I have a new one! (I've been on an internetless vacation for the past 2 weeks & I missed the Downs so much ) Anyway, you could get a little pink sportscar that says NAZGIRL. If any of you haven't read the Nazgirls story, you should, because it's hysterical! It's somewhere on the forum, but I don't remember where *apologizes profusely*

Snowdog 08-27-2003 06:41 PM

I have seen in the state of Washington:
HOBBIT
ONERING
ARAGORN
GONDOR
EOWYN
ARWNS74
(On a powder blue 1974 Dodge Charger)

Brinniel 08-27-2003 09:39 PM

I swear I saw a red van/truck (whatever you'd like to call it) with the license plate ROHAN. It drove off before I could take a good look at it, though.

Elróthiel 09-07-2003 09:24 AM

OK. Me being in England, we have REALLY weird licence plates.
The old ones go: Letter-1 to 3 numbers-3 or 4 letters.

The new ones go: 2 letters-2 numbers-3 letters.

England sucks. The best LotR ones we could possibly get would be things like:
M001 ERTH (MDDL=M001)
L390 LAS
E1 VES
E1 VISH
E1 VEN
H08 BIT
H4 LDIR
H41 DIR
S4 URON
M4 NWE
M31 KOR
M3 LKOR
B1 LBO
B499 INS
F3 RNY
R1 NGS
L07 RFRK (LotR Freak)
G341 HIR (Gwaihir)
B47 ROG (Balrog)

And those are just the old ones! Wow! I can get quite a good selection out of these! I didn't realize until I started thinking!
Here are some new ones!
BR30 WNS (Barrow Downs)
MD01 RTH (Middle-earth)
LE90 LAS (Pretty obvious!)
HO88 ITS
BA99 INS
OT79 RNG (O-One, T-Three. 7 and 9 Rings)
ME11 RYN
LF91 RLY (Elf Girly)
SM34 GOL
TH30 DEN
BO90 MIR
FA94 MIR
AR49 ORN
IS17 DUR
MA11 ORN
PA14 NTR (Palantir)
HY91 ENE (Something Aragorn doesn't know about! Only Internet Tolkies would get this)
LU14 IEN
EL35 SAR
ST91 DER (9 is R)
LO79 FRK (LotR Freak)
SH40 WFX (Shadowfax)
BA79 OGS (Balrogs)
HL35 DEP (HLMS DEP) (Helms Deep)
RI29 RTH (Ringwraith)(2 is N)
NA29 IRL (Nazgirl) (2 is Z)
IH89 WEN (I hate Arwen)
MA91 SUE (Nehawahaa! Mari Sue!) (no number for Y)
GA91 STU (Gari Stu!)
(For the above 2: I'd love to see these together in a driveway! I'd laugh so much!)
ON39 ING (One Ring)
RV32 DLL (Rivendell)
RN75 GLN (Eryn Lasgalen)

There are so many more, but I don't have time to think them up and put them here, so buh bye!
Namárie!

Ainaserkewen 09-10-2003 05:31 PM

I've posted this before, but I once saw a Canadian Liscence plate ONE-973
The numbers of course refer to the rings of power. I thought that was pretty cool.

The Only Real Estel 09-10-2003 06:51 PM

I'd say mine would be one of these:

*Aragorn

*Estel

*Boromir

Or I might have the front plate & back plate personalized & have them say:

(front) Smeagol

(back) Gollum

Who knows? It'll be a while...

P.S. I could go for cptsprw

Azaelia of Willowbottom 09-13-2003 03:44 PM

I'll go for "HO881T" (Hobbit)

Or "FR0D0LVS" If theres room, if there's not, it will be "FR0-LVS"

Orominuialwen 09-22-2003 04:02 PM

I saw (yet another) license plate that said ERU on it. This makes a total of about five.

As for me, I have four cars and sadly none of them have Tolkien-related plates.
Four cars??????????? Woah!

Hey there, fellow Englander...what on earth were you complaining for? Look how many you came up with!!! I particularly like the LE90-LAS one!!! But IP'm afraid I can't think of any more...

You know, I have seen a couple with ENT as the last three letters!

Aduyuldaiel-MirkwoodPrincess 09-23-2003 11:56 AM

i had to do somthin similar to this for a class i was taking and it took me forever to think of one...but im not bright enough to think one but the ones yall thought up were really good

Finwe 09-23-2003 09:05 PM

I want to get a jet-black Hummer (not the jeep, the big blocky 5-seater) and put "NAZGUL5" on the license plates, just because of the Cassie Claire diary.

Holbytlass 09-24-2003 11:11 AM

In Virgina, I did see a Bilbo plate.
I'd definitley first go with my name..Hobtlas.
I love the Smeagol/Gollum idea, very clever.

