Nilwen 09-28-2002 03:03 AM

Who has it,Beren or I?The book says...
Quote:

"Seven right, yes.Six left, yes"he whispered."This is it.This is the way to the back-door,yes.Here's the passage!"
Not seventh left and sixth right,As Beren said.So whos go is it.

This is an easy one.

TolkienGurl 09-29-2002 03:17 PM

Tuesday because Gandalf came to tea the next day: Gandalf Tea Wednesday is what Bilbo wrote down on his Engagement Tablet.

Question: Which of the dwarves survived the Battle of the Five Armies?

akhtene 09-29-2002 05:54 PM

10 of them survived: Dwalin, Balin, Dori, Ori, Nori, Oin, Gloin, Bifur, Bomur and Bombur.

lathspell 10-07-2002 11:11 AM

hobbitlass 10-07-2002 12:16 PM

Nilwen 10-12-2002 05:56 AM

hobbitlass 10-12-2002 08:06 AM

ME?! It's Lathspell we're waiting on, answered my question correctly. But it has been 4 days, so I say whoever has a question, go ahead and post.

LadyElbereth 10-13-2002 08:29 AM

I hope you all don't mind me going. Here's a pretty easy one:

What color was Balin's hood?

[ October 13, 2002: Message edited by: LadyElbereth ]

Susan Delgado 10-13-2002 10:38 AM

Scarlet

What are the names of Bilbo and Gandalf's swords, in both Westron and whatever form of Elvish they're named in?

LadyElbereth 10-13-2002 11:44 AM

You're right Susan Delgado, Balin's hood was scarlet. You were supposed to wait to ask a question till I told you if you were correct or not but since you already did, I'm going to try to answer it. Is the answer...

Gandlaf's sword: Glamdring, Foe-hammer
Bilbo's sword: Sting

Susan Delgado 10-13-2002 01:07 PM

I knew I was correct *shrug*

As for your answer, it's half right. What are Sting's names?

LadyElbereth 10-14-2002 06:29 PM

*Ack* I'm stumped. Anyone else care for a try?

Childlike Empress 10-20-2002 12:51 AM

Well, sheesh, can't anyone guess it? It's a very easy question.

Nilwen 10-20-2002 03:49 AM

As far as I know,Bilbo named Sting.I dont remember any other names given.

LadyElbereth 10-20-2002 09:27 AM

Yeah, I thought he only called it Sting and Childlike Empress if YOU know the answer why don't you answer it!!!!!!

TolkienGurl 10-20-2002 11:19 AM

The only names I can remember given to swords in The Hobbit, other than Sting, are 'Beater' and 'Biter' given to Glamdring the Foe-hammer and Orcrist the Goblin-cleaver. I don't think Sting had any other names.

Childlike Empress 10-20-2002 11:24 AM

Ahem, Tolkeingurl, Orcrist the Goblin-cleaver. Why was that so hard???

Susan Delgado 10-20-2002 11:37 AM

Indeed, out of place or not, the Empress is correct. Sting's Gondolinian name was Orcrist, the Goblin-cleaver. And this took much longer than I expected; it was an easy question, and, in fact, its answer can be found the the same place Lady Elbereth found Glamdring. They are both named in the same sentence.
