What was the Gabilgathol, who was it made by, and what was it also called?
This was the Dwarf name for the city of Belegost, which was founded in the First Age. (Possibly by the Broadbeam clan of dwarves.) It was located in the Blue Mountains. Belegost meant "Great Fortress" in Elvish. It was destroyed in the War of Wrath.
Just as a side note to Birdland. Belegost was founded a long time before the 1st Age, as the dwarves of Belegost helped in the building of Menegroth. Which was build during the 3rd Age of the captivity of Melkor.
When exactly it was founded I cannot say however. Cheers T |
