underhill"

Sleepy Ranger 04-11-2004 01:29 AM

Wrong. Not said by Bilbo and not in this level.

Orcrist 04-11-2004 08:03 PM

Maybe...

That one farmer in the berry maze in Hobbiton?(Sorry, I don't know his name)

Sleepy Ranger 04-12-2004 05:40 AM

Nope.If you've played this level you'd have heard it a million times.

The Saucepan Man 04-12-2004 10:34 AM

Barrels out of Bond

It's one of the Elven guards in the Elven-King's palace. I'm working from memory here, but is it one of the guards in the first room that Bilbo comes to when he enters the caves? The female one nearest the exit, I think.

Sleepy Ranger 04-12-2004 11:32 AM

Yes thats it Saucepan Man. Actually almost every ELf in that level says it. :)

The Saucepan Man 04-13-2004 06:53 PM

Well that just goes to show how quickly I finished the level (*ahem* if only ...) ;)

Next question, and I am hoping that this will be quite tricksy:

The Perky Ent 04-13-2004 07:09 PM

I'm guessing something from the Hobbit or FOTR? In other words, is it from HOBBIT or FOTR

The Saucepan Man 04-13-2004 07:15 PM

No hints ... yet. :p

Thorongil 04-13-2004 11:12 PM

That one is not from TTT or RotK. No one says anything like that there. I need more games!!

The Saucepan Man 04-14-2004 11:43 AM

You are correct, Thorongil. It's not from TTT or RotK. I told you that it was tricksy. Keep guessing ...

What?!! You still want a hint? Oh, OK then. It is from what is probably one of the less well-known games.

What do you mean that doesn't help? ;)

Sleepy Ranger 04-14-2004 11:53 AM

Less known games? Could you tell us what platform its on? I have this strange feeling its one of those really old games. That have now gone out of existance.

The Saucepan Man 04-14-2004 11:57 AM

Implying ...

Are you implying something about my age there, Sleepy? :D

I have it on X-Box (I don't know whether it is also available on other systems).

Sleepy Ranger 04-14-2004 12:16 PM

I just went through a list of all the Xbox games ever made(and still to be made) and all the games I ended up with were
  • Hobbit
  • LoTR:FoTR
  • LoTR:TTT
  • LoTR:RoTK
  • LoTR:The treason of Isengard
So is it any of these?

The Saucepan Man 04-14-2004 12:22 PM

It carries the name of one of those, although it is perhaps not the one that you are thinking of. [insert evil smilie]

Enough clues. I want answers. :D

Orcrist 04-14-2004 08:57 PM

Ummmmm...

Elrond to Thorin&Co in the Hobbit?

The Saucepan Man 04-15-2004 05:46 PM

No. Wrong game, although it is a good guess.

Try working out who might have said this and to whom. Once you get that, it won't be too difficult to work out where it was said. If you can give me those three things, the thread is yours.

The Saucepan Man 04-17-2004 06:18 PM

No guesses?

Come on folks. Think who might have said this sort of thing.

And here's another hint. This character is not one who you would necessarily expect to feature in a videogame (or at least not in the parts where the player controls the action).

Thorongil 04-17-2004 11:06 PM

Well, Without having played the game in question it is difficult, but it sounds like something Gildor could have said when he met Frodo.

The Saucepan Man 04-18-2004 01:50 PM

No, the character is one more likely to feature in a videogame than Gildor.

Orcrist's guess was close, except that the game wasn't the Hobbit and the character saying the quote wasn't Elrond. Now, that should be a BIG hint. :p

Orcrist 04-18-2004 08:47 PM

Could it be this...

Celeborn to the Fellowship in Lothlorien? (FOTR)

The Saucepan Man 04-19-2004 03:21 AM

No. Your earlier guess was closer.

Orcrist 04-19-2004 08:09 PM

Arrrrrrggh...

Arwen to Aragorn in Rivendell?(FOTR)

The Saucepan Man 04-20-2004 05:43 AM

Now you're getting very warm indeed ...

Orcrist 04-20-2004 08:14 PM

I can't take much more of this...

Elrond to Aragorn in Rivendell?(FOTR)
(Dang you  )

The Saucepan Man 04-20-2004 08:48 PM

I can ...

Colder. :D

Thorongil 04-21-2004 01:35 AM

Arwen to Frodo in Rivendell?(FOTR)

The Saucepan Man 04-21-2004 07:34 AM

Bingo! Well done, Thorongil. :)

The game is indeed FotR, although not the pure fighting-based one that seems to be the more popular. This one follows the book story more (it has Bombadil and the Barrow-Wight, for example) and you play (on different levels) Frodo, Aragron and Gandalf. Personally, I preferred it as there was more exploring and puzzle-solving involved, but that's probably just me.

Your up next, Thorongil.

Thorongil 04-28-2004 11:47 PM

Sorry for the delay. Just a stroke of bad memory. Well, anyway, here is the next quote:
Quote:

Wrong way!

Thorongil 05-05-2004 12:52 AM

What? No guesses? I'm sure you gamers out there can handle this one.

Orcrist 05-13-2004 08:39 PM

How about Aragorn to Gimli in paths of the dead?(ROTK)
(Hey, how about giving us the game since no one seems to be guessing)

Thorongil 05-13-2004 11:09 PM

Close guess. Check a few levels later in the game.

Orcrist 05-14-2004 08:24 PM

Gimli in the Pellenor Fields?

Thorongil 05-17-2004 07:07 AM

Nope. This is not something they usually say. You have to check places a little out of the way.

Orcrist 05-18-2004 08:45 PM

Sam in Shelob's Lair?(Could I have the character?Pleassssse my preciousssss.)

Thorongil 05-19-2004 01:46 AM

Since I'm such a nice guy, I'll tell you: Both Aragorn and Legolas said it in the same level.
