If the writing for the movie is as bad as the text on the website for the film it's going to be horrible......!

Finally: news on this dreadful-looking movie. It seems as though it will be released and that they will be presenting it at the Gathering of the Fellowship in Toronto, Canada. For more information on that, you can go to this thread from the Forum: Gathering of the Fellowship Thread
Oh boy...can't wait for it to be released.

Well, that Ancanar Dude is´ quite a pretty site...
*hits self* Sorry!
Anyways, I came across that site ages ago, and I thought it was just, you know, a bunch of people+a video camera. but it´s REAL!! It´s a REAL movie...well, ok, it´s a real FANFIC as a movie. And it´s like...so wierd. I mean, who gave the rights to publish something like that? The Tolkien Company?

Grr. Please forgive a close-minded mule of a pescimist, but this in no alternate universe will ever be able to measure up to middle-earth, but that doesn't mean I don't respect them for trying. I just won't go see it, that's all.

quote:
Please forgive a close-minded mule of a pescimist, but this in no alternate universe will ever be able to measure up to middle-earth

I agree with you completely. The fact that all the people, including Elves, look as though they just walked out of a Hollywood beauty salon does not say much about the hairstyles. The Elves are not fair enough either. They look like regular humans (and they do not have pointy ears the director pointed out). Even in The Sil, which paints a more down-to-earth picture of the Elves, saying they were warlike and all, also painted a picture of the Elves as beautiful as well. In LTI and II, Tolkien does portray Elves as more normal and even as a bit fat sometimes, but that was in the beginning of the evolution of the concept of "Elves". Elves were originally to be small too, but they were made tall and beautiful later, at the time of the publishing of Lord of the Rings and the writing of The Silmarillion.
[ June 04, 2003: Message edited by: VanimaEdhel ]

You know guys, it just might be possible this movie is good. Just because it takes a different take doesn't make it bad.
When I first heard of this it sounded so much like they were just riding on Jackson's coat tails (and maybe they still are), but when I read that the original concept was to tells Aragorn's story before the events of LotR I thought, that could make a very interesting movie.
Obviously, they couldn't get the rights from New Line and had to change things to avoid litegation but one never knows. I prefer to keep and open mind.
H.C.

AMAZING.(not meant in a positive or negative way) I thought this would have been shut down already since this movie has been in production for a looooooooong time. I'm just curious, I don't know what to expect. I'm not going to have high expectations anyway. However, since their budget seems extremely limited I wish them all the luck.

Maybe I was a bit rude, but this doesn't sound very promising... probably I should be more open-minded, but in my opinion this whole project is an insult. Just copying. If they couldn't get rights from the Tolkien Estate, why don't they just make something of their own?! This half-copy, or disguised copy, is quite disgusting. Anyway, if this comes to Finland, I will go and see it...

That Reminds Me
Off-Topic I suppose but I read in a magazine that theres going to be a fourth movie called The Final Battle if anybody wants the article, let me know. :) Theres also a site but it doesnt work. The magazine, in questions always been pretty reliable but this just makes me wanna stop reading it. I mean they've written pure nonsense.
