Bad television, I salute thee
My head was feeling crowded, so I had to be democratic. It's a shame we can't embed those awful sound effects from Family Fortunes into the posts. Or is it?
Anyway, without further ado, and, like a young Polonius, shunning procrastination and prolixity, distilling the post down to its barest essentials and leaving not a word in place that does not in some way bear upon the subject at hand; pushing, indeed, the limits of brevity to the borders of terseness, I shall proceed to set before you the next question. Valaróma 1: The constellation which we call Ursa Minor 2: The name of a temple in Kôr 3: Oromë's hunting horn 4: Tolkien's word for red cabbage |
With no time to look it up, I shall go with my best guess: 3?
|
I tried looking it up but for some reason I could not find it.... Still, I believe it is actually 1
|
Im pretty sure it's #2 ....yep I'm sure
|
*bump*
Oh Squatter, could you please come and tell us that Firefoot got it right? Or perhaps Firefoot can just take it?
|
I can. And just for proof:
Quote:
Lothron A. One of the outlaws in Turin's band. B. Grithnir's companion. C. Gondorian fief. D. Great plain in Beleriand. E. Month in which Aragorn was crowned King. |
It sounds like a month...
And I can come up with real answers for the other choices, I say E.
|
<- the hand...
Your go!
|
Othrod
A. The Sceptre of Numenor B. A river ford in Beleriand C. The troll whose foot Frodo stabbed D. An orc slain by Tuor E. The month in which Elendil was born |
D.
|
Beautiful
|
Thanks.
Galvorn: A. Type of metal. B. Man slain in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad. C. Plant native to Ithilien. D. Man living in Lake-town. E. A ship from Pelargir. |
A. Type of Metal
|
Of course. Your go!

Inzilbêth
A. Name of a month B. A city of dwarves C. Ship that sailed west D. Mother of a King E. Tiny scarlet birds found in Númenor |
I am pretty sure it is not a ship!
It does not sound like a dwarven name and I really do not remember any scarlet birds! But then again I have not read or talked about anything Tolkien related for a very long time. That leaves me with a month and a mother. . . I am guessing Mother of a King. It just sounds more like a name than a month to me. |
Yep, you're right. Inzilbêth was the mother of Tar-Palantir.
Your go! :D |
Rothinzil
A. The Last of the Seven Rings B. The Ship of Vëantur C. The Ship of Eärendil D. The Sword of Éomer E. A River of Ossiriand |
B, right?
|
C
|
Sorry Lommy but it is infact The Ship of Eärendil.
Your turn Mettare, good job. |
:D
Kirinki A. Elven script B. Son of Mîm C. River in Middle-Earth D. Constellation E. Scarlet birds of Númenor |
I am sure it is not the son of Mim. (man I will be embarased if that is the right one)
My guess will be an Elven script. Was it not the one that was invented in Doriath and used alot by dwarves ? A |
Nope. ;)
The script you think of is probably Cirth aka Runes. |
I think it's E...a kirinki is a kind of bird found in Numenor.
Did I get it right? |
Yep, Sting, you're absolutely correct! :D
Your turn! |
Ok, here's one:
What is Tar-menel? A. "Sky-Summit;" Elvish name for a mountain in the Undying Lands. B. The sword of Glorfindel, "Lightning (from the) Sky." C. "Sky-Shine;" a mithril shield carried by Arwen. D. "Over-Heaven;" an Elvish term for the firmament or sky. E. The name of the ford across the Grinding Ice, the "High Death." Have fun! |
A is it not?
|
Nope, it's not A. :p
Here's a Hint: in the Last Homely House you might Hear about it  |
D then...
