Your turn... Good to see a new face in this thread

Lostgaeriel 11-19-2001 12:20 AM

OK. Who said this to whom? And what were the circumstances?

Aragorn...ugh mental blank :/ don't remember to whom...or even if it's Aragorn

Pippin 11-19-2001 08:47 AM

hello all, can I play? (shudders as memories of cruel children during break when I was a childe....tee hee)
Right, ere' ya go.

"and me!"

Pippin 11-19-2001 08:49 AM

oh, my dumbass computer sent my entry to the wrong page. ahem...

"and me!"

Pippin 11-19-2001 08:52 AM

...ok, NOW I understand what's going on, I was looking at the wrong page. when you've done with Lostgariel's quote (and i think it was Aragorn come to think of it...) then have a bash at mine....

The Laurenendorian 11-19-2001 02:51 PM

Lostgaeriel's, I believe, is Thorin. This is the morning after Bard has been given the Arkenstone, and he asks Thorin if he is of the same mind.

Pippin's certainly sounds like a Bilbo thing to say (can you picture one of the dwarves saying it?), but I can't think exactly where. Are we allowed to use the books?

The Laurenendorian: It WAS actually a dwarf...
use a book if you want, i don't mind. it'll take you a while to find though, it's in an unlikely place.

Lostgaeriel 11-20-2001 08:03 PM

The Laurenendorian has answered my quote correctly. It was indeed Thorin speaking to Bard as Bard comes to bargain the Arkenstone for gold. (The Clouds Burst)

So it's The Laurenendorian's turn to pose us a quote. But I guess we've got to answer Pippin's as well.

Pippin 11-21-2001 07:42 AM

Sorry I was on the other page when I posed it...there seemed to be an opening. I promise I'll wait my turn next time!

The Laurenendorian 11-21-2001 12:20 PM

I'm really confused.

I'm sure I replied to this yesterday, guessing that Bombur (when they come to Beorn's house) was the answer to Pippin's...

----

If I'm right about that, try this one:

-"Why, O why did I ever bring a wretched little hobbit on a treasure hunt?"

Pippin 11-22-2001 07:24 AM

Right you are!
like I said, double pages are confusing...I keep replying to questions that have been continued on other pages and find my answer posted somewhere else....

was it Thorin when Bilbo admits to giving away the Arkenstone?

The Laurenendorian 11-22-2001 07:38 AM

'fraid not, young Took.

Carry on guessing.

Pippin 11-23-2001 04:54 AM

Thorin when they realise they have left the burglar behind in the goblin caves? It sounds like a Thorin thing to say...

Yay! I'm an animated skeleton already!

HerenIstarion 11-23-2001 02:00 PM

nay , that's Dori carrying Bolbo along while goblin hunt was on their heels

The Laurenendorian 11-24-2001 04:33 AM

All wrong, but Heren Istarion comes closer than most.

Please continue.

Pippin 11-27-2001 04:19 AM

so it was Dori?
Oooh, was it when he has to climb out of the tree and help Bilbo up when they are surrounded by Wargs?

Turambar 11-27-2001 05:46 AM

I thought it was Bombur, after the escape from the goblins.

The Laurenendorian 12-01-2001 04:26 AM

Turambar has the solution.

Play on!

I belive the quote starts: "Black arrow, Black arrow." It's Bard talking to his black arrow on the rooftops of Esgaroth

Turambar 12-04-2001 08:54 AM

Correct, Dunedain.

HerenIstarion 12-13-2001 04:59 AM

Halbarad

Turambar 12-13-2001 06:47 AM

Yes, Halbarad was correct.

Elendur 01-09-2002 09:55 PM

It has been about a month since Hallbarad has showed up. One of you guys do the honors. Post up another quote.

Pippin 01-12-2002 09:12 AM

Ok, I'll take it.

Pippin 01-12-2002 03:39 PM

Go HerenIstarion! (did I spell it right?)

HerenIstarion 04-07-2002 03:58 AM

here late as well

Nice-Smeagol 04-07-2002 06:17 AM

That would be the fourth spider in Mirkwood, talking about the dwarves that they had hanging on their trees.

HerenIstarion 07-01-2004 02:47 AM

I'm awfully sorry, I've missed the correct answer for more than two years!. Shame on me.

Well, if Nice-Smeagol is still around and remembers the thing, he's entitled to go on :D

Somehow, I doubt he/she is.
