Susan Delgado 04-20-2002 12:13 PM

ok, I have another one.

Why is a raven like a writing desk? no, wait, that won't do....

Round as a saucer and deep as a cup.
All the King's horses couldn't pull it up.

Starbreeze 04-20-2002 12:17 PM

Gah! Stupid Starbreeze *hits head on wall repeatedly* Oh well, here is another riddle:

I'm a dwarf among plants.
I am a mountain to ants,
I'm not green like leaves
I'm a target for theives

What am I?

This is kinda ME related, but only just.

Susan Delgado 04-20-2002 04:50 PM

This is silly, but..is it a garden gnome?

Tigerlily Gamgee 04-21-2002 02:19 AM

Starbreeze... is the answer Mushrooms?

Starbreeze 04-21-2002 05:42 AM

Yep. Susan strikes again, it is a garden gnome *sighs* I hope I can find at least one to fool you Susan!

KingCarlton 04-21-2002 06:02 AM

A hole in the ground ?

Susan Delgado 04-21-2002 10:39 AM

I was right?? wow...I read Tigerlily's answer and was sure I was wrong.

Very close, KC. It's a certain type of hole.

Tigerlily Gamgee 04-21-2002 07:22 PM

Is it a crater (I think I spelled that right)?

Susan Delgado 04-21-2002 09:25 PM

Nope, not a crater

KingCarlton 04-22-2002 02:59 AM

The hole on the golf green ?

Susan Delgado 04-22-2002 11:00 AM

Getting warmer...

KingCarlton 04-23-2002 01:06 AM

Yearrgghh ..what a tease !

Hole in Croquet ?
A bird bath in the groung?
A hobbit Hole?
A Rabbit/rodent burrow?

I give up. *bangs head on floor

Susan Delgado 04-23-2002 11:15 AM

Don't give up! Here, I'll offer this hint as a bribe so you'll keep guessing

In older versions of this thing, a bucket was involved. Now, no buckets are necessary.

Starbreeze 04-23-2002 12:40 PM

A well?

Susan Delgado 04-23-2002 04:47 PM

Got it

Ok, someone else's turn now.

Here's a new one:

"The beginning of eternity
The end of time and space
The beginning of every end,
And the end of every place."

Susan Delgado 04-24-2002 12:16 AM

As I have heard this one before, I shall bow out in favor of the other riddlers

KingCarlton 04-24-2002 01:12 AM

Round as a saucer, deep as a cup...how's that a well...the deception..the deception...

Hit me with a hammer
hit me with a stake...

No that isn't a riddle, just my frustration.

"The beginning of eternity
The end of time and space
The beginning of every end,
And the end of every place."
is -

Sleep !
Death !
Birth !

Am I dumb or what?

Bragolandune 04-24-2002 01:21 PM

Tigerlily, is it the letter 'e' ?

Starbreeze 04-24-2002 02:22 PM

Hey Tigerlily! You stole my riddle! My friend told me that and I was just going to post it today! Do we have the same friend? No really, I'm not mad at you. Its just a shame thats all.
I'm not at all mad at you, more suprised than anything really.
Susan - did I get it right?

Starbreeze 04-24-2002 02:23 PM

Yey! 800 posts! Go me!

Tigerlily Gamgee 04-24-2002 11:00 PM

The answer is indeed the letter "E"!
Sorry, Starbreeze. I didn't know I didn't mean to steal your riddle, honest!

Susan Delgado 04-25-2002 01:03 AM

Yes you did, Starbreeze

I've also heard that "E" riddle answered with The Sea

In spring I am gay, in handsome array;
In summer more clothing I wear.
When colder it grows, I fling off my clothes,
And in winter quite naked appear.

Nobody thinks that, KC, and neither should you. Just try to have fun; maybe ask us a riddle.

Piosennial-This one doesn't have an answer. I just put it out there as a joke
It came from Alice in Wonderland and The Last Unicorn

i, too, had read this many, many years ago in the lewis carrol book and have asked many people what they thought the answer was.

here's my answer:
why is a raven like a writing desk?

because they both have inky feathers

Tigerlily Gamgee 04-25-2002 05:44 PM

Susan, is the answer to your latest riddle a tree?

Susan Delgado 04-26-2002 12:14 AM

That's right, Tigerlily. Your turn, I think

Well, piosennial, I guess I never really gave it an answer; I just accepted that there wasn't one. I do like yours, though. What other answers have you heard?

piosenniel 04-26-2002 09:02 AM

susan - i've never heard any other answers. it's always been the ETERNAL riddle for me. that's why when you posed it earlier, my heart stopped and i thought 'finally, someone has found the answer!!!!'

Susan Delgado 04-26-2002 05:13 PM

Have you considered that perhaps you have found the answer? I think "inky feathers" is a very good answer.

[ April 27, 2002: Message edited by: Susan Delgado ]

Tigerlily Gamgee 04-26-2002 11:21 PM

Yay! I got one!
OK, here's another I found...

"There was a green house.
Inside the green house there was a white house
Inside the white house there was a red house.
Inside the red house there were lots of babies."

Susan Delgado 04-27-2002 04:32 AM

I've heard this one somewhere before, and I think I remember the answer, so I'll abstain.

piosenniel 04-27-2002 11:30 AM

tigerlilly - is this a watermelon?

Tigerlily Gamgee 04-27-2002 11:36 AM

Yup, a watermelon!
I guess I find the easy ones!

piosenniel 04-27-2002 11:40 AM

have we done this one:

what goes up the chimney down
but not down the chimney up?

Tigerlily Gamgee 04-27-2002 11:43 PM

huh? That's confusing...
Is it Santi Claus

Is it ash?
I need to make my brain work better

piosenniel 04-28-2002 03:45 PM

it's a common old riddle!
no, it's not santa or ash
try again!!

Tigerlily Gamgee 04-28-2002 07:03 PM

I wasn't actually serious about Santa Claus
I'll keep thinking!

piosenniel 04-29-2002 02:33 PM

here's a major hint:

i bring shade on a sunny day
& keep you dry when rain comes your way

Bragolandune 04-29-2002 05:56 PM
