Returned, hmm? Finwë never left, so that rules him out.

Finarfin* (though he never really went back to ME, so I don't know if he counts)
Feanor*
Aredhel
Angrod/Aegnor
Fingolfin
Finrod
Fingon
Orodreth
Finduilas
Celegorm/Curufin/Caranthir
Maeglin
Turgon
Idril
Amrod/Amras
Eärendil
Maedhros
Maglor? (not certain that he ever went back)
Celebrimbor*
Gil-Galad*
Elrond/Galadriel*

* Not in the First Age (this is First Age Trivia, after all ;))

Nilpaurion Felagund 03-03-2005 08:42 PM

Hmmm . . .

I'm thinking Eärendil got there first before Idril, but all else looks correct.

http://forum.barrowdowns.com/ubb/icons/icon14.gif You're up. :)

NightKnight 03-04-2005 11:01 AM

Possibly, but she left ME before him at least.

Anyway, ze question...

Who was Turin's grandfather's sister (two answers, I want both)?

Fingolfin II 03-04-2005 07:54 PM

Gloredhel (Galdor's sister) is the only one I know of. I don't think Baragund (Morwen's father) had a sister?

luthien-elvenprincess 03-05-2005 07:30 AM

Turin's great-aunt on his mother's side is Haleth; great-aunt on father's side is Gloredhel

NightKnight 03-05-2005 10:56 AM

You have Gloredhel right, but who's the other one?

Lindolirian 04-03-2005 09:14 AM

Bereth, sis of Baragund.

NightKnight 04-04-2005 07:43 AM

Yup. Fingolfin or Lindo gets it (you both got one right).

Lindolirian 04-23-2005 09:07 PM

Oh looky, a thread that has slipped my mind...

What was the signal that was supposed to allow simultaneous attack at the beginning of the Nirnaeth?

NightKnight 04-24-2005 05:55 AM

A great fire in Dorthonion.

Lindolirian 04-24-2005 09:16 AM

That's was it!

NightKnight 04-24-2005 01:23 PM

Oh crap, now I have to think up a new question. I've gotta stop answering so many threads. :p

Why was the lighting of that fire delayed?

mormegil 04-24-2005 09:20 PM

It was delayed because of the councils of Uldor the accursed that Maedhros listened to.

NightKnight 04-25-2005 11:16 AM

Exactly. Uldor told Maedhros that an attack from Angband was coming, which held him back.

mormegil 04-25-2005 11:59 AM

Good...I hope this is a decent question (it being my first)

At what time of day did Khim die?

mormegil 04-29-2005 12:31 PM

Okay, in an attempt to not allow this thread to drift into oblivion I will give the answer and hope that somebody will post a question.

He died at sunset

NightKnight 04-30-2005 10:59 AM

When did Finrod Felagund die?

Celebriel Esgaledhel 05-01-2005 12:02 PM

While saving Beren from the Werewolf in Sauron's prisons. He fought the wolf with only his hands, and succeeded in killing it, though he himself was mortally wounded.

What was the demise of Fingon?

Gil-Galad 05-01-2005 02:04 PM

NightKnight is suppose to confirm your anwser...if it is correct then continue with your question

NightKnight 05-02-2005 04:39 AM

Actually, mormegil posted an answer that we are supposed to give the question to. That's what I did.

The Saucepan Man 05-02-2005 10:28 AM

Confusion!

Actually, mormegil posted the answer to his previous question and invited anyone to continue with a new question. Which was what everyone assumed that you had done, Nightknight.

I suggest that the thread continues with Celebriel Esgaledhel's question, although Gil-Galad is correct. You should wait for confirmation of your answer before posting a new question.

So the question, posted by Celebriel Esgaledhel's, is:

What was the demise of Fingon?

Envinyatar 05-02-2005 11:46 AM

Slain by Gothmog during the Nirnaeth Arnoediad

Celebriel Esgaledhel 05-02-2005 07:42 PM

Of course! :) Your turn

Celebriel Esgaledhel 05-02-2005 07:58 PM

Hmmm....I've just read the last few posts. If one is sure that the answer to his or her question is correct, why not go ahead and post another question? It would save time.

Because those who are sure that their answer is correct are not always correct on either count.

The Quiz Room Rules are clear on the point. It has worked well to date and so remains the rule.

Envinyatar 05-03-2005 02:01 AM

So . . . shall I go ahead and pose a question?

NightKnight 05-03-2005 03:51 AM

Yes Envinyatar, please post a new one.

I apologize for misreading what mormegil wrote. My mistake. :o

Envinyatar 05-03-2005 11:26 AM

Who rewards men well for two “wolf-heads”?

mormegil 05-03-2005 11:42 AM

Larncach is the answer.

Envinyatar 05-03-2005 11:46 AM

Indeed!

Carry on . . .

mormegil 05-03-2005 11:53 AM

There is a "great mere" in Nevrast. What was its name? What does it mean?

Lindolirian 05-03-2005 02:45 PM

It's called...

Linaewen which means lake of birds.

Firefoot 05-03-2005 02:46 PM

Linaewen, meaning "Lake of Birds."

Oh, shoot, beaten by a minute!

mormegil 05-03-2005 02:47 PM

Correct and you just beat out Firefoot by one minute.

Good job Firefoot too.

Lindolirian 05-03-2005 02:51 PM

Maybe Firefoot will be speedy enough for this one...

Who was the mentor of the maker of Anduril?

Firefoot 05-03-2005 02:56 PM

Gamil Zirak.

Lindolirian 05-03-2005 03:03 PM

You got it!

Firefoot 05-03-2005 03:32 PM

Thanks.

List all the named people who, before the Fall of Gondolin, were permitted to leave after staying there.

I might be a bit confused but if I understand what you mean I believe the answer is:
Aredhel
Huor
Húrin

but it could also be many nameless mariners and Adedhel companions but I think you just mean those three.

Lindolirian 05-03-2005 04:32 PM

Add Voronwe to that it would be complete. Maeglin also "got out" but wasn't "permitted", so I don't suppose he counts.
