Mat_Heathertoes 04-14-2002 04:42 PM

Hildorien was the name of the land. The vale of Murmenalda was the place where the sleeping forms of men were first seen by Nuin the Ilkorin.

Turambar 04-14-2002 06:57 PM

Mat - where's that from (Nuin reference) ?

Dior 04-14-2002 08:22 PM

You're very much correct Mat_. I believe it's in the Silm, in The Coming Of Men Into The West.

Mat_Heathertoes 04-15-2002 03:43 AM

The Book of Lost Tales Part 1. (HoME I) refers to this obscure moment in time. Unfortunately this was discarded by Tolkien in later re-writings.
A shame as I feel it's a pleasant aside to the greater events happening further to the North-West at that point.
