Beren87 12-16-2002 07:12 PM

Good guess, but nope.

Pallando B.C 12-16-2002 07:16 PM

A Flame Imperishable?

Beren87 12-16-2002 07:21 PM

And this one goes to the man in front with the long beard!

Pallando B.C 12-16-2002 07:25 PM

* Pallando strokes his beard *

Why thank you Beren!

Here is one: What was the name of the song Turin made for Strongbow

lathspell 12-18-2002 09:36 AM

that would be 'Laer cu Beleg', which he made at the lakeside of Ivrin.

When Morgoth was cast into Void, he got a collar on his neck. What was that color made of?

Pallando B.C 12-18-2002 03:42 PM

Yes

Beren87 12-18-2002 09:17 PM

The collar was his Iron crown beat around his neck.

And remember to wait for confirmation to see if you are correct before asking another question.

Pallando B.C 12-19-2002 02:26 AM

Quite Right, Beren87

Beren87 12-19-2002 04:13 PM

ALlritey then,
Who was the third son of Feanor?

Pallando B.C 12-19-2002 04:15 PM

That would be Celegorm the Fair

Beren87 12-20-2002 01:43 PM

And that is correct.

Pallando B.C 12-20-2002 04:44 PM

Who escaped with Gil-galad after the Nirnaeth Arnoediad to the Isle of Balar?

lathspell 12-21-2002 10:28 AM

And that would be Cirdan and the remnant of his people.

greetings,
lathspell

P.S.: if this is correct, this will be the new question: what did Felagund and Beren do wrong that made Sauron sent to waylay them.

Pallando B.C 12-21-2002 06:43 PM

Once again lathspell, you should wait for verification....lucky you're right.

In answer to your question, I think Felagund and Beren disguised themselves as Orcs, in order to pass between Ered Wethrin.

Sauron doubted who they were, since they went with haste and didn't reported there deeds, as was commanded by Morgoth, for anyone who passed that way. So he sent to waylay them.

My apologies, Pallando B.C. and Beren87! I did not read Beren87's message until today, for I was away for some time and in haste when I returned to this Quiz. But I have read it now, so I shall wait for verification the next time.
My motto shall now be: Do not be hasty

Your answer is quite correct, good Ithron Luin.

Pallando B.C 12-22-2002 06:48 AM

Quote:

Ithron Luin.
I'm sorry, What does that mean, I don't speak Elvish and I never heard of that term before.

Anyway a cryptic one, What "Laughter" ceased in Childhood.

lathspell 12-22-2002 09:19 AM

Ithron is Wizard. The Sindarin words for the Blue Wizards is 'Ithryn Luin'. Though, if I'm correct , you are just one person it becomes Blue Wizard and therefore 'Ithron Luin'.

And now for the answer to your question.
That would be Lalaith, daughter of Hurin and Morwen and sister of Turin, who died when the Evil Breath came to Dor-lomin.

Pallando B.C 12-22-2002 06:36 PM

Very good lathspell, I thought I may have got you on that one!

And Thanks for the new words!

lathspell 12-24-2002 10:53 AM

Thank you, Pallando.

Here's the new question:
What was the second name of Holman, who was the gardener of Bilbo and to whom Hamfast Gamgee, Sam's father, was apprenticed?

greetings,
lathspell

Beren87 12-24-2002 12:48 PM

Ermm.., Im not sure what you want. Is Holman Greenhand the answer your looking for?

lathspell 12-25-2002 08:00 AM

yes, it is Beren87. Greenhand was the answer I was looking for.

Please continue.
greetings,
lathspell

Beren87 12-25-2002 10:57 AM

Who was the "all father"?

lathspell 12-25-2002 01:45 PM

I think 'Eru Iluvatar' is most likely to get that title.

Beren87 12-25-2002 03:28 PM

That is the "translation" of Illuvatar, yes, so it is your turn.

lathspell 12-26-2002 06:24 AM

alrighty then, here's the new one.

What's the translation of 'Gandalf'?

lathspell 12-26-2002 02:32 PM

The translation into English, I mean.

Thengise Greenleaf of Mirkwood 12-26-2002 11:09 PM

Grey Pilgrim?

Pallando B.C 12-29-2002 01:35 AM

Grey Wanderer?

lathspell 12-29-2002 08:24 AM

No, I'm afraid not. Mithrandir can be translated as Greay Pilgrim or Grey Wanderer. Gandalf translates rather different.
It's in UT.

Pallando B.C 12-30-2002 05:32 PM

the real findorfin 12-31-2002 05:10 AM

Pallando B.C 01-03-2003 09:59 PM

I agree to this, but zacattack is not responding, so I may as well go.
