Maybe we could have a barfight or something. But we would need a reason. Perhaps a bet fight with someone. A character with an overblown ego (*looks the other way*) could bet that he could beat someone and then after he does, the other person refuses to pay up or something. Our gaming comes with a cost; it is time to reflect on this fact and make some changes to how we run our games.

We RPGers are the most voracious consumers of Barrow Downs resources. We use a game thread, a discussion thread, PMs to plan games, and are constant visitors to the site, often returning more than two or three times a day to keep up with developments in the game in order to prepare our own posts.

Why is this a drain on BD resources? Please take some time to read carefully and reflect seriously upon the Barrow Wight's recent posts in the "Announcements >> The Barrow Downs" forum concerning storage space and bandwidth, chat and discussion, and the costs of running the site, and then change your posting habits.

What are the most beneficial changes in our posting habits? For one, we need to stop using the discussion threads for idle banter, for personal comment. We must restrict our posts to discussion of the games only, that is, to issues of plotting, character interaction, clarification, and notification of absences. For most occasions, we don't need to make multiple posts about why we are absent or how we are doing and we don't need to make a string of 'see ya' posts in reply. For personal comments, we can use the chat room or PMs. A discussion thread that is far longer than a game thread is often a signal of a misuse of the discussion thread.

Please take the time to do several things: Delete posts or run of the mill comments in the discussion thread that have no bearing on the game. Refrain from such posts and comments in future discussions of the games. Limit your daily visits to the thread.

If we all help out, we can ensure that our games remain treasures in the Barrow Downs.

Folks-

First, some news on the projected future of this RPG:

I will be attending a summer pre-college course at Johns Hopkins University this summer. That basically means I will be away between June 28th and August 2nd. While I may have (occasional) internet access, I probably will have trouble posting consistently.

As such, I’m going to be somewhat shortening the storyline and the plot. We’ll be staying in the inn for the next two or three real life days making plans and eating before getting on our way. Another quick journey down the road and we’ll arrive at a military checkpoint where we’ll spend a (cramped) night. Hopefully, we’ll be in Arbrook by the beginning of June. We’ll be spending much more time in the last town. Hopefully, investigation and meeting the townsfolk will be done by middle of June, and the dirty work done by end of June.

Second, I’ll have my next post for our group up tonight or tomorrow, and the first post introducing the antagonist by Tuesday.

Eorlyn has just asked Rhys what the Order is 'all about'.

Would the characters playing rangers already know that the Order is actually a front for Intelligence collection? Or should Rhys just tell her the false image of a religious order?

The Rangers have probably heard rumors about the Order's activities. Most rumors would probably involve a sighting of a large number of knights at a time. (For example: A column of knights riding past sentries in the middle of the night and returning with hooded prisoners.) The older Rangers would probably know that the Order seems largly ceremonial, though columns of knights sometimes launch quick raids across the river. The Order's inteligance gathering activities are very well hidden, though it sometimes shows some interest in capturing orcish officers.

I've been having a rough time for the last few weeks. One of my relatives is sick and I've been having some family problems. I'm sorry about the trouble my abscence has caused. I have been unable to give the games I'm in proper attention.

I regret to say that I will be withdrawing from all the RPs I am currently participating in. Maybe I'll return at a later date, but I will probably be leaving for the summer.

I will post at a later date on the future of this RP after I have discussed the matter with Bethberry.
