I like Bethberry and Burrahobbit.

Probably the result of too many postings!
Is there such a thing?

I like burrahobbit a lot too.

Greycloak 01-16-2003 10:16 PM

I think Lathspell is very original.

HerenIstarion 01-17-2003 04:21 AM

Since the Board is Tolkien dedicated, I'd be glad to nominate ppl with elvish names (as well as second all listed above) (and not randomly generated by software of some sort, but those bearing some meaning) Here it goes:

Mithadan (Grey Man)

Durelen (Dark Star)

Eruhen (God Child)

lindil (Lover of Song)

Aiwendil (Lover of small birds)

Alkanoonion (The Glorious One (?))

latando angaina (One who opens [iron] Gate)

(and don't tell me that the latter one is because I was using this account myself at a time - the choice of the name was unaffected by me, even though it was I who lured the owner into BD)

The owners of the nicks listed will of course excuse my crude translations (and revelation of their meaning, otherwise obscure to commoners ) and make required alterations (if any)

Apart from above category I would be glad to nominate Saulotus, obviously meaningful name meaning of which is obscure to anyone expect the bearer

and selfsame

Bob Wehadababyitsaboy

just because

in addition to Mr.Underhill (my compliments)

there are tons of others worth nominating, but that's all I can recall at one go. I'll come in later if ... etc etc

Sincerely,

LePetitChoux 01-17-2003 12:43 PM

Two people voted for me! Wow! don't know what to say!
I'll vote: I love Orli Bloom...so creative and original.

And, on a more serious note, I like burrahobbit, and Alkanoonion. They have nice Rings to them (haha, get it? Nice rings on a Tolkien site? Oh, forget it)

I like so many names, it's hard to remember them all!

Lush 01-17-2003 02:10 PM

A definite new entry:

propagandalf.

I have no idea who this person is, but they're funeee!!!

Ooh la, look here, 3 Russian-speakers (including myself) have just posted on this thread in a row. Coincidence? I think not. *wiggles eyebrow*

HerenIstarion 01-18-2003 03:07 AM

propagandalf

seconded

LePetitChoux 01-18-2003 05:38 AM

How could I forget Rimbaud?

I love that word, but sadly have no idea what it means, orwhat a Rimbaud is...

vanwalossien 01-18-2003 08:33 AM

propagandalf Why can't I think of things like that when I create nicks? My nomination is (in addition to Maril, for beautiful simplicity) Samwise. Not the most original nick perhaps, but is there a nick better fit to describe her?

I suspect it has to do with the wonderful French poet, Arthur Rimbaud.

propagandalf 01-18-2003 06:37 PM

well this is a shocker

ermm.. yes, i'm a 'new entry' here.. somewhat freaked out .. but thanks.
(yoo lot made me spill food on my keyboard)

yoo would forgive me if i make my nomination later as i haven't acquainted myself with the other usernames as of yet.

Lush 01-19-2003 03:50 PM

I would like to nominate the newly-deceased Moonpie. Tasty nick.

The Saucepan Man 01-19-2003 09:46 PM

Can we vote for more than one?

If so, a fourth vote from me for propagandalf

... and a second vote for Moonpie (but, I might just be biased ...)

The Green Ringwraith 01-19-2003 10:04 PM

Skippy the Nazgul sounds pretty kewl!

Susan Delgado 01-20-2003 03:16 AM

Has anyone nominated The Lorien Wanderer yet? If not, I will.

Aylwen Dreamsong 01-20-2003 04:24 PM

What about ShootingStar? He/She is new, but I still think it's a pretty name.

Aylwen

GreatWarg 01-20-2003 04:37 PM

I have always considered The Green Ringwraith rather creative, if I do say so myself. Also Birdland; a nick that just sticks, somehow.

