Yes, this thread is great :)

And the answer must be Mouth of Sauron about Gandalf?

Re: Aliiive

Ah, but Gandalf was The White by then! Who else then? Gandalf had many enemies... Could it be the Goblins of the Misty Mountains after Gandalf's (and Thorin & Co's) rescue by the eagles? Saruman after Gandalf was rescued (again) by an eagle from Orthanc? Perhaps Gollum after Gandalf had "wrung the truth from him" in Mirkwood? The Nazgūl after their run-in with Gandalf at Weathertop?

It could be the Wargs after Gandalf drives them back. He was still Gandalf the Grey at that point.

Hmm

Actually, many of those answers that have been given would well fit into my quote; but the one I am after is none of those. Do not fear, Lorien Wanderer! The answer is right under your nose. I'll give a hint, because things have to move along. The person that I am thinking of having 'said' that was not one who would be classically associated as a 'bad guy.'

Maybe it's Gandalf meaning that he will return Narya to Cķrdan when he returns into the west

Maybe it's the Ring itself, referring to its plan (!) to reunite with its dark Maker and wreak havoc on Gandalf and the rest of Middle-earth.

Okay, this might be really easy, but who might have said:

And to who would they have said it?

And the answer must be Eomer to Gimli about Galadriel and Arwen

HI, you are correct! I was thinking of Eomer speaking to Gimli regarding his preference of Arwen's beauty over that of Galadriel.
