My Mrs thinks Aragorn looks just like the description in the books (I read FOTR to her last year, will pickup TT this year.)<P>She already had a crush on Aragorn.<P>Now she wants me to take her to the theatre AGAIN to see the movie. She NEVER sees a movie in the theatre twice. I know what (who) she REALLY wants to see! <P><BR>(P.S. Rosie is a cutie-pie! Pass it on!)

Snowflake 01-04-2002 09:38 AM

I can understand why some people would find them attractive. I myself thought 2 of the actors were very cute. I just don't talk about these things. (I went to see the movie with my dad. I'm sure he'd love to hear me talk about how cute they were all the way home. 45 minutes.) It's okay to think they're cute or whatever, but that isn't the point of the movie, and making it into one of the major points is silly.

Lush 01-04-2002 02:46 PM

Yes, sweetie, but the "cuteness" of the actors is, sadly, what makes a movie more successful at the box office. Some people out there will go to see the movie not because they want to have a great cinematic experience, but because "Liv Tyler is hot," or "Viggo Mortensen is the sexiest man ever," or "Elijah is soooo cute!"<BR>Does anyone really think that <I>Titanic</I> would have broken the box office record if it wasn't for all those obsessive little girls who came again and again to devour Leo with their eyes?<BR>Since I loved the film adaptation of LotR, I don't mind the fact that people do this. And if one of those that comes and sees it only for the eye-candy leaves with a genuine interest in Tolkien, well, it's all worth it!

Rose Cotton 01-04-2002 06:45 PM

There are people who go to the movies for the movies and not the actors.

elf_princess2002 01-10-2002 05:06 AM

I originally went to the movie for the movie. I first had the Hobbit and LOTR trilogy read to me by an older sister when I was 5 years old. I then read it again when I was older. Let's just say all the books are so old and worn now that I have to buy a new set for all the pages are falling out of the binding. I definitely went to the movie for the story line. BUT....now I have to admit that Jackson cast a very sexy cast. All the hobbits are ao adorable that they beat out N'Sync in charm. Legolas and Aragorn are total babes too. So now when I go see the movie, it's for the story as well as the drool factor. Face it, they are hotties.

Gwaihir the Windlord 01-10-2002 06:40 AM

You do know that since the movie, Orlando bloom has aquired a rather good mohawk? Still like him now, huh? What's he got that I don't, apart from a bow, <I>and</I> Ive got feathers.

As for Orlando Bloom, I watched him on Live with Regis & Kathie Lee, and I must admit, I think it's the accent that truly does it. That, and the way he...Nevermind, my maturity level is dropping rapidly now, and you all don't want to be exposed to what lies beneath the facade of my composure!

And I agree completely. I saw it once just for a friend who needed an excuse to see it for a fourth time. Leo this Leo that AUGH.<P>Now, this same friend and I saw the movie together twice and we agree on the same thing: The Hobbits are just too darn huggable to thought of as sexy!! All we want to do is pick up Pippin and huggle the Hobbit all day. Sooo adorable.<P>Now, for Legolas... I love the actor for his talent alone. Guildhall is extremely difficult to get into and he made it. As for the character.. what an ideal Elf! Those eyes, that snow walking, that bow! I'm stopping, I'm stopping! I swear it!<P>LotR and sex: It existed. It had to. People had children, races continued. Its there, just unmentioned, undetailed. (btw, I like "that sort of love". Its fun even without the carnal aspects)<P>As for this Hobbit Hottie thing...oh dear. Yes the actors are attractive..but..but.. In the context of Hobbits?? *wails*<P> Well it was bound to happen. Ick.<P>Lush, I may go and visit that site of yours. I have fallen victim to Legolas mania, I just try not to lose it. Especially in the theatre with me boyfriend. Not pretty.

Eowyn of Ithilien 01-11-2002 04:10 AM

hobbit sex symbols??? elvish sex symbols...two of my friends just adore Orlando Bloom (oops Legolas-ha!) they're now reading the books, and I won't tell Leesa whether Legolas remains single

Elrian 01-11-2002 04:12 AM

How cruel! Unfortunately the books never said one way or the other if there was a Mrs. Legolas.

Sindalómiel 01-11-2002 04:13 AM

I haven't finished reading the books yet either (am up to Treebeard). Legolas doesn't die does he?

Lush 01-11-2002 11:35 PM

Of course Legolas doesn't die! He marries me; we live in Mirkwood, and raise eight blond children together.<BR>Telegaladiel-You think seeing the movie with your boyfriend is bad? Try seeing it with your father!<BR>Gwaihir-All right, it's true, we are not well-behaved at all. But we are intelligent, and sadly, not very numerous. That's why new converts are needed, *elbows Telegaladiel*.

Starskin 01-12-2002 01:18 AM

I must say that this is all very amusing at 2 am. I can understand where all this lust is comming from, Tolkien created fantsay characters of which we see nothing in real life. Honnestly, what woman doesn't have fantasies about white knights etc. Orlando Bloom as Legolas and Elijah Wood as froodo etc are just living images of those same fantasies. it's inevidable, i have seen girls go crazy over the kid who plays harry potter and believe me, that would be seriously illegal. lol, vomit and all its what happens. so sit back and laugh at the hystical antics

Elrian 01-12-2002 01:57 AM

Potter's a hottie? For Real? I'm glad there are so many Legolas and Hobbit fans in here. I get to have Elrond all to myself . Thanks Ladies !<P> <p>[ January 12, 2002: Message edited by: Elrian ]

Can I share Elrond with you please? Legolas is very pretty, but sadly rather too young for me. Now Elrond is for grown-ups

I have to admit that when I saw the movie I noticed Legolas straight away and then went to see the movie for the second time because of him. <P>But I did like the movie alot and inspired me to read the books which I can't beleive I didn't do earlier because they are so good.<P>As to the Hobbit hottie thing and sex in Middle Earth I don't think that the Hobbit Hottie was referring to sex in any way. Just because they appeal to many girls doesn't mean they are thinking of them in that way. Just that they are cute and make the movie better than if it were filled with ugly people who people cringe to watch (although it would be extremely hard to make the movie look bad).