Nimrothiel 01-08-2004 06:10 PM

I'd have to choose from:

379-ONE (on a black car)
SMEAGOL (on a dark grey or green car)
RVNDELL (on a green or royal blue car)
FARAMIR (on a silver car)
MNSTRTH (on a white car)
GRNLEAF (on a green car)
ARAGORN (on a gold car)
ANDURIL (on a silver car w/blue flames)
GANDALF (on a grey car)
WHTFOAM (on a white car; happens to be the meaning of my screen name)

Here's a special one for Meela:

FLMGIRL

Everdawn 01-11-2004 12:21 AM

A tribute to the NazGirls!

NAZ-GRL.

I dont know if anyone has already done that but, i just thought it would be nice.

Orominuialwen 01-16-2004 10:24 PM

I saw within the last couple of weeks a license plate that said MERRY on it. If only the same person had another car who's plates said PIPPIN!

Firefoot 01-18-2004 07:23 PM

Liscense Plates! Cool! I love those, but I can't say I've seen any LotR ones. Mine would probably either be FIREFOT or FRODOLVS or something shortened for Frodo lives. Noro lim, that would be cool. Gollum/Smeagol is a good idea too.

Vuelve 01-28-2004 07:46 PM

Me and my friend came up with these.

-DOTHWAV-Do the wave!!!
-DSCOKNG-For Boromir the Disco King!!!(yeah I know,Oldie but still a goodie. )
-FLYUFLS-Fly You Fools.
-WCHKNG-Witch King
-EYECYOU-Eye See You(for Sauron)
-FISSSHY-Self Explanatory

Black and green on my computer screen,
Vuelve

Kransha 01-28-2004 08:04 PM

-PRCIOUS (Precious)
-DWMRLAK (Dwimmerlaik)
-NINYHMR (Ninnyhammer)
-BRD-DUR (Barad-dur
-SARUMAN

Also, a nice bumper sticker or two
-"I brake for balrogs"
-"Proud parent of a barrow-wight"

Finwe 02-02-2004 10:18 PM

Haha! "I brake for Balrogs" is a great bumper sticker!

If I get a car any time soon, and if my parents let me put vanity plates on it, I might put:

FINWETK

(Finwe The King or Finwe The Kitten, which, incidentally, is my AIM screen name)

samwise_gamgee_4eva 02-02-2004 11:35 PM

If I could have a lotr number plate i would have hmmmmm let me think

lotrlvr

or

samlvr

Kransha 02-03-2004 07:44 AM

Well, go for obscurity..

-MELKOR
-MORGOTH
-EOMER
-EOWYN
-SAMWISE
-PIPPIN
-MERRY
-FRODO
-BILBO
-SAURON
-RNGWRTH
-KHAMUL
-DNTHOR
-FRMIR
-BRMIR

Wow, that's a lot that work. I'd better see someone adopt on of those. Next task: See how many names of Middle-Earth places or people are seven figures long or less.

Orominuialwen 08-07-2005 12:58 PM

Wow this is an old thread. The seventh post I made on the 'Downs is here. It doesn't seem that long ago...

Anyway, enough reminiscing. I went to a sort of last-day-in-an-apartment-with-a-really-great-view party yesterday evening given by a friend from church. When we got there, lo and behold, parked right behind our car on the street was a light blue BMW with the license plate GLDRIEL! I borrowed a digital camera from the hostess and took a picture of the liscence plate, but I don't have it to postat the moment, as the friend whose camera it was is now busy moving, and after that is going to World Youth Day in Germany, so she won't have time to send it to me for a while.

Valesse 08-07-2005 07:06 PM

I can't help but make the pun: "CAR-WEN", be it actually C4R-WEN, CAR-W3N, or and unfortunate mix of the two.

I wouldn't mind "ILUVTR" either, really.

brim 08-21-2005 04:46 PM

Ha I have a few

SHADOFX
or maybe JRRT0Lk

Valesse 09-16-2005 07:02 PM

bumper sticker

It may not be a plate, but I saw a bumper sticker just today at Barnes and Nobles which read "Fordo Failed! Bush has the Ring."

I know it's political (and that isn't very well welcomed here in the 'downs), but you can kind of apply that phrase in several ways. None-the-less it gave me a good laugh.

Gurthang 09-17-2005 12:30 AM

Wow, that's a funny picture. (And that coming from a Bush supporter(me) no less!)

Now, here's something that I was really excited about. I just got my new license plate a couple days ago. And it is: WLF 936!

I was like 'SWEET'! My tag says Wolf! That is just too cool!

Yet, if I could have a custom tag I'd probably put:

BLKSWRD
PIPPIN
THEONE
ISTARI
MT DOOM

GhastlyInnocence 09-27-2005 07:07 AM

Mine would probably be something along the lines of "4 Ents".

Well, I finally got sent the picture the other day, so I'll post it now for your viewing pleasure.

Holbytlass 01-03-2006 09:58 PM

Valesse, I saw that bumper sticker in my parts, too. It made me chuckle!
I also saw a tag-ISTARI.
