(HoME)

Nilpaurion Felagund 11-22-2004 09:12 PM

6. What creature's teeth were said to be "hard to come by"?

Firefoot 11-23-2004 06:55 AM

A hurried guess before I leave...

Scatha the Worm's?

Nilpaurion Felagund 11-24-2004 01:56 AM

More general . . .

Dragons'?

Lindolirian 11-25-2004 08:11 PM

Sorry Nil, Firefoot's was more correct.

7. Dairon's curse was said to have affected the birds of Doriath and also these creatures.

And yes, that spelling of 'Dairon' was on purpose. It's a bit of a hint...

Firefoot 11-25-2004 08:25 PM

Bees.

Lindolirian 11-28-2004 04:00 PM

Of course. :)

Firefoot 11-28-2004 04:17 PM

A vole.

Lindolirian 11-28-2004 05:09 PM

Y'know, I try to find some time when Firefoot isn't online to give the other folks a chance, but nooo! Firefoot's just too quick and witty for that. :smokin: I'm just kidding with you...;) Well, you answer 'em faster than I can think of 'em, so I'll be back.

Lindolirian 11-30-2004 05:00 PM

Firefoot for the win, or Nil to close the gap to the tie...

9. What creature was it that cried in the same place that Morgoth let loose his greatest cry, but this one was only audible to the ears of the "immortal Man"?

Gil-Galad 11-30-2004 07:41 PM

hmm...i keep thinking Ungoliant....

Lindolirian 11-30-2004 07:42 PM

Keep thinking... the immortal Man is the biggest clue.

The Saucepan Man 11-30-2004 08:28 PM

Are you thinking of the "great gulls beloved of the Teleri" whose cries Tuor heard at the Firth of Drengist?

Lindolirian 11-30-2004 08:41 PM

I am, but sorry Saucepan, it only sealed the win for Firefoot.:)

Final Scores:

The thread is yours, Firefoot!

Nilpaurion Felagund 12-03-2004 02:58 AM

Ack! No!

I just knew that typhoon was part of a conspiracy to keep me away so I won't have the chance to tie with Firefoot.

*silence*

Nah, she deserved it . . .

Firefoot 12-03-2004 03:18 PM

Typhoon, Nil? Sounds like fun...

Thank'ee.

The next topic is Roads, Trails, and Passes.

1. Along what trail might you find a multitude of wasted arrows?

Gil-Galad 12-03-2004 06:09 PM

along the gladden fields? where Isildurs men cut down? or maybe its Boromirs dieing spot...

Firefoot 12-03-2004 06:35 PM

Neither. It's a specific trail.

Lindolirian 12-03-2004 07:17 PM

The Road near the Guarded Plain on which Orleg was shot down, but Túrin escaped.

Firefoot 12-04-2004 05:14 PM

Nada.

Firefoot 12-08-2004 02:56 PM

Hint: It's not in the Sil or UT. And it has an actual name.

Nilpaurion Felagund 12-09-2004 09:43 PM

Nice av, Firefoot!

Anywhen, is the answer the Old Dwarf road, where Thorin's companions wasted their arrows shooting a white deer?

Firefoot 12-10-2004 06:07 AM

Good.

2. According to Bilbo, what three places can be reached using the same road as is in the Shire?

Lindolirian 12-10-2004 09:53 PM

Mirkwood, the Lonely Mountain and futher to even worse places!

By the way... snazzy new avvie, Firefoot.:)

Firefoot 12-11-2004 07:15 AM

Correct and thanks. :)

4. If you take the road west from the place where the white flowers are like stars, where is your first stop?

Gil-Galad 12-11-2004 11:44 AM

Banks of the Anduin, or maybe even Dol Guldur

Firefoot 12-11-2004 11:54 AM

No. (And I think that would be going east, not west)

Gil-Galad 12-11-2004 11:55 AM

woops my bad...heh... then wouldn't it be the East-gate of Moria?

Firefoot 12-11-2004 04:41 PM

Nope - the flowers aren't in Lorien.

Rochelle 12-11-2004 05:15 PM

Hmm... Possibly Beleriand? Or even Ithilien.

Evisse the Blue 12-12-2004 01:42 PM

Dunharrow?

Firefoot 12-12-2004 02:14 PM

Good guesses, but no.

Since the question was somewhat vague, a hint: at this place there are several directions on which you could take the road.

Lindolirian 12-12-2004 03:14 PM

Due west from the Cross-roads would take one to the east bank of Anduin north of Osgiliath, but if you follow the road, which is more southwest, it goes to Osgiliath.

Firefoot 12-12-2004 04:10 PM

Good job!

5. What was the name of the pass through the Defense?

Rochelle 12-12-2004 05:42 PM

Hmm both Cirith Gorgor and Cirith Ungol are passes through the defenses of Mordor

Firefoot 12-12-2004 05:45 PM

Nope - the capitol "D" is a hint.

Flittermouse 12-12-2004 05:49 PM

Perhaps the Pass of Anach in the Defense against Morgoth in Beleriand?