Fembot 01-15-2002 12:23 AM

Hello, i'm new here...<P>Looking at this thread and supprised noone has mentioned Boromir. Legalos was okay, but Boromir is very manly...

Rinberethial Bloom 01-15-2002 04:25 AM

He's abit old for my liking

Snowflake 01-15-2002 02:01 PM

If I thought that way, I couldn't like anyone! (I'm 13......)

Lush 01-15-2002 04:25 PM

Boromir was <I>very</I> manly, as was the sublime (*wink wink*) Mr. Aragorn, but Legolas was the complete package. He had the sweetness and the grace, as well as the steely resolve and dead aim of a warrior elf. What could be better than that? Absolutely nothing.<BR>...Well, it would be better if he was here right now.

Nazgul 01-17-2002 06:17 PM

Somebody took her viagra this mornig

Lush 01-17-2002 08:06 PM

Everyone needs an obsession-mine is Legolas. It's better than heroin, right?

Rinberethial Bloom 01-17-2002 09:03 PM

Right, whatever works for you!

zifnab 01-17-2002 09:41 PM

I think I should have got in the Acting Buisness!

I could happily swoon all day over Orlando Bloom I just figured the people in here are too learned to stoop to such things :P

Rinberethial Bloom 01-18-2002 07:13 AM

well seeing as your from Australia like me I guess you didn't get any of the interviews on all the talk shows with him either. SIGH. Ah well our turn will come.

Lush 01-19-2002 11:40 PM

There is nothing lowly or classless about swooning as long as it is done in an original manner. You can bore everyone to tears by using bad grammar, and saying stuff like, "oh MY GOSH, Legolas is, like, SOOO FREAKIN' HOT! Hubba hubba!"<BR>...Or you can say, "But only to feel his steady archer's gaze upon the back of my exposed neck!"<BR>It all comes down to eloquence. Well, and a sense of humor too. I mean, it's pretty funny to be gaga over a bratty, bungee-jumping Brit (nice use of alliteration, eh? And I mean "bratty" in the best possible way); it's even funnier to be gaga over a non-existent ELF with flowing blond hair. I can just imagine him getting the tangles out in between shooting down orcs.

Eowyn of Ithilien 01-20-2002 12:23 AM

Aragorn's cute-too old-but cute<BR>Legolas's just a pretty boy..... :X!

Daisy Sandybanks 01-20-2002 02:32 AM

I actually went to see the movie for the movie its self, I love action movies, but after the movie was over I do think I felt somthing for the actor that played Frodo unfortunatly. But after I saw the movie I dedicated myself to reading the books and thus became even more in love with the character Frodo(even the character Sam too) and lost intrest with the actor E. Wood. Before I even saw the movie, I didn't want to see it because it had certian actor and actresses in it, I didn't even know who most of the actors or actresses were, I went to see the movie for its qualities and effects(I love that stuff about movies).<BR>And seeing girls drooling over the fact that Legolas or the actor Orlando Bloom who played him is "such a cuttie" makes me sick, since I do have to go through that every single day because I have a friend who is madly obsessed with N'sync.<BR>But, its just revolting. In my opinion at least...

Daisy Sandybanks 01-20-2002 02:36 AM

By the way, anyone like my pic. ?? <BR><~~~~~~<BR>I drew myself, you probley can't see it that well but if you would like to see this pic. or any of the other pics that I drew feel free to email me at SSurferchic14@aol.com<P>Thankyou!

Rinberethial Bloom 01-20-2002 04:30 AM

I think it has alot to do with who the actor played as to whether people will find them hot or not. If Bloom had played anyone else but Legolas then I doubt so many people would like him so much. Same goes for Elijah and all the rest.<P>I read the books after i saw the movie and really loved Sam in the books and when I saw the movie again I thought he was cuter than the last time because I knew more about his character.

Elven-Maiden 01-20-2002 01:49 PM

Gosh that's disturbing! What will people come up with next!

Estelyn Telcontar 01-21-2002 04:18 AM

Rinberethial, I agree, it's the characters, not just the actors. Here's my two cents:<BR>Orlando Bloom - nah; Legolas - cute!<BR>Elijah Wood - cute; Frodo - love at first sight (those BIG eyes!)<BR>Viggo Mortensen - good looking, but... (saw him in "28 Days") - it's as Aragorn that he looks really good!!

Gayalondiel 01-21-2002 04:36 AM

sorry i'm joining late...<P>I agree with that as well, I know several people who haven't read the books and they didn't find Legolas nearly as attractive as my personal selection of fanatics. Everyone went for Aragorn though...<P>On the other hand, my best friend and i are listening to the radio 4 series re-runs. We're only at Weathertop and she's already fallen in love with Strider, having never seen any pictures of the film.
