I vote Tar Ardamin - you may argue that he is not the 16th ruler of Numenor, but the 19th..... there were 3 queens ... so <img src=smile.gif ALT=":)">

all of them or one in particular?

piosenniel 10-06-2002 02:12 PM

You need not say specifics of where each went, but how they all came to leave Númenor.

Telchar 10-07-2002 01:27 AM

They were with Elendil and his sons when they fled from the destruction of Numenor - two With Anarion, two With Isildur and three with Elendil. Afterwards they were placed at strategic and geographic suitable sites like Osgiliath, Minas Anor, Orthanc and Minas Ithil in the Southern Kingdom and like site in the Northern Kingdom.

piosenniel 10-07-2002 12:16 PM

Excellent!

Have you a question, now?

Telchar 10-08-2002 03:24 AM

Which Numenorean King build a tower for astronomical observations in the north of Numenor?

Telchar 10-08-2002 03:26 AM

Dagor nu Giliath? I have no books to confirm spelling 'The battle under the Stars'

Eruhen 10-08-2002 09:02 AM

Tar-Meneldil built the tower on Forrostar.

Telchar 10-08-2002 09:28 AM

You are so close that I'll let you have it.
For the record Meneldil was the son of Anarion whom Isildur instructed and made heir and King of Gondor andter Tha Last Alliance. Tar Meneldur was fifth king of Numenor - an it was of course him you were thinking of - please proceed

Eruhen 10-09-2002 06:34 AM

I thought that it made sense to say Meneldil, because the name translates as "Lover of Heaven". Anyway. What were the names of the three ceremonies that were held on the Meneltarma each year?

piosenniel 10-10-2002 12:31 AM

Erukyermë - in the first days of Spring

Erulaitalë - in midsummer

Eruhantalë - at the end of autimn

Eruhen 10-10-2002 09:18 AM

Go right ahead, piosenniel.

piosenniel 10-10-2002 09:39 AM

What is the line of descent of Nimloth, and its fate?

piosenniel 10-12-2002 01:50 PM

No answers!

Try this one:

How many roads led to the top of Meneltarma.

Telchar 10-12-2002 04:28 PM

Im not sure - Im guessing only one?

piosenniel 10-13-2002 02:50 PM

On target!

Have you a question?

Telchar 10-14-2002 01:01 AM

I do - The axe of Tuor was a mighty heirloom in Numenor. What name has that axe and what does the name mean?

piosenniel 10-14-2002 02:12 AM

You made me search for this one!

I knew it was named Dramborleg.

But I had to read through the footnotes to 'A Description of Númenor' to find its meaning:

Thudder-Sharp

Telchar 10-14-2002 04:48 AM

Indeed good work !

piosenniel 10-14-2002 11:24 AM

What was the name of the first ship to sail back to Middle-earth from Númenor?

piosenniel 10-19-2002 11:27 PM

Entulessë, it was, that first sailed into Mithlond, captained by Vëantur, Tar-elendil was the King at the time.

Anyone else have a question?

Telchar 10-23-2002 02:20 AM

Good question though, piosenniel

What harbor did Aldarion establish in ME with the purpose of shipping timber to Numenor?

[ October 23, 2002: Message edited by: Telchar ]

piosenniel 10-23-2002 08:12 PM

I'll let someone else guess this one.

Here's a hint,though:

in Eriador, at the mouth of the Gwathlö

also called, Lond Daer Enedh

Telchar 10-24-2002 02:37 AM

that was more than a hint - - go on piosenniel

piosenniel 10-24-2002 05:41 PM

Come, now! Someone must have heard of Vinyalondë (the answer to the previous question)

Here's one:

Who was the son of Silmarien and Elatan, & why was he so important to the history of Middle Earth?
