*****YEOW*** Maika!!! If i'd ever been seriously tempted to get a tattoo, you'd have cured me of it!<P>But I haven't.<P>But if I was-- "Eru Iluvatar" in Tengwar. Maybe over my heart, or something.

Waenfalathiel 02-10-2003 11:04 PM

I really would like to have a tatoo of the tolkien sign.

doug*platypus 02-11-2003 05:21 AM

<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:<HR> Being tattooed does NOT feel like it's done with a needle, because it moves so fast it works more like a knife and that's the way it feels too. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE><BR>Haha! True, it does feel like someone slicing through your flesh. I'm sure all the needlephobes are <I>very</I> much at ease now!<BR> <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:<HR> as soon as they invent a way of doing tattoos without needles, ill b there! <HR></BLOCKQUOTE><BR>It's already been done. Most traditional tattoos (e.g. Maori, Malay) involve tapping on a sharpened piece of bone. A procedure that would soon have you screaming, "BRING OUT THE NEEDLE!!!"<P>The pain of getting a tattoo is greatly overexaggerated, though.

Naldoriathil 02-11-2003 05:44 AM

I would have the Shards of Narsil put on different place down my right arm! I reckon that would be so very cool!

Maikadilwen 02-11-2003 09:52 AM

<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:<HR> The pain of getting a tattoo is greatly overexaggerated, though. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE><P>Definitely! <BR>The worst part comes after 2 weeks, when the skin grows back on. Oh, the itching! And you KNOW you can't scratch it.

Airerūthiel 02-11-2003 10:25 AM

I'd be really boring and get the '9' on my ankle...or maybe something like Frodo's greeting to the High Elves in FotR, 'Elen sķla lśmenn' omentielvo', on my lower back.<P>I do actually want a little frog tattoo on my left shoulder blade when I'm 18, but a LotR tattoo would still be quite cool

Andephelien 02-11-2003 01:28 PM

The white tree of Gondor, certainly

Hirilaelin 02-11-2003 02:45 PM

If I was to get a tattoo, I think I would get the doors of Moria on my back, because they are absolutely beautiful. Wow, I am suprised, no one thought of this. Cool.<P>[ February 11, 2003: Message edited by: Hirilaelin ]<p>[ February 11, 2003: Message edited by: Hirilaelin ]

Naldoriathil 02-11-2003 03:01 PM

Yeah, and maybe when you turn your back to the moon, it could read an inscription above the door like in FOTR! That would be SO COOL if someone could do that, but that can't, so never mind!

DaughterofVana 02-11-2003 03:16 PM

I first wanted to get a psalm in elvish tattooed on my back (just four lines), but then decided it was too long. I've now decided, when I get the courage, would be a beautiful blue and white star between my shoulder-blades and on my spine (yow!) with the tengwar letter "formen" on the inside of it, which means North. So I never get lost, don't ya know. <P>-'Vana

Coral 02-11-2003 03:16 PM

hmph...I don't care aout your fancy elvish script or...doors? I want a tattoo of that Orc head on the post from the movie!

Keeper of Dol Guldur 02-11-2003 05:19 PM

Let's see, the Eye of Sauron, the star of Feanor, or the dasty moon-skull Morgul Orc motif would all be cool (even though we haven't seen the way that last design will look). No, I think I'll get a tattoo of John Howe's Smaug from "The Death of Smaug." It'll take up my whole back. That's the key.

Vardamar 02-11-2003 08:06 PM

THe white tree of Gondor and the seven stars for me.

Morgul Queen 02-11-2003 09:15 PM

look at my lil picture thing and picture it tattooed on my back...or perhaps I'll be really boring and get the ring inscription tattooed around my belly button (the reason i said I'll get it done is that the day I leave college I plan to get a tattoo done, I got my nose pierced when I left school)

Rynoah, the Overly-Happy 02-12-2003 08:31 AM

I'd get the whole Gondor Crest on my shoulderblade, if I got one at all. I don't like tattooes, though, so I'll probably just buy myself a piece of jewelry... or a horn replica...

Feanor of the Peredhil 02-13-2003 02:28 PM

I think that if I were to get a tattoo, I'd get one spiraling up my ankle of a dragon breathing flames. Or one on the back of my hand of the design on the front of Theoden's halls. I'd definately sketch them out myself though. Or I might get a tat of this drawing I did of a dragon coming out of a volcano. It's kind of a mix between Smaug exiting the Lonely Mountain and Mt. Doom.

luin'loki 02-15-2003 07:01 PM

If the actors r included, I'll get a tattoo of Orlando n Legolas in Algerian font. That would b cool!

Fergo Baggins 02-16-2003 11:33 PM

Not sure what I would get if I did get a LotR-related tat. Something hobbitish I suppose. I have a black and blue triskle on my shoulder, and to me it felt like nothing so much as being scratched really hard with something not terribly sharp. But then I do have a fairly high pain threshold and it seems to be a different experience for everybody.

