That's the one!
Sophia |
Thanks....I wasn't sure.
Here's mine: Trahald, meaning "Burrow Deep". |
What is the Mannish name for Gollum?
|
Exactly right.....your go.
|
Beren?
|
I'm conscious, really I am.
The tributaries of what river flowed through Ossiriand, and how many are there? |
Gelion- 7 tributaries if you count Little Gelion, 6 if you don't.
|
Woops. Your turn Sophia.
And now that I've set two bad examples, let's remember to keep it in Jeopary style. =P |
As it's been more than ten days.....
(Jeopardy style ) "Beregond's son." |
Who is Bergil?
|
Correct, Beren
|
Isildur's son.
|
Who is Valandil?
|
You get the trip to Europe, .
|
Thanks (already in Europe though, how about the one to Middle Earth?)
Ok: Next one: Mahtan. |
Who was the father of Nerdanel?
|
You are absolutely correct!
|
The Union of Maedhros.
|
What is the name of the elf alliance formed by Maedhros who resulted in the battle of Unnumbered Tears?
Tricky one. Calls for careful phrasing of the question! |
Most of the Eldar of Beleriand, and the Edain, and Easterlings some of whom proved treacherous -- yes. And 'which' would have been more grammatically correct than 'who', but you can go (although I'll be keeping my eye on you...).

Sorry, English isn't my first language. As if you couldn't tell...
Back to the topic: The Umanyar. |
Really? Not bad, then. (Talking over the Internet does, of course, have the capacity (even tendency sometimes ) to allow for an amount of slackness in the linguistics that people may employ on its bandiwith...)
What is the collective term for those Elvish tribes other than the Vanyar, the Noldor or the Teleri (those that reached Aman)? |
Hmmm...Not to be picky, but that's a bit vague. The Umanyar are Eldar (they hearkened the summons) but Moriquendi (they tarried on the way, and never saw Aman), hence the name: those who did not see Aman.
But you were basically correct, so the floor is yours. |
Touche.... =]
Dor-Winion. |
What place in Middle Earth is famous for its wines? (or better said, vintages)
|
Ok, go ahead.
|
You know, I was thinking - let's make this more interesting. So here is the new one:
Changed colour. I hope I'm not making new rules in the process - but the idea is: any question that will elicit this answer is good, even as long as it's not what I had in mind. Again, I hope I'm not tampering with the rules of this game. |
I'm new here! Tell me if I do something wrong!
What did Gandalf do when he returned from defeating the Balrog? |
Welcome to the Downs, Mithisilien.

You can do that by sending a PM (personal message) – just click on the middle of the three icons (two people joined by a dotted line) next to the name of the person that you want to send it to (where it appears on one of their posts). Welcome also to the Quiz Room. It’s always good to see keen new Quizzers. It’s worth reading the Quiz Room Rules, if you haven't already, since these set out the rules governing all of the Quiz Game threads in this forum. I hope you enjoy yourself on the Downs and here in the Quiz Room. Have fun! [ September 01, 2003: Message edited by: The Saucepan Man ] |
A warm welcome from me as well, Mithisilien!
Yes, you are correct - many answers were possbile with this question and yours was one! Your turn now |
Hmmmm, OK.
Brought ill tidings of evil escaped. (I hope it's not too easy...) |
Who is Gandalf?
EDIT: *Squeeeee!!!* Happy 100th post to me!!!! (I really hope I'm correct or I'll feel like a rather large imbecile ) [ September 01, 2003: Message edited by: Cinderella ] |
Who is Legolas at the Council of Elrond?
[ September 01, 2003: Message edited by: Faenaduial ] |
Faenaduial got it! Your turn!
|
The Lake of Twilight.
|
By which lake did the Elves first awake in Middle Earth?
|
Sorry, that is not correct.
|
Sorry - for some reason I confused the Lake of Twilight with the Water of Awakening. Possibly because the elves awoke in twilight.
Can I try again? By which lake was the city of Annuminas built? |
Annuminas was the first capitol of Arnor, Elendil built it on the shore of Nenuial.
Lets keep the questions in Jeopardy form. |
Beren, you got the answer I was looking for:
"What in another name for Nenuial?" Please proceed. |