Susan Delgado 01-20-2003 06:27 PM

Welcome Back, GW
I also considered The Green Ringwraith

Gayahithwen 01-22-2003 04:48 AM

I love the name Marileangorifurnimaluim , even though it is HARD to spell right.
Apart from that.. LePetitChoux always made me smile.. and, I've got to vote for burrahobbit as well - seeing as I'm a generally big fan of him.

Rimbaud 01-22-2003 09:52 AM

Thank you for the nomination. You can find out about my namesake here.

mark12_30 01-22-2003 10:08 AM

I'd like to second "Child of the Seventh Age", for numerous reasons: for one, it's the only nick that sent me to the letters to research its meaning; it also inspired chapters of fanfiction; and it's the most wistful homage to Tolkien's mythos that I've seen.

And she (the seventh age hobbit) is pretty cool, too.

burrahobbit 01-22-2003 01:35 PM

Not enough people picked me.

I considered nominating The Barrow-Wight, but I feared the red lipstick marks on his bum might cause him trouble at home.
Sweet Maril.

Maril gets my vote as well, even if I still have trouble saying it. Down, you pesky trout, shouldnt be flying around, down...

Littlemanpoet, after I read Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry, this has always reminded of the sweetest character.

Suicidal elf chick.
Nicktheorc.
Regis- a new member, but with such a regal name.

A dull name from the Archers corner. Ho hum.

I have quite a few favourite PTs though.

Well, make your map, Burrahobbit, and maybe we'll consider it. quid pro quo.

Thank you for your vote. Great Warg. I myself always kind of liked Kettle of Fish. A name that actually makes about as much sense as mine, but has an oddly Tolkienque ring to it.

burrahobbit 01-23-2003 02:23 AM

I BEEN BUSY JEEZE CUT ME SOME SLACK.

Birdland 01-23-2003 02:41 AM

"Busy"? No excuse! Obviously someone is not a true fanboy.

burrahobbit 01-23-2003 02:47 AM

I could have told you that years ago.

Amanaduial the archer 01-23-2003 03:34 PM

Did you know her years ago? Sorry, being difficult.

Actually, Birdland gets a vote here. Its a great piece of music.
And I didnt see Propagandaplh before, so hes in there as well.

burrahobbit 01-23-2003 04:13 PM

No, but that isn't the point. I could have told BW that I'm not a very good fanboy.

Amanaduial the archer 01-24-2003 01:23 PM

Sorry burrahobbit.

Galadrie1 01-24-2003 05:52 PM

I really like Anything but Arwen and, of course, propagandalf.

hobbitlass 01-28-2003 10:25 PM

I put in a vote for HerenIstarion. I had mentioned on another thread how I like to say it out loud cause it just rolls off the tongue. And sorry in advance if I spelled it wrong, I do have a tendency.

Diamond18 01-28-2003 10:34 PM

the guy who be short made me laugh right out loud.

HerenIstarion 01-29-2003 12:21 AM

thanks, hobbitlass . And yes, you did spell it right

Inderjit Sanghera 01-29-2003 08:37 AM

I think Inderjit Sanghera should be nominated, even though it is my real name.

Diamond18 01-29-2003 11:11 AM

So in other words, you're nominating your parents for outstanding naming ability?

Oh, and you were nominated, by Merri.

Elanor 01-29-2003 01:21 PM

There are too many great names to pick a best one, but I like HerenIstarion, burrahobbit, propagandalf, Lush, red, Sharku, Mithadan... I could go on (and on).

Elanor 01-29-2003 01:23 PM

Oh, and I like hobbitlass too, it sounds like Holbytla, as well as having a meaning in English.

Elanor 01-29-2003 01:29 PM

I like Alkanoonion as well. Though I always think of it as Alkano Onion, and something tells me he didn't mean it that way

[ January 29, 2003: Message edited by: Elanor ]

*Varda* 01-29-2003 01:59 PM

Gah! I'll never be able to look at Alkanoonion's name in the same way again!

I like Bethberry, and Child of the Seventh Age.

Saucepan Man - why did you decide to name yourself that? The name rings a bell...
