Hewn from the beechwoods of Nimbrethil

Telchar 10-26-2002 01:20 AM

Yes indeed

piosenniel 10-26-2002 10:08 AM

In a dream Ulmo spoke to two elves and bade them build hidden fortresses.

Who were they, what did they build?

Susan Delgado 10-26-2002 02:21 PM

Turgon and Finrod.
Turgon was to build Gondolin and Finrod Nargothrond. Each was later destroyed by the treachery of Morgoth.

Pallando B.C 11-03-2002 03:09 AM

Ok here's one.
Q:Who was the main contributer to the capture of Turin ( which eventually lead on to Beleg's death )

Nemoi13 11-03-2002 07:23 AM

Mim, I think

Pallando B.C 11-03-2002 11:30 PM

Correct- now give me one.

Nemoi13 11-04-2002 08:44 AM

What names were given to the slayer of Glaurung? There are 10!

Turambar 11-04-2002 09:09 AM

1. Turin
2. Turambar ("Master of Doom")
3. Adanedhel ("Elf Man")
4. Agarwaen ("Bloodstained")
5. Gorthol ("Dread Helm")
6. Neithan ("Wronged")
7. Mormegil ("Black Sword")
8. Wildman of the Woods
9. ?
10. ?

Lindolirian 11-04-2002 08:04 PM

Dagnir Glaurunga which means Glaurung's Bane could be added to that.

Pallando B.C 11-10-2002 03:30 AM

Ok this one is easy.
Q: Who was the first person recorded to have made lembas?

Telchar 11-10-2002 07:48 AM

I would say Melian?

Pallando B.C 11-10-2002 07:00 PM

Correct as usual Telchar

Telchar 11-11-2002 10:49 AM

Vinyamar was build near what mountain?

Túroch 11-11-2002 05:27 PM

I would say Mount Taras.

Pallando B.C 11-13-2002 09:13 PM

What Vala was the main contributer to the construction of Gondolin?

Annii 11-13-2002 09:30 PM

Would that be Ulmo?

Legolas 11-13-2002 09:46 PM

Pallando, you have to answer Telchar's question before you can ask.

Gwaihir the Windlord 11-13-2002 11:43 PM

Lol, what a mess... Turoch, go ahead. Pallando, please in future, remember that to ask, you must first answer and recieve confirmation of answer. It isn't a free-for-all.

However, if you want to ask your question without first answering (patience...!) you can start your own thread. Click on New Topic to do this.

Welcome though, all three of you.

Túroch 11-14-2002 01:05 AM

Okay. Lets see here.....oh i've got a good one. Which one of the Valar was first to know about the Quendi (the first elves)?

Pallando B.C 11-14-2002 03:03 AM

Sorry, i am new to the downs and am still adjusting. I thought since it was already answered by Turoch that the question was answered. Anyway the answer is Mount Taras. ( i knew that anyway )

Pallando B.C 11-14-2002 03:16 AM

Ok, im well aware of the rules and im sorry if i made a mess, anyway was the Vala Orome?

Gwaihir the Windlord 11-14-2002 04:07 AM

(smiles encouragingly at Pallando) Reminds me of my first few posts here, actually

Túroch 11-14-2002 03:08 PM

Your close Pallando, Orome was the Second Vala to have knowledge of the Quendi's exsitencec. Who has the first.

Lindolirian 11-14-2002 04:53 PM

Well now that you say that, I know that you're thinking of Melkor, but technically he wasn't a Vala anymore, or at least I don't think. Anyways, its Melkor.

Túroch 11-14-2002 05:24 PM

You got it Lindolirian sorry if it was a bit confusing.

Lindolirian 11-15-2002 05:30 PM

Who is Mahal?

piosenniel 11-15-2002 05:53 PM

The name among Dwarves for the Vala Aulë.

Lindolirian 11-15-2002 05:55 PM

Once again, you are correct.

piosenniel 11-15-2002 05:59 PM

Who was led by the swans' flight?

Lindolirian 11-15-2002 06:00 PM

Tuor.

piosenniel 11-15-2002 06:08 PM

Seven feathers for you! Continue, please.

Lindolirian 11-15-2002 06:12 PM

Yahoo! Who took the Necklace of the Dwarves from the halls of Nulukkizdin?

piosenniel 11-15-2002 06:21 PM

Was that Húrin, who took it from Glaurung and gave it to Thingol?

Lindolirian 11-15-2002 06:23 PM

Well since I only asked who, I'll give it to ya, but Glaurung was already dead when he took it, yeah, sorta..

piosenniel 11-15-2002 06:34 PM

I should have been more specific - he took it from Glaurung's Hoard.

What was the Noontide of the Blesséd Realm?

Telchar 11-16-2002 03:13 AM

the 2sd age of the chaining of Melkor?

piosenniel 11-16-2002 01:09 PM

Mea culpa! This was a prior to the First Age question.

Telchar was correct - It was 2nd Age in the Ages of The Trees, and referred to the chaining of Melkor.

Go ahead, Telchar - bring us back to the 1st Age.

Túroch 11-25-2002 12:02 AM

Hmm this thread appears to be falling back into the mists of history. I hope Telchar forgives me for bursting in on his turn, but i'd like to see this thread have some more action. Okay here's a question for anyone who wants it. What king was called "he who looks afar".
