Which dwarf was described by Thorin as being the strongest?

Androndo the Thoughtfull 02-11-2002 05:38 AM

Wow... MY first topic gets TWO pages *LOL*

Quote:

Dori is the strongest, but Fili is the youngest

Bruce MacCulloch 02-11-2002 05:44 AM

That would be correct, Androndo. Your turn. Maybe I like you a little bit, after all.

Androndo the Thoughtfull 02-11-2002 05:51 AM

How many dwarves "were able to stand firmly" after Bilbo rescued them from the spiders in Mirkwood?

(i don't think he will like me for this one :-)

Bruce MacCulloch 02-11-2002 05:55 AM

Four?

Androndo the Thoughtfull 02-11-2002 05:58 AM

And again the awnswer is correct!

Bruce MacCulloch 02-11-2002 06:10 AM

OK - This is an easy one.
Why was the thrush knocking on the stone?
And I'm not looking for any answer dealing with the map inscription or the prophecy.

Androndo the Thoughtfull 02-11-2002 06:14 AM

Bequase it was opening a snails house (or shell)...

Bruce MacCulloch 02-11-2002 06:15 AM

As usual, you are correct!

Androndo the Thoughtfull 02-11-2002 06:32 AM

Who had a dark-green hood?

Elrian 02-11-2002 08:26 AM

Balin?

Androndo the Thoughtfull 02-11-2002 09:33 AM

Laumé!

Androndo the Thoughtfull 02-13-2002 03:19 AM

It is Dwalin - An Unexpected Party from The Hobbit.

Androndo the Thoughtfull 02-13-2002 03:32 AM

Yes, Dwalin with the BLUE beard and the golden belt!

Your turn!

Joy 02-13-2002 03:53 AM

Whoooo-Hooooo, my first correct answer!

Name all that were mentioned as being present at the counsul of Elrond.

Bruce MacCulloch 02-13-2002 05:33 AM

Gandalf, Elrond, Glorfindel, Erestor, Galdor, Legolas, Aragorn, Boromir, Gloin, Gimli, Bilbo, Frodo, Samwise. But the title of the thread is "There and Back Again", which is the subtitle to The Hobbit. Therefore it's still your turn to come up with a question from The Hobbit.

Correct Bruce. I forgot about that Went through the books to fast.

When and where were Gandalf's suprise appearances?

Elrian 02-13-2002 11:54 PM

When the Trolls caught the Dwarves in the woods between Bree and Rivendell.
And When the armies of the Wood Elves and Lakemen were camped out below the Lonely Mountain and Bilbo brought down the Arkenstone.

Legolas 02-14-2002 12:17 PM

"When the Trolls caught the Dwarves in the woods between Bree and Rivendell" is right.

Additionally, Gandalf 'disappeared' and reappeared in the goblin cave to cause a great fire that sent out white sparks among all the goblins. As the Great Goblin stands dumbfounded, Glamdring appears and takes off his head.

He actually "appeared suddenly, and stood alone, with arms uplifted between the advancing dwarves and the ranks awaiting them." This would be after Bilbo had taken Thranduil/Bard the Arkenstone, when the dwarves attack while Bard and his men are debating. Gandalf stops them just in time to see the goblins/wargs who were following Dain and his men.

I *think* these are the only occurrences.

Joy 02-14-2002 12:54 PM

Legolas has it.

Legolas 02-14-2002 04:21 PM

"One question at a time - and none till after supper! I haven't had a bite since breakfast."

Who said this, and what did he eat afterwards?

Bruce MacCulloch 02-14-2002 04:35 PM

Gandalf said it in Beorn's house to Bilbo and the dwarves. Afterwards he ate two whole loaves with honey, butter and cream and washed it down with mead.

You may proceed, sir.

Bruce MacCulloch 02-14-2002 07:50 PM

Who found the cave that the party took refuge in from the storm (and were subsequently nabbed by goblins)?

Theodred21 02-14-2002 09:10 PM

Fili and Kili did

Bruce MacCulloch 02-14-2002 09:40 PM

Very nice Theodred!
Your turn.

Eldarion son of Aragorn 02-14-2002 11:03 PM

I know Theodred and it's very doubtful that he'll be coming back, carry on or I can ask in his stead if you want.

Eldarion son of Aragorn 02-14-2002 11:06 PM

On the second hand I just talked to him so he might be back, give him a few days.

Theodred21 02-16-2002 03:33 PM

You people have little faith. You sound like I did last summer when I would be waiting to answer a question.

What did the dwarves not care tuppence about?

Androndo the Thoughtfull 02-16-2002 04:18 PM

Butterflies above Mirkwood

Theodred21 02-16-2002 07:52 PM

Right you are Androdo my friend!

Androndo the Thoughtfull 02-17-2002 08:27 AM

OK, now it's time to reply all my threads *aargh*...:

What was "A hard climb, too," ?

Beregond 02-17-2002 09:31 AM

Looking for the secret door on Erebor?

Beregond 02-17-2002 09:34 AM

Looking for the secret door on Erebor?

Androndo the Thoughtfull 02-17-2002 09:38 AM

Close, but not right

Theodred21 02-17-2002 10:41 PM

Hey Bere, I notice you're back here too! Sorry, I'll have to look that one up. :

Watcher in the Water 02-18-2002 12:53 AM

Was it a hard climb to the Guard House on a spur of the Mountain?

Androndo the Thoughtfull 02-21-2002 02:24 PM

"the correct reply"

Watcher in the Water 02-21-2002 07:08 PM

Which dwarf opened his eyes in Mirkwood and asked "Where's Thorin?"