Elen 02-17-2003 03:28 AM

I'm terrified of needles, but in a drunken state I told my sis, that If I had a tattoo, it would be the One Ring with the Elvish writing on it. I have no idea where it would be done, but that's as far as I got about the whole tattoo thing. She say's it doesn't hurt, but I don't really want to test the theory.

Frodo 007 04-24-2003 12:35 AM

I would get the Elvish writing which is on the One Ring around my upper arm!!!Im gonna get that done one day!!!

Ainaserkewen 04-24-2003 04:20 PM

I would get something like my name(either in elvish or english whichever looked cooler) probably. But my volleyball team number is 9, I could do that,<BR>or...<BR>I'd get a really powerful message in elvish across my lower back.<BR>Wait a minute!<BR>I'm a wimp and would never have the guts to endure the sheer pain of a tatoo!!!<BR>I'll just stick to temporary thank you.

The Only Real Estel 04-25-2003 06:41 PM

The whole 'One Ring' poem would be sweet, but I don't know were it would fit (visibly).<BR>I'd probably settle for the One Ring in a flame with the elvish writeing on it. But sting on my left bicep would be cool to, or maybe Gimli's double headed axe on my right bicep. I had another really good idea, but I forgot it.

Talon Stormcrow 04-27-2003 11:36 AM

If I were to get a tatoo, which I highly doubt, I would get the white tree of Gondor on my ankle or two swords crossed on a sheild on my shoulder. But then again since its permanent I would change my mind many times before I get it.

One Axe to Rule them All 04-27-2003 07:57 PM

I'd get sauron's helmet from the movie on my left bicep, that would be cool

Morgul Queen 04-27-2003 10:13 PM

I AM getting the white tree of Gondor on my ankle! <BR>Its my 15th birthday present to myself!

elfling 04-30-2003 08:20 PM

Cool topic. I have been thinking of this alot and you guys have had some great ideas. I really like the tree of Gondor, leaf broach and Arwens pendent. I'll look for some pics. Thanks for all the ideas.

Rindoien, elf of Lothlorien 05-01-2003 06:29 AM

The elvish nine Or the picture of Smaug on my edition of 'The Hobbit'

Peri 05-01-2003 10:37 AM

I've really been considering getting a tattoo of some kind of vine design around my upper arm, something very elvish looking. It's very posssible that I may get this done, so if I do, I'll make sure to take a pic and post it here.

Luinalatawen 05-03-2003 03:23 PM

Peri, that sounds great! I'd love to see it. Vines <I>are</I> very Elvish.

ElenCala Isil 05-03-2003 09:53 PM

I'd probably get an elvish number or my initials (in elvish)... if i were ever to get a tattoo that is

Peri 05-05-2003 02:15 PM

Thanks, Luinalatawen. Btw, I love your signature! lol

Luinalatawen 05-05-2003 04:03 PM

Why, thank you Peri.

Alatįriėl Lossėhelin 05-05-2003 10:40 PM

I've never had any desire for a tatoo, but <B>IF</B> I ever did, it would probably be Tengwar for "Frodo" or my own Elvish name.<P> <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:<HR>I'm also thinking about painting the entrance to Moria on the other side of my door.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE><P><B>Pookabunny:</B> What a great idea! Would you use reflective-type paint or just white?

The Only Real Estel 05-13-2003 11:02 AM

Maybe I'll go for the One Ring poem all the way down my arm, or maybe just on my abs (wherever It'll fit better I guess )...

Balin999 05-19-2003 09:46 AM

The elvish G or Sauron's eye would be VERY good, but then it would also be great to have the inscription of the ring round about my left arm now that would be great. Such words of power across my arm, I would smash anything with it <BR>Well, wait, the curses of power were inscripted on Grond. hmmm...

dunadan_aragorn 05-20-2003 09:05 AM

Quoth the Raven<BR>I would probably get the word <I>Spirit</I>in elvish, or maybe in Daeron's Runes. Not sure, as I would never get a tatoo.<BR>Nevermore

Oricon Ancalime 06-04-2003 03:14 PM

I might get the Tengwar symbol for 'k' someplace... the word associated with 'k' is 'quesse' which is Quenya for Feather, which is my nickname anyway. And I've already got a tattoo of a feather on my left shoulder, so I'd match <P>Huzzah!

evilgypsies 06-07-2003 05:48 PM

IT WOULDNT NECESSARILY BE LORD OF THE RINGSISH BUT ID PROBABLY GET THE CARTOON VERSION OF BILBO ON MY ANKLE

barandilwen 06-07-2003 11:32 PM

i'd probably get something related to the elves because they're quite cool! or tolkeins sign... and i think i'll be placing it in my inner wrist!

mordor136 06-08-2003 02:32 AM

Definatley the white tree of gondor. However I once saw a guy with the ring inscription going around his arm i asked him about it and he said "It just looks cool." Figures.
